New pages on my web site
-
I have created web sites that appear somewhere on Google in hardly any time at all,
but I appear to have forgotten something or things are different for pages added recently to an existing website.
I have added a page on a particular subject, optimized it using on page grader, so that I get an A, and a check mark for everything except H1 tags and rel=canonical which my web hosting provider does not support. I do have a check mark for accessible to search engines
The page has the format http://www.domain.com/specific-keyword
It is in the menu, so should have internal links to it, as I understand it.
I have created a new site map, and submitted it in webmaster tools.
Interestingly it says that of the 96 pages only 76 were indexed
is this a clue? and why would they not index a page
I have then shared the page on google plus, facebook, tumblr, pinterest and twitter and some others
In OSE it comes up as domain authority 28 page authority 1, the social media shares do show up in metrics on the right but no links internal or external are shown, they do on other pages I created in the same way.
Is it just a case of waiting or is their something I do to help
thank you
-
As Ryan mentioned, OSE is updated on a schedule. Our next update is scheduled for March 11th. We try to update it -- barring any technical difficulties -- at least once a month.
-
That has definitely fixed the problem the page is on the second page of google
and I can carry on building it up
Thanks very much
-
Ok my site is back up and the new robots, txt file has been uploaded and submitted to google,
I have tested that the site map is allowing robots.
and it is, but no change yet to the OSE and search results.
I will wait to see if these are any changes
Thanks again

hmm I found a robots.txt editor in Google webmaster tools
downloaded the new file and uploaded it to my file manager
then discovered that my whole site had crashed page not found
dunno if I caused it, or the host was already having probems
gotta wait and see now, Their live chat help is also not working and I have sent an email so it does look like it's their problem
How can the robots.txt file have changed if I did not do it
-
You'll want to contact your hosting company or look at their FAQ on how to edit robots.txt. Cheers!
-
actually there is no file of that name in my file manager
-
hmm delete the line?, would it work if I deleted the file upload a blank text file named robots.txt
-
That certainly could be causing problems. It'd be best to delete that line.
-
thanks for the quick response I looked in robots.txt and found this:
User-agent: * Disallow: Sitemap: http://www.realsingingtelegrams.com/sitemap.xml is that causing the problem?
-
GWT very infrequently shows a 100% of pages submitted via sitemap matching pages indexed, but there could be a few very reasonable reasons for this. For example, you could be disallowing a portion of pages in your robots.txt file that are listed in your sitemap.
As for OSE explorer, you're most likely looking at link data from prior to the last update. In that case, any linking and work done won't be recorded by OSE until the next update is made live. Here's the latest on their scheduling: http://moz.com/products/api. Short answer: keep doing what you're doing, and wait a bit on the reporting numbers to update. Cheers!

Why is my page rank disapointing
Hi fairly new here, so just getting used to everything one questions please. Just ran a crawl test of the website and this page http://www.livingphilosophy.org.uk/teaching-philosophy/index.htm came back with a page authority of 1. Other pages have a rank of 18 through 26 scratched my head for a few hours and came up with no ideas. thanks andy

What to do with a site of >50,000 pages vs. crawl limit?
What happens if you have a site in your Moz Pro campaign that has more than 50,000 pages? Would it be better to choose a sub-folder of the site to get a thorough look at that sub-folder? I have a few different large government websites that I'm tracking to see how they are fairing in rankings and SEO. They are not my own websites. I want to see how these agencies are doing compared to what the public searches for on technical topics and social issues that the agencies manage. I'm an academic looking at science communication. I am in the process of re-setting up my campaigns to get better data than I have been getting -- I am a newbie to SEO and the campaigns I slapped together a few months ago need to be set up better, such as all on the same day, making sure I've set it to include www or not for what ranks, refining my keywords, etc. I am stumped on what to do about the agency websites being really huge, and what all the options are to get good data in light of the 50,000 page crawl limit. Here is an example of what I mean: To see how EPA is doing in searches related to air quality, ideally I'd track all of EPA's web presence. www.epa.gov has 560,000 pages -- if I put in www.epa.gov for a campaign, what happens with the site having so many more pages than the 50,000 crawl limit? What do I miss out on? Can I "trust" what I get? www.epa.gov/air has only 1450 pages, so if I choose this for what I track in a campaign, the crawl will cover that subfolder completely, and I am getting a complete picture of this air-focused sub-folder ... but (1) I'll miss out on air-related pages in other sub-folders of www.epa.gov, and (2) it seems like I have so much of the 50,000-page crawl limit that I'm not using and could be using. (However, maybe that's not quite true - I'd also be tracking other sites as competitors - e.g. non-profits that advocate in air quality, industry air quality sites - and maybe those competitors count towards the 50,000-page crawl limit and would get me up to the limit? How do the competitors you choose figure into the crawl limit?) Any opinions on which I should do in general on this kind of situation? The small sub-folder vs. the full humongous site vs. is there some other way to go here that I'm not thinking of?

'Duplicate Page Content' for dissimilar pages
I'm using Moz's Crawl Diagnostics to try and clean up some SEO priorities for our website (http://www.craftcompany.co.uk) HOWEVER, virtually all of the pages that are being categorised as duplicate content are not the same, or indeed similar. For instance, these three pages have been deemed duplicated pages; http://www.craftcompany.co.uk/pme-rose-leaf-veined-plunger.html http://www.craftcompany.co.uk/double-faced-satin-ribbon-black-25mm-wide.html http://www.craftcompany.co.uk/double-faced-satin-maroon-10mm-wide-25mt.html Can anyone give me an insight into why this is? Many Thanks! http://www.craftcompany.co.uk/

Lots of 404s listed in Top Pages by Page Authority
Hi guys, I'm slowly getting to grips with all the aspects of using Moz.
Moz Pro | | giddygrafix
Looking at my link analysis, under the tab labelled Top Pages by Page Authority, there's an awful lot of 404 pages listed. Are these pages which are being linked to (either internally or externally), and should I put a 301 redirect on all the pages listed? I've attached a picture... moz-screen-shot.jpg0 -
Where do these error 404 pages come from
Hi, I've got a list of about 12 url's in our 404 section on here which I'm confused about. The url's relate to Christmas so they have not been active for 9 months. Can anyone answer where the SeoMoz crawler found these url's as they are not linked to on the website. Thanks

I need a tool/tools to extract keywords from say 50 sites in one niche and then check the rank tor those sites
This is for telemarketing of seo services I want to have some insight into an industry before I call them could this be done with the adwords keyword tool api and then exported to excel. It would also be nice to have data on backlinks say from seo moz opensite explorer.. Its just that the research you do before you even call a potential client is so time consuming and you can never really check to see how they are ranking for there main keywords manually. We are trying to automate as much of this initial research as possible... Any Idea's Thanks
