Does Not listing the prices on my website hurt?
-
Hey Mozers,
I currently run a catalog type website and there are no prices listed. Would you happen to have an article of some sort that could back up why not listing prices is bad?
I'm trying to express the importance of listing prices on the website.
Can anyone help, The more articles the better!

without a price, how can I determine if you are making the best offer...this IMHO is so important for commodity products...
-
Agree,
Use your own client's data to support this theory.
- Compare his or her site data to industry average conversion and bounce rates.
- Survey the site's top competitors. Note how many do and don't show prices. Point out that the top ecommerce sites all list prices.
- Suggest a customer survey or A/B testing to understand why people don't convert.
- Look at your client's and competitor reviews and site mentions using Moz's own Fresh Web Explorer. What are prospects and customers saying about your client and competitors's sites? Are prices discussed?
Build a case for what seems like common sense to the rest of us.
If your client is like the one Lee describes (fuel, with fluctuating prices), then you should at least provide something helpful like "We don't list prices because they fluctuate daily. Please refer to X to gauge industry pricing."

It is definitely better to advertise with the prices. It is suspicious when sites don't have their prices up and extremely frustrating for the searcher. What is good for the searcher is good for the search engine.

Hey,
I don't know about the benefits, but I do know that when ever I'm looking for a product I like to see the price.
A genuine recent example;
In November I wanted to purchase some calor gas for heating , I searched locally for a supplier and none of them listed a price, you had to call for a price - in hindsight this is probably to do with fluctuating gas prices. Anyhow I didn't buy from any of them. I asked a neighbour who they bought from and how much they charged and I purchased from their supplier. For all I knew the other suppliers were cheaper, but I didn't buy because I didn't know!
Its a matter of understanding modern internet users, my experience is that people have a low patience thresh hold and if they can't find what they want, they'll move on and search elsewhere, its a lot easier to click back than pick up the phone, I also think that seeing the price is an important piece of information, but that's just me,
Sorry I know this isn't the technical answer you were looking for, but I saw your question and was reminded of searching for gas last month.
Cheers, Lee

What would the US traffic increase be for a website YoY if all Google SERP rankings remained the same?
This question has come up a few times with some of our clients and I've spent some time researching this question, but I can't find an answer online so hopefully, someone at MOZ has this data available to them with all the data they collect. The data points that would be needed to answer this question off the top of my head: Increase in the # of Google Searches in the US YoY The decrease in CTR for organic results "10 blue links" which take a searcher off of Google YoY, as Google continues to keep more searchers on Google.com with rich snippets, increased AdWords prominence, AdWords extensions, etc I'm sure this greatly varies per industry, but an average for all industries is all that is needed to answer this client question. Many thanks in advance and I've included a video which hopefully helps to better explain the search "plus/minus" that we can expect to see as SEOs in 2018. WF1yLlJC6LetnpbD3

Long list or paginated pages
Hi peeps, I am just interested in this from a usability POV and to see what you would prefer to see when you are met with a page that has multiple options. Lets say that the page looks like a list of services, each clearly marked out in its own segment, but there are 50-60 options that match your requirements. Do you like to keep scrolling, or would you prefer to take what is there and then move on if you feel you want to dig deeper? Would you like to see a long list, of have the options loaded in as you get to them? -Andy

Does anyone know of a predictive demographics software that helps a website predict its audience based on cookies, or whatever info it has?
Hi guys, I'm looking for a predictive analytics software for better understanding our audience online. Has anyone heard of or used a software that takes the visitors currently coming to your site and uses that data to 'predict' more information about them? Such as age, location, purchasing power, etc? Please let me know if you have!

My website disappears off google!
So this might be kinda of a weird question... Every morning and night I check the ranking of a website that I am building.. The ranking has gone up a lot the last two months. It went from the fifth page to now the second page. I have a issue where some days I check Google my website is completely gone! I go through every page for my keyword and it's not there! After a couple of days of frustration I check again and all of a sudden it is there but now at a higher ranking... I went through the code to make sure there's a not a not follow code in the robots.txt page... Btw another weird thing is so then I look up my website on a google out of country like google.sg and I'm ranking first page like number 5 but again disappeared off google usa. Literally driving my crazy.. does anyone know why this could be? Btw the first time it disappeared I went into webmasters and sent a request because I thought I got penalized but they responded they could not find any spam and I was NOT penalized...

Spammy website dominating SERPs! Why!?
Hey guys, I've recently noticed that a series of EMDs have been setup to completely spam an extensive set of keywords - and it seems to be working. All of the URLs are keyword targeted with tons of keyword variations. And they're getting massive ranking preference over a number of more established websites. These are just an example of some of the domains; diykitchens1.co.uk fittedkitchens1.co.uk cheapkitchens1.co.uk kitchenunits1.co.uk And then there's loads of local targeted domains such as; kitchensglasgow1.co.uk kitchensedinburgh1.co.uk Again, all of these are getting high ranking with what seems to be duplicated websites. It's pretty bizarre. Will Google penalise these sites? Surely they will?

How can we provide geo-detection without hurting SEO?
We represent a franchise, and the parent site does well for head terms, but we want to add a feature with the nearest location to a consumer based on geo-detection. We don't want to hurt the rankings for broad head terms. Could we use an iFrame to present the closest shop without affecting the general SEO we have done?
