Blog Traffic
-
Hi all,
As of today, we put up approximately 900 high-quality, 100% original articles on our blog. However, we have not been able to generate any good traffic since July when it was first launched (blog.ostanding.com). Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again.

Here are the following things I have noticed while being on your blog for 10 seconds.
- Page Load time is high
- Topics are mostly used keeping the keywords in life.
- No promoting strategy implemented.
- No option for me to connect to author on social media
- Design is good but a little heavy in my opinion
We at our end when work on blog management this is something we always consider
- Design should compliment brand’s online identity as well as appeal to user. User cannot wait much so the design should be light so that it can load fast as required by the reader.
- Topics you are choosing are keyword friendly but when building a conversation on the blog you should play with mix of keyword friendly topics and the topics that have the ability to create buzz and conversation on your blog.
- Lot of text, no infographics, you are missing mix media content on your blog.
- There are multiple authors, which is great but there is no way I can communicate with them and engage with your brand. Remember, now people like to engage with faces instead of logos.
- Writing a quality blog post is nothing unless you have a awesome marketing and promotion plan for it
These are the few ideas that you should consider and you will see a measureable difference in your traffic.

I would start by cleaning up the on page. There is a lot wrong from ridiculously long title tags, no H1 tag, and missing alt and title tags on the images. A lot of the subheadings you use could be h2s as well. Also, don't forget to use internal links in the blogs back to other pages.
I would also make sure the articles you are writing align in content with what people are searching for.

JS reliant faceted navigation - ecommerce/blog - is it a bad idea?
I have noticed that some e-commerce sites don't worry aout their store working when JS is switched off - yet some do - are there any SEO implications of losing faceted navigation/filtering functionality when JS is disabled I tried M&S - didn't work - but Tesco did - when JS is disabled.

Blog - subdomain vs. subfolderq
Hi everyone I work on an ecommerce site and I'm trying to get more content together for the site & blog. The development team want to put the blog we have on a subdomain of our site, my question is - what is better for SEO Subfolder vs. subdomain I've read a couple of articles to say subfolder is better and a subdomain needs a lot of management to build up authority itself? Thanks!

Natural Fluctuation in Search Traffic
This is going to sound like a weird question... I'm curious to know whether there is a natural fluctuation in the actual number of searches being made online each week. It would be great to relate this to the performance of my own organic traffic each week. For example, if organic search traffic is down 10% week on week, is that because search in general is down 10%? Has anybody ever looking into this?

Blog comments - backlinks - question
Hi, I see that many good websites have backlinks from very good blogs/sites which are relative. What I noticed that everyone use their real name or generic name in comments. They do not use the keyword for the name. So later they get backlinks with anchor text of their names... So, my question is this good technique ? Do I have any benefits from these backlinks for my website ? With such a technique, whether it is enough just to leave your real name or may I periodically put the keyword for the name ? Thank you

Regular Expressions for Filtering BOT Traffic?
I've set up a filter to remove bot traffic from Analytics. I relied on regular expressions posted in an article that eliminates what appears to be most of them. However, there are other bots I would like to filter but I'm having a hard time determining the regular expressions for them. How do I determine what the regular expression is for additional bots so I can apply them to the filter? I read an Analytics "how to" but its over my head and I'm hoping for some "dumbed down" guidance. 🙂

Dofollow blog comments to encourage commenting and subscriptions?
We publish really solid content on our blog, but are having trouble acquiring comments and subscribers due to the dull nature of our industry. So we are considering dofollowing blog comments as incentive. Of course, the comment will be moderated. Do you think this is a good idea?

Setting up a Blog - Guest Authors
I am planning on setting up a blog in the next couple months. We would like to have 10 different categories that professionals can write about and submit articles. Any suggestions on which blogging software to put on the site. So far I have heard of WordPress and Joomla. (Not sure which is the best version) We want it to maybe have the bloggers logo or pictures, date, etc. None of us have had any experience with this so we needed some input. I have been reading everywhere that blogging is huge for SEO and so I just wanted to improve ours plus maybe drive more traffic with a high level blog for professionals. Any ideas or even books that I should go purchase to study up. When we do this it would be great to get it set up properly from the get go. 🙂 Boo
