Redirect old shop to new domain
-
I have an old Magento shop placed on a subdomain: http://webshop.teamout.dk/
Now I have created a new shop in another store system called ShopOrama on a new rootdomain:
What is the best way to get all my already indexed sites from google to redirect to my new site with the new META title + description?
I have tried the Magento > Catalog > URL Rewrite, but it contains over 500 redirects already and making custom redirects for all my sites will take a lot of time.
Because of the old site being a subdomain I can't change address in GWT.
I'm looking forward to your solutions

I have made redirects for all my products on my old site at:
To my new shop at:
What to do with the indexed pages of my old site? I would like the earned index status to refer to my new domain.
Using the site:webshop.teamout.dk returns 255 indexed pages:In Google Webmaster Tools I can't change the address, because of the domain being a subdomain. Any thoughts about getting my old domain indexed pages removed from Google?

Having that many redirects in HTACCESS will use a lot of resources, especially if you get a lot of traffic. Try to get the URL structure as close as possible to cut down on the extra redirects. If that is not possible, then you will have to take the time and manually redirect each page to the new one. 500 is not really that many, and could most likely be finished in a full day, perhaps 1.5 days.
After you get all the pages redirected to the proper page on you new site, make sure you submit and updated sitemap and fetch request to get things moving. If you notice a drop in performance after redirecting the URLs I would look into a rewrite map.

I am nor able to have the same URL structure.
Should I make the redirects in .htaccess?

Hi Nicolai,
If you can make your URL structure the same you should just be able to do a 301 redirect rule in .htaccess. If the structure is the same then you'll only need 1 redirect instead of many.
For the title & meta descriptions, update them on your new site and the updated meta data take affect once Google has indexed the new site and redirects.
Here's a resource for more info on 301 redirects: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/93633?hl=en
Note: If your old domain has bad links or has been penalised, you may want to consider a 302 redirect so your new site doesn't inherit the old site issues.

Google is still indexing the old domain a year after 301 redirects are put in place
Hi there, You might have experienced this before but for me this is the first. A client of mine moved from domain A (www.domainA.com) to domain B (www.domainB.com). 301 redirects are all in place for over a year. But the old domain is still showing in Google when you search for "site:domainA.com" The HTTP Header check shows this result for the URL https://www.domainA.com/company/cookie-policy.aspx HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently =>

Edit: Checked the domainA.com on bing and it seems that its not indexed, and replaced with domainB.com, which is the right. Just Google is indexing the old domain! Please let me know your thoughts on why this is happening. Best,0 -

Best Practice - Disavow tool for non-canonical domain, 301 Redirect
The Situation: We submitted to the Disavow tool for a client who (we think) had an algorithmic penalty because of their backlink profile. However, their domain is non-canonical. We only had access to http://clientswebsite.com in Webmaster Tools, so we only submitted the disavow.txt for that domain. Also, we have been recommending (for months - pre disavow) they redirect from http://clientswebsite.com to http://www.clientswebsite.com, but aren't sure how to move forward because of the already submitted disavow for the non-www site. 1.) If we redirect to www. will the submitted disavow transfer or follow the redirect? 2.) If not, can we simply re-submit the disavow for the www. domain before or after we redirect? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

Should I make a new URL just so it can include a target keyword, then 301 redirect the old URL?
This is for an ecommerce site, and the company I'm working with has started selling a new line of products they want to promote.Should I make a new URL just so it can include a target keyword, then 301 redirect the old URL? One of my concerns is losing a little bit of link value from redirecting. Thank you for reading!

If I switch my domain name, will I keep link juice from redirect?
I am moving one of my sites wellington-florida-homes.com to a new domain (wellingtonfloridahomes.com). Most of our link-juice is coming from another domain we purchased (theshockleyteam.com) that is redirected to our primary site. If I simply redirect theshockleyteam.com to our new domain (wellingtonfloridahomes.com) I will still have the link juice passing through, right? Thanks!

301 Redirect
The SEOmoz crawl campaign found some 404 errors in my Joomla site poker-brands.ca. So, I figured I would set up 301 redirects in my hosting account to make sure bots don't read that there is a page missing. For example: This link gave a 404 error in the crawl: http://www.poker-brands.ca/download-pokertracker-software/holdemmanager I redirected it to: http://www.poker-brands.ca/download-pt3-pokertracker-software/holdemmanager-hem-hm2 However, when I visit the first link it doesn't send me to the second link. Am I supposed to get forwarded to the second link now?

Old owners links pointing to new owners domain
We have a number of web sites. We recently acquired an excellent domain name, it happened to be owned by one of our competitors. Our competitor has a lot of web sites, each domain having a basic 5 page unoptimized site with one of those pages little more than a link farm. They have over three hundred domains with all but lets say 10 of them consisting of basic 5 page sites with a link "directory" on one of those pages. - the directory page is the same on every single site/domain. One of the links from that directory is going to our newly acquired domain and newly optimized web site. Being new to this, should this pose any kind of concern for us? Thanks in advance!
