Free social media tracking

What is the best free social media monitoring tool out there?
-
You mean monitoring as in you just want to see what's going on? Social Mention, Ice Rocket, Board Reader, Search.Twitter, Google Blogsearch, etc, etc, etc. If you just want to see what's going on now and then, I'd set up what some people call a social media listening station. It's pretty straightforward, is very flexible, and runs through whatever your favorite RSS reader is.

If you're looking for general monitoring across multiple platforms, I'm a fan of social mention. You'll probably need to figure out how to filter some of the junk out in your searches, though.
You get 50 report points for Hoostuite pro (at least I do for the cheapest $5.99 pro package). You can pull together a decent report with that. I believe you need to pay for extra points if you want to make more in-depth reports.
-
Which feature? You should have reports available in Pro as well as the ability to monitor mentions and add keyword columns to track?
-
I know of reports, but those are very expensive?
-
I have hootsuite pro, do I have to pay more for these features or is it included?
-
Monitoring or Management? Hootsuite is a good one for both monitoring and management. Google has several tools for listening. search.twitter.com can help you track specific mentions and phrases in real time...

Social Management Software
Hi all Just wondering, what service do you use to manage multiple social profiles ( in excess of 50). Curious as we have used http://commun.it for twitter accounts, but gets tedious as we need to log in on several different accounts, although great service Also use Hootsuite but reporting is terrible ... Really looking for some platform that offers lots of account management, building networks while offers decent reporting. And preferably some platform that expands beyond Twitter and FB only Thanks in advance John

Deleting Poor Performing Social Media Accounts for Businesses?
I'm the Internet Marketing Manager for an ad agency and in charge of not only our social media and SEO but advising and hooking up clients with successful campaigns. I've taken the liberty of signing us up for almost every major social media account. Some are very successful (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, LinkedIn, Vimeo is ok (we use it over YouTube), Vine is picking up) and others are very not doing well (Flickr, Foursquare, YouTube really is low, Google+ is very mediocre). I’ve been wondering if it would be more beneficial to just delete certain accounts. I think I need to keep Google+ (Google values it and we are not doing terribly on it) but all the others listed in the bad column I think are really cancerous to our SEO (and make us look bad b/c we are doing poorly on them) but I really don’t know. I used them kind of to see if they would work for us and to demonstrate that we knew what we were doing in these social networks, but I think they may be doing us more harm than good both from a PR standpoint and SEO. Doesn't it hurt your website for Google to see poor performing social media accounts, just as the opposite would be true (good sm accounts and mention/activity would give you klout & SEO...)? What do you think? I'm no novice but no master either. Love this forum. Thanks in advance.

Myth or Fact: Social Media Dashboards Bad for SEO?
I want to start using HootSuite to pre-schedule Facebook/Twitter updates, but am plagued by nagging concerns because I have heard that HootSuite may impact SEO in a negative way. Is this truth or bull? If it i true, how so, specifically? And can anything be done to mitigate the negative SEO factors? Also, does anyone prefer another dashboard over HootSuite? Thanks in advance for your inputs!

Are social signals passed with a 301 redirect
Hi all, A question came up today that I don't think I've seen answered before. We hear all the time how important social sharing metrics are becoming to SEO, but what happens to the social signals of a page when it is 301 redirected? Are the social signals forwarded on in the same manner as link juice? Has anyone ever seen any experiments carried out around this before? Thanks very much in advance for any information shared. Cheers.

Custom Social Media icons: Good or bad?
Hi guys, In our never-ending search for better SEO strategies and results, our journey has led us to question the idea of creating custom social media icons for our site. We are wondering if anyone has had experience, either negative or positive, by using these icons, or if there is no difference at all? I would like to make it clear that we are only thinking about customizing the icons that lead to our Facebook page, Twitter profile, YouTube channel, etc. NOT the like/share/tweet/etc buttons. We understand the negative effects in changing those icons, but are interested in knowing if creating general icons that match our design will be a good or bad thing. Any replies are appreciated, thanks!

Misplaced social media metrics comparison tool
Hello, I can't seem to find a social media metrics comparison tool that showed me the number of Facebook Likes/Shares, Tweets, etc. compared to a site's competition. Does anyone have any idea what this may be? I scanned through all of my SEO Tools and can't find it.

What Tools Do You Use For SEO Social Media Audits?
Hi, With a the growing trend towards social media signals starting to have a decent impact on Search Engine algorithms, i'd like to know what tools people use for "social media site audits". I generally use a fair amount of manual observations for social media profiles such as profile completeness. Hubspot offer a few really nice tools over at http://grader.com/ that allows a quick 'score' for an account. I then take a look at the 'buzz' around a company over a few mediums such as Twitter Search, Google blog search, BoardReader, HowSociable.com and SocialMention.com Facebook Insights is good (if you own the domain) for testing the number of likes. Im still yet to see a decent tool for testing entire domains for # retweets, Diggs etc. What are your favourite tools for SEO Social Media Audits?
