Open Site Explorer Doesn't Discover Link for my website
-
Hi, I've been trying to use Open Site Explorer to track link to my own website but it always comes up with no data and shows me this message:
It looks like we haven't discovered link data for this site or URL.
However, this site has been up and running for more than 9 months and google webmaster can track all the links to my website. I've also followed MOZ's support instruction to tweet a bit.ly links with my website but still no luck at all. My website is www.carpetcleanerperthwa.com.au
Has anyone seen the same problem before? Any help would be much appreaciated.
Thanks
Will

this is where the additional feature of when Moz last crawled a page would be great, but as this page has a PA of 1 and no known links, I would guess Moz hasn't crawled the page / found the page just yet.

Hi Andy,
Thanks for your response. This is a URL that my home page is linked to:
http://www.truelocal.com.au/business/carpet-cleaner-perth-wa/maddington
Thanks again.

These are large sites which I am guessing Moz is visiting fairly frequently and its great you have got a link from Google.com, however I was hoping you could send me the actual urls of where your links are located.
I had a similar problem in the fact I linked from our main site (DA of 68) to a brand site and the link still isn't showing up in Moz, but when I did some digging it turns out it was my developers / designers mistakes as it wasn't that easy for a bot to get to that page - so Moz was crawling the site, but the page with the link wasn't easily reachable hence why Moz hadn't found the link etc.
What would be a good feature would be like with Google you can see the last time a page was crawled, if Moz had a similar feature.

Hi All - Thank you for all the response - All useful tips from different perspective!
I could use WMT but I really want to get OSE working for my website because it gives details analysis about my website and my competitors side by side.
Andy: Here are linked domains that show up in WMT. Very much appreciated your help.

If you want the bes tool for link discovery or link checking use https://ahrefs.com/
I use OSE, I use Semrush, I tried MajesticSeo, in my opinion no one is near ahrefs when it comes to discover links.
I am a happy user of OSE, and I think MOZ algorithm calculating DA, PA MozRank, etc... Is doing an excellent work and OSE is always my first stop when I want to evaluate and compare websites or pages.
But no other tool I tried is close to ahrefs for link discovery.
Of course you are already using GWT, right?

Hi Will,
Sorry for the confusion with OSE! A key thing to remember about having your links appear in OSE, is that it isn't about your links as much as it is about who links to your links :). OSE's crawl starts from a seed set of trusted sites and crawls links to discover new content in a trickle-down fashion. Therefore, the more sites with high authority that are found linking to you, the more likely your link is to be recognized in the index. This process is also time sensitive so fresher links are prioritized; meaning that consistent updates to your link building will behoove you.
As Andy mentioned, this process can take a good deal of time. There is no finite time frame that can be guaranteed for when your links will appear. The best thing I can encourage is to start building relationships with the sites that link to you (visible from Google Webmaster Tools, as Andy also referenced), as well as with high authority sites that you want to link to you.
Using the bit.ly link is a great way to get your foot in the door, so to speak. The optimal way to do this is by tweeting a link to a linking page (the link for a site that links to you). The other portion is that you need at least one other person to follow that link. Then you should be on your way!
I hope this helps to clarify the process! Feel free to let me know if you have any questions, and have a great day!

While moz is a great company, Google has hundreds more servers than Moz so is able to dig further and deeper into the internet to see more links.
Moz last month crawled and indexed 166 billion pages http://moz.com/products/api/updates so this means there is still a large part of the net which hasn't been crawled by moz. They tend to crawl the larger more reputable sites and follow those links, rather than the smaller / black hat sites. They also can't crawl every site in every country so do tend to focus more where they have more demand from their customers (US etc), but your in Australia so I wouldn't have thought this would be an issue.
It actually took 4 months for my link from my Moz profile to show in Opensiteexplorer so even they don't crawl their own site that often.
Where are most of your current links from (that are appearing in webmaster tools). Have you checked these urls in Opensiteexplorer to see if these have been found by moz.
Google obviously has to crawl the entire web (or as much as they can) to offer the best user experience for when searching, plus people want their sites to appear in Google so submit sitemaps etc to them. Whereas and I don't know if this is techncially possible but I am assuming it is, the sites where you have got links could potentially stop moz from crawling their sites. In that case, your links would never appear.
If you could let me know a couple of the links that are appearing in WMTs I will take a look for you.

Question about link report
Hey all, SEO noob here, back with another question. I downloaded a link report, and I don't understand the columns Links to Page, Outbound Domains from Page, and Outbound Links from Page. Is Links to Page the number of links from the source page to the target page? Is Outbound Domains from Page the number of domains linked to by the source page? Is Outbound Links from Page the number of outbound links to any domain or page from the source page? Thanks in advance! AK

GTLDs in Open Site Explorer
Curious to know if anyone has run into a similar problem - I entered a site containing a gTLD (.dog extensions) in OSE and it gave me an error (screenshot attached). I checked another tool (ahrefs.com) and was able to extract some data. Does anyone know if these type of domains are not included in OSE and/or why there was an error? Appreciate any insight! What's the Story on Mozscape Updates?
Hey gang, As you may be aware, we were considerably late with our last index release. You have my sincere apologies for that and the apologies of the entire team. In the interest of transparency, I want to try to explain what's been going on. Since stepping down as CEO, I've been asked to take on a few roles in the company. One of those is product architect (basically the product owner) of our Big Data team, who produces the Mozscape link index. For several years, that team has been almost exclusively focused on getting us closer to a near real-time indexing system that does not have scalability issues. Mozscape is currently smaller than our major competitors, and we're also often slower. Our metrics (PA, DA, MozRank, MozTrust, Spam Score, Social Data, etc) have been the unique value we provide, but it's not enough. We need to be competitive on size and freshness. Building a raw link index (without processed metrics like PA/DA et al) is hard, but it's possible. Building a link index with those metrics is really tricky, and requires computer science knowledge and skills far beyond the scope of my understanding. That's what our team's been working on, and they've made some progress, but it's been slow, hampered by unknown unknowns, and materially hurt by a lack of experienced talent we can hire to help (we've had open job posts for years now). In the meantime, our historic Mozscape index structure keeps encountering challenges - this latest round is still somewhat unexplained (we believe there's hardware issues compounded by how the system is architected to handle large domains, but there may be other issues). The team's struggled to split time between keeping the old Mozscape running and hunkering down to finish the new system. I'm trying to help them balance things as best I can, and we're going to be putting effort toward making sure we get index releases out on time. However, to do that, we'll need to scale down size, and then rebuild back up. We think we can do this while also improving the prioritization of which links we crawl (e.g. deeper on important domains that link out, less so on deep pages that don't link anywhere) so the index overall improves. However, I don't want to minimize the risks - we may have some slow updates, some smaller indices, and some less-than-ideal data in the next one or two indices while we work to remedy this issue. I HOPE we don't, and that things actually get better immediately, but we can't promise that until the work gets finished. TL;DR - Mozscape V2 is in development and will let us as big and faster as any link index. In the meantime, current Mozscape's having issues & we're making smaller indices in an attempt to diagnose and repair. As always, thanks for your understanding, continued support, and if you have any questions, feel free to leave them below. I realize that this level of service/product quality is NOT OK, and I'm doing everything in my power to fix it.

Just Discovered links - How long before they are counted toward the PA scores
I have a new website I put up in the last 90 days. I have been watching the DA, PA and Keyword rankings. Once I set up the campaign I got a report back a week later and some data showing some keyword rankings and some DA & PA scores and links showing from 2 domains. Since this time OSE has Just Discovered 16 more backlinking domains - however the DA and PA scores have not changed ? How long after the new Just Discovered backlinks before they affect the scores I am seeing for my DA & PA ? Thank you in advance for any insight on this matter, Happy Holidays - Joe

Why do links from UCAS to London South Bank University not get reported as external links
Links on the following page at UCAS http://search.ucas.com/provider/1504/london-south-bank-university?Vac=1&AvailableIn=2015&ProviderQuery=london south bank university&ret=providers do not appear to be listed as external links in Open Site Explorer reports. For example there is a link on the UCAS page to http://www.lsbu.ac.uk/schools-departments . But when I check the Open Site Explorer report for http://www.lsbu.ac.uk/schools-departments no link from UCAS is recorded.

Does Moz allow you to upload your disavow to take into account when analysing links?
I was wondering if moz allows you to upload your disavow file and if it has a consideration in the data supplied? Otherwise how can we accurately use moz to understand the true analytics of our site?

Open Site Explorer
Confused by the results displayed in Open Site Explorer. Want to know the Total Links into a site. As such typed in the site address and received the result 28 Total Links from 1 Root Domain. Filter Set to This Page. Therefore, changed the filter to **Pages on This Root Domain. **All other filters set to All (i.e. internal and external links). I would assume this should give me ALL LINKS coming into all pages. I received results of 79 Total Links from 28 root domains. Raven and other tools advise a Total number of links in excess of 2,000. External Backlinks 200+. I have experienced this problem on a number of sites over the past month, in what way am I interpreting the data incorrectly? Why is there such disparity? Please advise. Kind regards
