Need assistance in improving SEO of website

Dear SEO Expert,
We run a website www.guitarmonk.com. Moz has told us of some errors at our website viz.:
Especially duplicate content etc and whatever in addition you suggest should be good for the website for certain relative important keywords.

Hi Kumar,
Moz has a great list of companies that they recommend working with. You can check out the full list here

As I mentioned before I would recommend concentrating on reading the Moz Guide to SEO then systematically checking and improving your site in accordance with the advice. At that point ask any questions you have on here - this is a brilliant community with lots of clever people so you are sure to get some great help.
Reading the guide should remove this confusion and it might well bring up some more specific questions. At the minute I am snowed under and won't be able to jump on a call, but any specific questions or elements you are struggling with bring them to the community and ask. Try to be a specific as possible and give examples if you can this will allow people to help you. You are welcome to drop me a private message, but as I say there are lots of experienced people on here and getting more than one persons advice and experience is what makes this community invaluable. You also have members all over the world so you are likely to get a quicker response posting on here rather than waiting for one member to come online.
Hope this helps

Sure Matt,
I will read out the article links you shared. I know there is a symmetry of things to be rectified in the website related to 301 redirect would help.
Can you have a look at it for a while ?. Being candid, I am already confused on how to do it if someone can guide me for even 5 minutes and I am sure I can do it.
A Viber call can work :-).

Hi Kumar
Oh ok - that makes sense well there are lots of people that can help you on here - however I would consider having a go at some of it yourself as your site isn't huge and you could improve some of the basics before getting help. The resources above should really help and off course you have the community to turn to - just a suggestion to help you get the most for your money. As ever I guess this boils down to your time available and budget - good luck
Best Regards,
Matt

Hi
In terms of how you can handle duplicate content I would suggest having a look at this guide from Moz themselves - http://moz.com/learn/seo/duplicate-content - if you then have specific questions don't hesitate to come back and put them to the community - you are sure to find some great advice.
In terms of how you can improve your websites SEO I would suggest that you look at Moz's free guide to SEO - there are lots of things that you can do to get your websites ranking improving for keywords that you are targeting.
http://moz.com/beginners-guide-to-seo
I see your website is on WordPress - I would recommend that you consider installing the Yoast SEO plugin - it will help you optimise your site in terms of SEO. This will also help guide you on how to use it -

This is a guide from the creator.

SEO'ing a sports advice website
Hi Team Moz, Despite being in tech/product development for 10+ years, I'm relatively new to SEO (and completely new to this forum) so was hoping for community advice before I dive in to see how Google likes (or perhaps doesn't) my soon to be built content. I'm building a site (BetSharper, an early-stage work in progress) that will deliver practical, data orientated predictive advice prior to sporting events commencing. The initial user personas I am targeting would need advice on specific games so, as an example, I would build a specific page for the upcoming Stanley Cup Game 1 between the Capitals and the Tampa Bay Lighting. I'm in the midst of keyword research and believe I have found some easier to achieve initial keywords (I'm realistic, building my DA will take time!) that include the team names but don't reference dates or state of the tournament. The question is, hypothetically if I ranked for this page for this sporting event this year, would it make sense to refresh the same page with 2019 matchup content when they meet again next year, or create a new page? I am assuming I would be targeting the same intended keywords but wondering if I get google credit for 2018 engagement post 2019 refresh. Or should I start fresh with a new page and specifically target keywords afresh each time? I read some background info on canonical tabs but wasn't sure if it was relevant in my case. I hope I've managed to articulate myself on what feels like an edge case within the wonderful world of SEO. Any advice the community delivers would be much appreciated...... Kind Regards James.

Lightboxes and SEO
Do lightboxes (AKA popup boxes when you click "learn more" type CTAs) have any negative effect on SEO? We are looking at revamping our sites to have more of a tiled approach, and a lightbox with summary content popping out with additional CTAs, directing to pages with more information or free trial pages. Is there any downside to this approach from an organic perspective? is there anything specific to keep in mind when creating these if not?

Website Redirection Issue
Hi All, Like to know is there any better way to do 301 redirection. My Client whose website name is Online Plants created with OpenCart. Over the period of time he added nearly 10,000's of products and now he is cleaning them ( by grouping similar attribute under one products) which is right way to do. For example , Product A with different size ( X,XL,XXL ) previously had 3 product entry ( A - X, A - XL, A - XXL ) , now he is moving all of them under one. So while moving he is deleting the other two entry. Now whats the best way to inform google . Putting a manual 301 redirection for each and every product is impossible as there are more products. Whats the best way to go ahead on this.

Mobile SEO? Do we need it or not?
Hi Guys, I am about to start to redesigning a new mobile website and am curious if mobile SEO is actually having an affect or not. The site I am doing the redesign for, already has a very well optimized desktop site and has an existing mobile website with no optimization. The mobile website is ranking well in Mobile search so I am curious why I I would need to optimize the new mobile website properly, especially when the mobile website has a canonical tag for its desktop counter part? Love to get everyone's thoughts on this & where they see mobile SEO going in the next 12 months.

I have a nice list of ideas but thought I would the brilliant people here at the SEOMOZ community what they would do. So as to promote as much response as possible, I'm going to keep my list to myself for now. And by "SEO", I mean I can do things like content strategy, blogging, infographics, etc. Shoot away!
