Confused about the link metrics showing up in MOZ & OSE
-
For my campaign "itelligence Applications" which is for site itelligencegroup.com/uk/ - MOZ seems to be giving me different stats on links, depending on which tab I look it in the Link Analysis section. Then when I look at OSE, the numbers are totally different again, not just a little bit different.
Example: In MOZ Link Analysis, on the "inbound links" tab, it says there are 129 Root Domains and 6832 Total External Inbound Links.
If I then look at the Competitive Metrics screen, it says there are 46,284 external followed links and 240 total linking root domains.
If I then go to OSE for the same site, it says there are 14 Root Domains and 686 total links.
I have no idea why these numbers vary so much or how to even report them to my client.
Am I missing something here? Any help would be gratefully received!

Thanks very much for getting back to me, Jordan. Yes it does clarify and I hadn't realised I could toggle between domain & subdomain like that. It makes sense now!

Hi Maureen,
Thanks for reaching out, and sorry for the confusion! This is a tricky one! All of this information is pulled from the same source; it's just being reported in slightly different ways. This campaign is set up to track the subfolder itelligencegroup.com/uk/, which is totally fine, but is also the source of the confusion :).
In Competitive Metrics, you have the option to toggle between domain and subdomain (http://screencast.com/t/aguINJ3OlFCA). If you switch to subdomain then you'll see that your results realign with the numbers in your Link Analysis section.
Then for OSE, you can see 14 root domains linking to the subfolder itelligencegroup.com/uk/, but if you add that to the 115 linking root domains for intelligencegroup.com you get the full 129! It's just displayed in this way because of the geo-locating redirect associated with the root domain for this site which makes for some funky link reporting.
I hope this helps to clarify the data a little bit! Feel free to let me know if you have any further questions! Thanks, and have a wonderful day!
Cheers,

Which metric will indicate the total # of other sites that are linking to my site? Thank you!

Will Moz move DA from an old domain to the new?
Hi folks, I'm moving a digital magazine of mine, which has a great deal of authority (DA53!) to a new domain, which is much more brandable. I'm curious if Moz ever passes the actual DA/PA numbers to the new domain. Does the tool pick this up, eventually? I know once the domain is switched, DA will show a "1" -- as the domain is brand new, technically. This is NOT a question about authority/link juice being passed, but rather the numbers being displayed by Open Site Explorer. Some authors do look at Moz DA as an indicator of a sites "power" before applying for authorship, so I'm trying to find a way to move to a more brandable domain, while keeping the OSE stats in place. If it's not possible, I'll have to live with it 🙂 Any input? Thanks everyone!

I'm doing a link audit and I want to download a spreadsheet of all the links to my website in OSE. There has to be a way to do that right?!

Are Just Discovered Links Reports Working?
I can't find my 4 month old site in Open Site Explorer. But as the site has had all of its posts tweeted I checked the Just Discovered Links reports to see if it was mentioned there. My domain is http://www.genesisclub.training but the problem is that if I target "this root domain" - I get a bunch of links that are nothing to do with my site. For example the root domain report includes sites linking to www.tinmagpie.training www.goahead.training powerquery.training http://videoproduction.training http://www.eti.training http://linkedinsales.training and more, as sites linking to my root domain. In which universe? The Just Discovered algorithm looks like it isn't coping with the .training TLD. It is treating my domain as if it were genesisclub.training.com so now anything.training is in my root domain.

Is there a easy way to take all links from O.S.E and add them to My Google WMT.CSV file?
Good morning everyone. I have recently discovered that someone has targeted me with a negative SEO campaign and I have been inundated with 13,000 anchor text links from spam sites pointing to my domain. I have run Open Site Explorer and gotten all of my backlinks on my desktop but what I need to do is add them to the back links .csv file from Google Webmaster Tools so that I can upload the file to my CognitiveSEO campaign. What I would like to know is, does anyone know how to transfer all backlinks from the open site explorer.csv file over to the webmaster tools .csv file in a bulk action without having to copy each link individually? I don't really have any working knowledge of excell in this capacity for SEO so, If anyone could explain how this would be done I would be eternally grateful because adding one link at a time is very painful and very time consuming. Thank you. Cam

Does OSE crawl our site often? Or do we have an other problem? (internal links)
I am wondering if i can find out when OpenSiteExplorer crawled our entire website for the last time.
Link Explorer | | wilcoXXL
A few months ago we added some internal textlinks to all of our productpages. Those are links to the brandpage of that particular product. Some of our brands do have up to 1500 products, so there should be at least 1500 internal links pointing to that brandpage. But OSE still gives me a wrong count. It says there is only 1 internal link pointing to that brandpage.
Is it because OSE never crawled our site again? Or am i missing something here?(maybe too many internal links to one specific brandpage is not okay?) I'll hope you guys can help me out with this one.0
