Backlink level of domain authority
-
Hi, we are trying to build on the number of good quality links.
One idea we had is to provide testimonials for a number of suppliers websites. Which would include a link from our company name back to our site.
Is there a certain level of domain authority we should only do this for? For example if a supplier only has a domain authority of 11 should we not get a back link?
Many Thanks

Maybe, it's more likely that they've simply moved to an updated, more sophisticated version. Generally speaking, PageRank above 4 is good. Also, try installing the MozBar and judging by Domain Authority or MozRank. For the metrics out of 10, look for 4 or above. Out of 100, 30 or above.

OK. The value of dmoz is not what it once was. Truthfully, If you've got a listing, it might be better to leave it as is vs. trying to get it changed. Google does have that page indexed so you might not get any more value out of moving it.
-
Thanks, we do appear in a category but it is a category on our own, maybe not the best one.
Our competitors appear in another category with lots more firms, DMOZ shows up in their link analysis.
I will request to be moved to another category which is more appropriate.
-
Be sure to return to DMOZ and verifiy that your site was added to that directory. There is no guarantee that you'll be listed.
-
Thanks.
There is one backlink which has not appeared to have worked. We registered our site with DMOZ a long time ago but it does not show up under our link analysis.
Have we registered it incorrectly? We appear on DMOZ (1st in the list below)

It won't have a negative impact, it will just have less of an impact than a domain authority 30 site. Also, you don't want to have to monitor for when that da 16 site becomes a da 50 site, so I recommend getting links (aka online relationships) from as many of those suppliers as possible on a consistent basis.
I agree with Searchbuzz and Chris.Menke above, that testimonial and link is going to be valuable to you and your business, especially when you continue to gain these one on top of another over time.
-
Thanks for your replies they really help.
I agree we can work with our suppliers, I have a good enough understanding now of SEO to be able to offer simple help.
If a supplier has a domain authority of 16 does it have a negative impact?
We have 28 linking domains and a DA of 16 is would be fourth from the bottom.
Many Thanks

Daniel,
I'm guessing that you didn't choose to work with your suppliers based on their pagerank and I submit to you that you shouldn't chose your supplier's back links based on pagerank, either. It is more than acceptable to develop the types of relationships you're writing about with your suppliers of all sizes and degrees of importance--just because they're smaller, doesn't mean growing that digital relationship isn't going to help your company or its website.

Not Receiving Credit for all Linking Domains
Hey guys, So I'm having trouble understanding why we aren't receiving credit for linking root domains by Moz. Our site URL is https://www.expertip.net Google states that we have 3,648 links - most of which were obtained by Yext indexing us for our locations. We don't seem to be getting credit for ANY of those links. Most seem to be reputable, like yellowpages.com, etc. and google shows 156 domains. Any help here can be appreciated. I believe that we've followed best practices as far as root domains and 301s go. I've attached images to show further. Thanks,

Backlinking unclarities.
Hello, I'm trying to get external links from different websites. http://www.meubels.uwpagina.nl/ is one of them. Now what I am wondering is that 95% of the links on that page arent paid links. The paid links are in bold. To get a link for free on that website you need to place a link on your page to that page. This is not alloud by google, and if you do so you will get a penalty. How do all those websites manage to do it? They obviously know it is not alloud, but still they managed somehow to do this without getting penalized. Can someone clarify this for me? Best regards, onlinedesignmeubel.nl

Domain extensions and link building
Hi, If you were trying to rank your website for a search term in Google UK, would it be more beneficial to build links from .co.uk websites then any other? I have read on Hubspot if your targeting UK rankings then link building from .co.uk domains will have a good impact on UK rankings? Thanks

Should I Use a Backlink Plugin
One of my clients recently asked me if he should use a Wordpress plugin to create backlinks to his website. He mentioned WP-Syndicator as an example. I just redesigned his website and I'd like to ensure that he gets a bit more traffic than he was before. Should I suggest that he purchase/use a Wordpress backlink plugin? If so does anyone know which is the best one? Not sure if it's necessary, but here is the website I'm referring to http://intouchhome.com

We have a client that wants to gain a back link from Webopedia. We have found a very relevent definition entry and there is an additional resources section that contains links to their competitors. Webopedia is owned/operated by Quinn St. and I have reached out to them to see if this is a posibility, but haven't heard back. Any experience in trying to acquire a link from this property? Thanks!

Do sub-domains help overall domain ranking?
If I have a blog at (for example) blog.mywebsite.co.uk (hosted on Wordpress), does this confer rankings to the top level domain (e.g. www.mywebsite.co.uk which we host ourselves)? Contained within the blog are many links to the main website (which is an eCommerce website) for all our key phrases, but it seemed like a good idea to keep the blog and the store separate. Alternatively, would it be better to use something like www.mywebsite.co.uk/news? Thanks! Alex

New pages backlinking
Hello there, I have created a website that with some basic link building has been appearing nicely in location based keywords, eg, computer repairs flintshire, this was easy enough to achieve as the competition wasnt great, just wish i has these on page seo tools 6 months ago! my question is this - i am trying to get similair results in other location based keywords, eg, computer repairs chester and computer repairs wirral. What i have done is created a new page dedicated to each keyword, making sure that there is no duplicate content ect ect, the on page SEO is perfect and i am already on the first page for a couple i have done. so i have a url that now is http://www.ep-networks.co.uk/computer-repairs-chester.php
