Should I change PDF content?
-
Hi everybody,
My Website is ranking well for several keywords and long-tail keywords. However, all these visits are going directly to some .PDF guides that exist on our products and information on industry sectors the company is based around.
I feel the PDF's are bad simply because they dont offer easy interaction with the rest of the website. I am considering making each PDF into a webpage but am not 100% sure of the pro's and cons of doing so. I will still need to the PDF's accessible for user to download but don't want my new webpages to get tagged as duplicate content.
Is it possible to,
1 - change the PDF's so they send any link authority to the new webpage
2 - make google aware that I want the webpage not the PDF to be the "ranking" pageWhat is the likely hood of destroying my rank for these keywords on the PDF by making these changes and then not being able to rank the webpage for the same keywords? It would be pointless if I just lost all the traffic lol.

Hi,
You can give PDF links along with content so if any user want to download they can download PDF.
e.g Please see at the bottom of below link

Thanks

Only issue with this is that it makes people wanting the access to PDF unable to do so.

Hi,
Use 301 redirect to pass the link authority to the new webpage. If you have any follow up question please post.I would also like to suggest you to wait for few more responses from eminent members of this community.
Thanks

Duplicate content in sidebar
Hi guys. So I have a few sentences (about 50 words) of duplicate content across all pages of my website (this is a repeatable text in sidebar). Each page of my website contains about 1300 words (unique content) in total, and 50 words of duplicate content in sidebar. Does having a duplicate content of this length in sidebar affect the rankings of my website in any way? Thank you so much for your replies.

Expired Content for Annual Events - Advice Please?
Hi, I've started working with a client that provides VIP packages for various sporting events. They have a number of landing pages for these specific events that happen every year. What's the best way to go about maintaining traffic and optimising these pages going forward? I looked to see how some of their competitors are handling this and they seem to create a new landing page for the following year and simply add a '301 Permanent Redirect' to the old (expired event) so it points to the next one. Is this the best approach or is there a better way to handle this? Alternatively, would it be OK to simply change the dates on the existing page to the following years dates (when available) or simply add a 'Dates TBC' with some basic information. Help/advice would be appreciated 🙂

Keeping SEO benefit of an old URL by changing content
We have a blog written in Oct 2012 that accounts for 30-40% of our traffic (174K pageviews per year/80% bounce rate). We are considering updating the content but are concerned that it will fall off the search engine's map if the content is updated to include information that is not exactly the same, but relevant. The URL would be the same and the original blog content would be shortened with a link to the full blog. The new content would include other FDA products under investigation. Here is the blog: http://myadvocates.com/blog/fda-issues-warning-about-so-called-brain-supplement-prevagen

Duplicate content and the Moz bot
Hi Does our little friend at SEOmoz follow the same rules as the search engine bots when he crawls my site? He has sent thousands of errors back to me with duplicate content issues, but I thought I had removed these with nofollow etc. Can you advise please.

Duplicate content on homepage?
Hi I have just created a new campaign and it states that I have duplicate page content which would affect search rankings. Basically it is counting my site www.mydomain.com and www.mydomain.com/index.php as two seperate pages. How can I make it so that only www.mydomain.com is visible reducing the duplicate content issue? Many Thanks

Site just crawled and report shows many duplicate pages but doesn't tell me which ones are dups of each other. For you experienced duplicate page experts, do you have a subscription with copyscape and pay $.05 per test? What is the best way to clear these? Thanks in advance
