Will a blog post about a collection of useful tools and web resources for a specific niche being seen as negative by google for too many links?
-
SEO newbie here, I'm thinking about creating a blog post about a collection of useful tools and web resources for my specific niche. It'd be 300 links or more, but with comments, and categorized nicely. It'd be a useful resource for my target audience to bookmark, and share.
Will google see this as a negative? If so, what's the best way to do such a blog post?
Thanks

All really good answers. Looks like a visual graphical resource guide will be the way to both provide value and no having too many links on the page.
thanks guys.

Course same value to the reader of that post if you just LIST the URLs, and do NOT make them real live links...
Value passed on still, eh!

Yunyi,
Definitely going to go with grobro here. 300 links is a heck of a lot to place on any single post, and might be seen as spam. If possible, try to break them down into categories and create separate pages that are directly relevant to a specific topic or set of industry tools.
Not only will this make your information more accessible to your readers and avoid search penalties, but it makes for a much more natural link-building opportunity in the future once you begin marketing your content to relevant sites for those powerful backlinks. It also means that you will be able to market your content to a wider audience and improve brand recognition and potential client base.
At the end of the day, user experience is what drives major search engines, and as much as I love to read and get new information, I think any article with more than 25-30 links would be information overload and would start becoming irrelevant if the author wasn't being careful.
If nothing else, create categories according to your needs (alphabetic, best to worst, newest to oldest, by manufacturer or provider, by domain) and place them on your site to break the information up. This will organize the information and make it clear to your users where they want to go (and what pages they wish to bookmark).
Hope this helps and best of luck!
Rob

Hello Yunyi,
In my personal opinion, 300 outbound links on a single page are way too much. There is no exact rule for this but for highly authoritative sites I would say the maximum is around 80 outbound links. It also depends on how relevant and valuable they are for your visitors. If there is no way around, I personally would nofollow them.
But do you think anyone would read a post about 300 tools? I would break it down to the 15 best tools for example, otherwise your readers could be overwhelmed.
This is just my opinion, I hope it helps at least a little bit.

Should products descriptions be made in to blog posts?
Howdy, Here's a situation I got myself into. For the past few months, I've been planning to start up an e-commerce business. I've got my homework done - created product design, wrote value-adding product descriptions and a few regular blog posts in order to start providing content right away. Recently, I've got some news that the product I was about to sell won't be arriving for at least a month longer. Here's what I am considering: In order to make the start of the business smoother and gain attention quicker, it would make sense to start building a presence in advance. What I am considering now is instead of using the product descriptions I have for their original purpose, I could make them into a handful of blog posts with WordPress. I am relatively sure that with proper promotion, people would find them interesting, as they answer common industry questions in a unique, entertaining way. However, I am not sure what implications would such move have for my business in the longer term, especially when it actually starts selling products. I would switch to the Shopify platform, which would probably mean I would have to transfer my blog posts onto another platform? Maybe I should just wait till I have all my products ready and stick with the plan, instead of using the content I have for the blog right now? If I should indeed go through with the blog first, what content would I later put in the product descriptions and what are the possible SEO consequences? I hope it is at least somewhat clear what my situation is. Thank you in advance for the help.

Should I Use the Disavow Tool to for a Spammy Site/Landing Page?
Here's the situation... There's a site that is linking to about 6 articles of mine from about 225 pages of theirs (according to info in GWT). These pages are sales landing pages looking to sell their product. The pages are pretty much identical but have different urls. (I actually have a few sites doing this to me.) Here's where I think it's real bad -- when they are linking to me you don't see the link on the page, you have to view the page source and search for my site's url. I'm thinking having a hidden url, and it being my article that's hidden, has got to be bad. That on top of it being a sales page for a product I've seen traffic to my site dropping but I don't have a warning in GWT. These aren't links that I've placed or asked for in any way. I don't see how they could be good for me and I've already done what I could to email the site to remove the links (I didn't think it would work but thought I'd at least try). I totally understand that the site linking to me may not have any affect on my current traffic. So should I use the Disavow tool to make sure this site isn't counting against me?

Google webmaster tools says access denied for 77 urls
Hi i am looking in google webmaster tools and i have seen a major problem which i hope people can help me sort out. The problem is, i am being told that 77 urls are being denied access. The message when i look for more information says the below Googlebot couldn't crawl your URL because your server either requires login to access the page, or is blocking Googlebot from accessing your site. the responce code is 403 here is a couple of examples http://www.in2town.co.uk/Entertainment-Magazine http://www.in2town.co.uk/Weight-Loss-Hypnotherapy-helped-woman-lose-3-stone i think the problem could be that i have sent them to another url in my httaccess file using the 403 re-direct but why would it bring up that google bot could not crawl them any help would be great

Advice on too many onpage links
Hi Just done a 250 crawl on a new site I am working on (still under development), all 250 pages seem to have too many on page links, however they do not have any links I can take away This page, for example, http://empleous.com/gb/store/category/398743/shoes?price=20-50 has (according to moz crawl) 252 links on. Seems a little high. What would be the best way to correct this please? I cannot find that many links. I know there are about 85 links in the menu bar but they are all needed and none of the others can really be replaced either. Thanks Carl

Site just will not be reincluded in Google's Index
I asked a question about this site (www.cookinggames.com.au) some time ago http://www.seomoz.org/qa/view/38488/site-indexing-google-doesnt-like-it and had some very helpful answers which were great. However I'm still no further ahead. I have added some more content, submitted a new XML sitemap, removed the 'lorem ipsum...' Now it seems that even Bing have ditched the site too. The number 1 result in Australia for the search term 'cooking games' is now this one - http://www.cookinggames.net.au/ which surely is not so much better to deserve a #1 spot whilst my site is deindexed? I have just had another reconsideration request 'denied' and am absolutely out of ideas/. If anyone can help suggest what I need to do... or even suggest how I can get feedback from the search engines what's wring that would be fantastic. Thank you David
