OpenSite Explorer

Hello Moz World,
Does anyone know how long it takes Moz's OpenSite Explorer to recognise / index back links?
I have generated a number of back links for pages in the last 7 days (not "no-follow") and they are not yet showing up?
Any advise would be much appreciated.
Kind regards
Ben

Martin,
Thank you for the reply, that sounds great. It seemed like the most recent index came a few weeks early (was listed as Oct 1st) and the next one is scheduled about a month out which seems like forever when you're trying to see what progress you've made, but as you mentioned, it is a ton of data to sort through on your end so definitely understand the challenges. Will be great if the next update allows for index updates on a more frequent basis and additional insights, definitely looking forward to it. Thanks again.

Hi Kyle,
I am the manager of the Big Data team at Moz. Currently the system we use has a cycle time of approx 4 weeks. This pulls together all the data we have seen in the previous 100 days of crawling (approx 170 Million Domains where we see136 Billion Links) as you can imagine index and sorting these links can take some time.
We are currently working on a major update (to be released early next year) to our systems where we will move to an incremental model were updates are applied to the index on a much more timely manner. We also plan to incorporate some form of data visualization about how often and how much of a user site will be crawled so that our customers can get some in-site into when they will see updates.
I hope that helps.
Martin.

Even after the most recent index update I didn't see some of the links I have built show up. So far it seems to take about a month for new links to show up but they appear in Google Webmaster tools much sooner. Hopefully if the Moz Index updates more frequently in the future these links will appear much faster. Good luck with your link building efforts.

That's a great help thank you. Much appreciated for your quick reply.

Hi Ben
OSE and the Moz index runs on scheduled updates. You can check when it was last updated and when the next update will happen right here.
You can see the last update was 3 weeks ago, with the next update on the 1st Oct. Hence why you're links aren't showing yet.
Moz is working hard on making the updates more regular and in the past have had them every week or fortnight, so hopefully it'll get back to there soon.
Hope this helps.

Can I change the Link Explorer from check with Google US?
I'm trying to check the ranking keywords for a specific article with the Link Explorer, but when I hover over Ranking Keywords on the Overview it tells me that it's looking on Google US. We're a UK based company and the keywords we're trying to rank for are UK based - is there a way of changing this to match?

Difference on full and partial URLs in Open Site Explorer?
Hi, I am pretty new to SEO and it might show. Here is my question, regarding the difference on "full and partial" urls in Open Site Explorer (OSP). That is, the difference on http://www.mywebsite.com and http://mywebsite.com. I get very similar results for the two variations, but not exactly the same. That suggest to me that OSP most of the time find the same links regardless of whether the url put into the search field is full or partial. But not all the time. Can anyone clarify? Thx in advance

GTLDs in Open Site Explorer
Curious to know if anyone has run into a similar problem - I entered a site containing a gTLD (.dog extensions) in OSE and it gave me an error (screenshot attached). I checked another tool (ahrefs.com) and was able to extract some data. Does anyone know if these type of domains are not included in OSE and/or why there was an error? Appreciate any insight! Open Site Explorer Messge - Mysite.com redirects to www.mysite.com
Hello All, When I plug in my site's URL http://mysite.com ( Not my actual URL of-course) into the OpenSiteExplorer tool I get the following message: "You entered the URL http://Mysite.com which redirects to http://www.Mysite.com/.

Because it's likely to have more accurate metrics, we're showing data for the redirected URL instead.
Click here to analyze http://Mysite.com instead?" Not sure why I am getting this message. On my hosting server, I have defined my preferred domain to be the non-www. version. I have also used a Canonical Tag on Mysite.com/index.html file ( ). In addition, on Google Search Console ( Webmaster Tools ) , I have added both the www. and non-www. properties, where on both property settings, I have defined the non-www. version as my preferred one. Also, on my server, I have not implemented any 301 redirects at all. So my questions are: Why am I receiving this message when plugging in my non-www. URL version of my website into OpenSiteExplorer? Is my DA or PA possibly being split up between the two versions as a result? Should I be concerned? How can I fix this? Thanks in advance.0 -

Open site Explorer Facebook Shares
In open site explorer I have been trying to increase my Facebook Shares and likes. I recently posted my URL and got over 150 likes but none of that has been showing up in open site explorer. I noticed my profile was set to private so I went back and made sure it was public and the shared link was public but nothing. Can anybody explain to me what exactly the Facebook share is measuring? Because the explanation it gives me isn't working for some reason. Perhaps it takes a bit longer for Facebook measure than Twitter or Google Plus, but it has been a few days and I would expect it to have registered by now. Any help would be great. If it helps you can help check it out. My URL is http://www.baselinedental.com Thanks!
