Getting a sitewide links from one domain as oppsed to few links from certain pages, a good, bad or horrible idea?
-
Hello, I have a website that is performing really well in Google for country specific Real Estate Website. I have had this site for just about 2 years and I have 4600+ indexed pages, and about 50 of my main keywords appear in top 10 results on Google.
I have now started a second site with a brand new domain, its only about 2 months old. This one is a Travel website and again its country specific (same country that real estate website is performing well in) and since its still building up the content and has barely a couple of backlinks, I am thinking of adding a linkback to it from my Real Estate Site.
Is it a good idea to add a site wide link back from header section of the real estate website to my travel website? Both sites has same country and most of the keywords in both relate to this country. Or will I be better off adding a few text links from few pages with best Page Authority? Or - do you suggest that I do not link the two at all?
Both sites are hosted on different servers, with different IP's and one is on windows server created in asp.net while another is a magento site.
Any advidce / insight will be much appreciated and thank you in advance.

I mean both two solutions are good but if you have a static text in the home would be the best choice because google loves textual links and will also help you to rank the related words.
Hope it helps you.

Thank you Shakur.
As for weather they are related theme, one is "Real Estate Bhutan" while another is "Tour and Travel Bhutan". So, more like step sons - instead of direct siblings!
Do you mean its better to add "a static text link from the homepage" instead of sitewide links from every page?
Thank you.

Hi there,
Link to the sidewide not going to harm your site and less if they are related theme.
If you have the possibility to insert a static text link from the homepage would be ideal as it would have more value.
Regards,

30,746 Links from One Site to Our Site
I learned this morning in our Google Webmaster Account about a website has 30,746 links to our website. Both our website and their site present information related to plastic materials, so in essence they complement one another. However, is having that massive amount of links from one site to ours a bad thing and should we use Google Disavow? Also, they have a PR3 while our site is PR5 (not sure if that matters much).

What would you consider a "bad link"?
So, our website has a pretty profound collection of inbound links- which no one has really been taking care of the past 10 years. lol. Our users love us and they love to talk about us every chance they get. Which is great, except that I am new to the company and I am trying to sort through our links. Lots of them come from foreign forums and some are even in "hacking" forums, because some of our "not so great" users abuse our service. So, how am I am to tell what links and sites are good vs. bad? I have found some that are on old industry related link sites, I should definitely try to get rid of those right? Thanks in advance for the help and sorry if I am being unclear.

Link Building Ideas?
Hi everyone, I am currently working on a site where people can buy mail-order bagels, i.e. the bagels are shipped via postal mail. It's a good alternative for places that have no good bagel stores nearby, especially in small, rural towns. I am about to launch a link-building campaign for the website, but am a little stuck as to where to begin. My first thought was guest posting, but it seems like the vast majority of food blog owners are very protective of their blogs and rarely, if ever, allow guest posts. I also thought about doing sponsored reviews (i.e. sending mommy bloggers free samples in exchange for a review), but that's essentially a paid link, i.e. a no-no. There are of course generic web directories, but those only get you so far, and article marketing is out of the question (too spammy). Was hoping I might be able to bounce off some ideas off of you all. Any thoughts? Thank you in advance for whatever tips/ideas you might be able to share 🙂 Lukas

Competitor links on unmaintained pages
hey all, this is my first posting... I have a webpage that is a great resource (ranked 3rd for my keyword) , and unarguably better than the site that is taking the first 2 places. Because my page is a much more useful resource for the same thing I have been looking at who is linking to them and asking them to take a look at mine in the hope that they will replace their link with my more up to date page. The problem is a LOT of the high value links they have (many .edu links) are from old, now unmaintained pages, where I have no chance of getting a link (or even contact with a webmaster) Its frustrating that they have so many good links to such an out of date page. I just wondered if any of you have had a similar situation. It just seems very hard to knock someone off that top spot if they have been established a long time, regardless of the quality of their content. I guess there is no solution to it except to find lot of other high value links myself - so not so much a question as a comment really! but happy to hear peoples own experiences of that sort of situation.

Splitting up pages with more then a 100 links
I got a couple of pages with more then a 100 pages / links on them and thus Seomoz gives me warnings for those pages. For some categories i have over a hundred of pages. I listed all these on 1 sitemap (html) because it is a quick overview for visitors which pages there are. Is it smarter to split them up or is that pollution of the Internet (almost identical pages). If i did so i would use rel="canonical" link to the first page (the original) but is it wise?

What are some good easy links to get for new sites?
We are in the process of launching a couple of new sites and while we know it will be a long process to get them to rank, achieving some long-tail keywords would be beneficial. What sites would you recommend for getting some easy links to start with that can help the indexation and ranking process along in the preliminary stages? Or another way to put the question - when you launch a new site, what steps do you go through?
