How to find a skilled SEO sparing partner
-
We are in need of a skilled SEO sparring partner to work with.
We have already done a lot of SEO optimization but the results has not been as good as we hoped.
I believe that might be some issues regarding structure or backlinks holding us back from getting results as I can see many competitors with almost no on page optimization or quality backlinks ranking better than us.
I want to find someone who can audit our page find the problems. Also set some guidelines on what we should fix and work on to improve the overall rankings fast.
Thanks!

As far as my experience goes you are looking for a person who can audit your website and pinpoint the areas that are week and more importantly answer the question that why your competitors that haven’t really done any on-page is ranking better than you.
Once done with that, you obviously want them to work on the project accordingly. My idea is to look for the list of service providers that are recommended by Moz: http://moz.com/article/recommended
Another option could be to meet service providers in your local area and have one-to-one conversation about your website. Ask them some tough questions and if they are answering satisfied question my idea is to go with them.
I did a post about how to hire a digital marketing consultant for your business. Check this out and see if tips here can help!

Hi Martin
We worked on page SEO and created special pages for a list of 25 keywords.
We also optimized the speed and responsiveness of the page.
We are the most active on Social Media of our competitors
We also started working on Backlinks and I feel when I compare our profile we have link of the same quality as the top ranking sites.
I fear that there is some structure or technical issues or something with the backlink profile that cause we don’t rank as well as I hope.
We are ranked between no. 11 to 30 on the 25 keywords and the goal would be to get half of the keywords in top 10 within 2 months.

What are your expectations for the work that has been done so far and what has been focused on so far?

Pagination & SEO
Hi In one of my other Q&A's someone mentioned I may need to look at pagination. For instance, are these pages counted as 'new' pages in Google's eyes when clicking on pagination? http://www.key.co.uk/en/key/plastic-storage-boxes http://www.key.co.uk/en/key/plastic-storage-boxes#productBeginIndex:30&orderBy:5&pageView:list& Does anyone have any advice on what I could do? It's not something I have had much experience with. Thank you Becky

Is tabbed content bad for SEO?
I work for a Theater show listings and ticketing website. In our show listings pages (e.g. http://www.theatermania.com/broadway/this-is-our-youth_302998/) we split our content into separate tabs (overview, pricing and show dates, cast, and video). Are we shooting ourselves in the foot by separating the content? Are we better served with keeping it all in a single page? Thanks so much!

Hi guys (first time posting). I'm involved in many differnt marketing activities on an ecommerce site and don't always get a lot of time to focus on SEO (although I appreciate its importance). What are your tips for the most effective SEO tasks to focus on considering these time constraints? Think 80/20 applied to SEO. Thanks. Paul

Are there any SEO Tips before killing a website?
Hey guys, My company acquired another company, and after a couple of months we decided to completely kill their website. I'm not finding any info about SEO best practices for this type of situation. From the "switching domains" and "new sites" articles and blog posts I can extrapolate that I should: 301 redirect their home page to ours Look at specific pages with good authority that relate to our pages and 301 them. Look at the strongest backlinks to their site and try to change them to point to our site. Create a 404 page for the rest of their webpages that tells them that we acquired the company (hopefully with a main menu and search bar) Any other suggestions?

Corporate pages and SEO help
We own and operate more than two dozen educational related sites. The business team is attempting to standardize some parts of our site hierarchy so that our sitemap.php, about.php, privacy.php and contact.php are all at the root directory. Our sitemap.php is generated by our sitemap.xml files, which are generated from our URLlist.txt files. I need to provide some feedback on this initiative. I'm worried about adding more stand-alone pages to our root directory and as part of a separate optimization in the future I was planning to suggest we group the "privacy", "about" and "contact" pages in a separate folder. We generally try to put our most important pages/directories for SEO in the root as our homepages pass a lot of link juice and have high authority. We do not invest SEO time into optimizing these pages as they're not pages we're trying to rank for, and I've already been looking into even no-following all links to them from our footer, sitemap, etc. I know that adding these "corporate" pages to a site are usually a standard part of the design process but is there any SEO benefit to having them at the root? And along the same lines, is there any SEO harm to having unimportant pages at the root? What do you guys think out there in Moz land?

Slooooow motion SEO impact
I could do with some help if anyone's got a minute. We've got this one client, no matter what we did (and we worked very hard on this site), nothing would really move. You'd get the usual fluctuations, and maybe some very small progress at times. This went on for an age... much, much longer than usual (and it wasn't even that competitive for keywords). Then suddenly, "Bam!" it shot up like a rocket for all it's main keywords and has stayed there since... more or less (and this was over a year ago). It was as if all the work we'd been doing was building up behind a door and then the door flew open so it could take affect. Anyway... it seems to be happening again, just to a different client with a different website (at least I hope that's what's happening or it might just stay non-affected by anything we do forever). We've checked everything. There's no crawling problems, again it's not all that competitive, the site already has some pretty good trust and authority, and it already ranks well for a bunch of stuff. The site and pages have plenty of age behind them too. Any ideas?
