Influence The Google Knowledge Box/Knowledge Graph

Hi guys,
Not sure what the correct terminology is, i think its called the knowledge box. Screenshot:
Anyway i'm referring to the box which sometimes appears above organic listings which either explains the definition of a something like the case above or provides information regarding searchers query.
I was wondering if anyone knows how to get the knowledge box appearing when its not being displayed for a query it should be or influence what is contained in the box?
Has anyone seen any good write ups about this?

That is a pretty good example you have there of a slightly ... unexpected ... knowledge box!
The knowledge box can draw data from a number of places, as Ron mentions schema markup and google plus pages are used as are other online sources like wikipedia (which is the source in your example) and freebase listings. Dr Pete has written a number of posts about this which might help (here, here and here for example) and another good article on 'hacking' the knowledge graph here.
The particular case you mention is a definition box and is driven from wikipedia and might be pretty difficult to change, if you are looking to influence knowledge graph data about a company or an entity the above links should help.

The knowledge graph is driven by schema. I would go to schema.org. Learn it, live it, love it ;). If you are on the word press platform there are several plug ins that will help you set up your schema for you. If you have not read this link it does a good job explaining why this resource wad created and what Google's goals are: http://www.google.com/insidesearch/features/search/knowledge.html
The other source of this information is the Google+ Page for the company. I strongly recommend that you fill this out completely. I would strongly recommend your client upload relevant pictures with good alternative text for each shot. This information can get replicated to the knowledge graph as well.

I just opened my G Search Console and was shocked to see more than 150 Not Found errors under Crawl errors. Putting my content under domain.com/content, or under related categories: domain.com/bikes/content ?
Hello This questions plays on what Joe Hall talked about during this years' MozCon: Rethinking Information Architecture for SEO and Content Marketing. My Case:

So.. we're working out guidelines and templates for a costumer (sporting goods store) on how to publish content (articles, videos, guides) on their category pages, product pages, and other pages. At this moment I have 2 choices:
1. Use a url-structure/information architecture where all the content is placed in one subfolder, for example domain.com/content. Although it's placed here, there's gonna be extensive internal linking from /content to the related category pages, so the content about bikes (even if it's placed under domain.com/bikes) will be just as visible on the pages related to bikes. 2. Place the content about bikes on a subdirectory under the bike category, **for example domain.com/bikes/content. ** The UX/interface for these two scenarios will be identical, but the directories/folder-hierarchy/url structure will be different. According to Joe Hall, the latter scenario will build up more topical authority and relevance towards the category/topic, and should be the overall most ideal setup. Any thoughts on which of the two solutions is the most ideal? PS: There is one critical caveat her: my costumer uses many url-slugs subdirectories for their categories, for example domain.com/activity/summer/bikes/, which means the content in the first scenario will be 4 steps away from the home page. I've got duplicate pages. For example, blog/page/2 is the same as author/admin/page/2\. Is this something I should just ignore, or should I create the author/admin/page2 and then 301 redirect?
I'm going through the crawl report and it says I've got duplicate pages. For example, blog/page/2 is the same as author/admin/page/2/ Now, the author/admin/page/2 I can't even find in WordPress, but it is the same thing as blog/page/2 nonetheless. Google not displaying meta description
Hi, one of my clients is receiving the following error in SERP - "A description of the page is not available because of this site's robots.txt". The site is built on WordPress and I realized that by default, the settings were checked to blocks bots from crawling the site. So, I turned it off, fixed robots.txt and submitted the sitemap again. Since, then it's been almost 10 days, the problem still exists. Can anyone tell me what should be done to fix it or if there's a way to get Google to recrawl the pages again.

Is there any SEO advantage to sharing links on twitter using google's url shortener goo.gl/
Hi is there any advantage to using <cite class="vurls">goo.gl/</cite> to shorten a URL for Twitter instead of other ones? I had a thought that <cite class="vurls">goo.gl/</cite> might allow google to track click throughs and hence judge popularity.

Google is mixing subdomains. What can we do?
Hi! I'm experiencing something that's kind of strange for me. I have my main domain let's say: www.domain.com. Then I have my mobile version in a subdomain: mobile.domain.com and I also have a german version of the website de.domain.com. When I Google my domain I have the main result linking to: www.domain.com but then Google mixes all the domains in the sites links. For example a Sing in may be linking mobile.domain.com, a How it works link may be pointing to de.domain.com, etc What's the solution? I think this is hurting a lot my position cause google sees that all are the same domain when clearly is not. thanks!!

How to get the 'show map of' tag/link in Google search results
I have 2 clients that have apparently random examples of the 'show map of' link in Google search results. The maps/addresses are accurate and for airports. They are both aggregators, they service the airports e.g. lax airport shuttle (not actual example) BUT DO NOT have Google Place listings for these pages either manually OR auto populated from Google, DO NOT have the map or address info on the pages that are returned in the search results with the map link. Does anyone know how this is the case? Its great that this happens for them but id like to know how/why so I can replicate across all their appropriate pages. My understanding was that for this to happen you HAD to have Google Place pages for the appropriate pages (which they cant do as they are aggregators). Thanks in advance, Andy
