Do you know any competitive landscape tool ?

Hello Moz community,
I wonder if you have tips / tools to build a good competitive landscape "picture" for your clients ?
When i'm working on a pre-sales audit, i like to generate 100/200 keywords related to my prospect universe and then show him how well/bad positioned he is on this "market".
To do so i use AdvancedWebRanking to monitor position of prospect + 3 competitors for this list of Keywords. Then i manually calculate a "market share" derived from each actor position.
I wonder if there is a tool that can automatically do it ? For a list of keywords that you input.

Hmm... This is really tough to automate as it can become really inclusive; meaning, often there's a one/two degrees of separation within search results where your client or their competitor could be discussed within the top ten of the search results. For example, the search could end up pulling a review site that's discussing client/comp products and then linking to them. While clicks would show up from this site as referrer the value associated with the ranking should also be part of a report like that.
What you might be able to do to convey the same idea but with quicker iterations would be to really lower the number of keywords that you're reporting on to a smaller level and then clustering them into representative batches. If they become a client you can bump up the reporting details, but at the initial stages you're really pitching your knowledge, service, and system. I think you could get that across with fewer keywords and deeper dives into the marketplace. That way you could present on options like advertising on sites that feature reviews of your competitors, print options in smaller / low-cost markets, image-map-knowledge box results, etc. Cheers!

Rank checking tool for keyword analysis
We are looking for an ideally free suitable rank checking tool to perform a keyword analysis. Previously we used Firefox Rank Checker but currently this is not working effectively as it once did. We use Authority Labs as a paid tool to track rankings but this is a rank tracking platform and not so effective for a once-off rank check to perform a keyword analysis. How would you optimise a site for close variations of a keyword, such as [data capture + application/app/software/technology/tool/solution]
Hey all, We're a data capture app looking to optimise our site: akkroo.com. There are lots of industry-specific & use-case-based content pages we can create, but how should we optimise our site to capture traffic for keywords that could (almost) be classified as synonyms? Particularly, I'm thinking keywords such as: data capture app data capture application data capture software data capture tool data capture tools data capture technology etc. My industry-specific pages will all have completely unique content, but I'm struggling to work out how I should architecture pages that target keywords that are almost identical, such as the list above. The content on these pages would technically be 'unique', but each page would be very similar to one another. And how would we link to these pages internally? I can't really see it adding to the user experience, but I can't see how I can target all of these keywords without having individual pages for each... Do you use broad match or exact match on Adwords Keyword Tool when doing keyword research?
I wasn't sure whether to classify this as a discussion or a question. I'd love "the right answer" but I'm not sure if we're going to get one... Let's try. When you use the Adwords Keyword Tool for doing keyword research, do you use the numbers from "broad match" or "exact match" when comparing relative search volume of keywords? (And yes, I know the numbers need to be taken with a grain of salt, but when it comes down to it, you're using the numbers to compare and come to conclusions regarding the best keyword to use - so which match type gives you the data you're looking for?) To be a little more specific - when you select "exact match" for, let's say the keyword "baking supplies", is that telling you how many people searched for that phrase within quotes <"baking supplies">, or how many people searched for only <baking supplies="">, as opposed to that word within a phrase <baking supplies="" stores="">or with the words reversed <supplies baking="">?</supplies></baking></baking> Based on some keyword research we had done a year ago where any phrase reversals like <water bottles="">and <bottles water="">were coming out with the exact same numbers, even when it wasn't so intuitive that there would be the same search volume, we came to the conclusion - with the tentative suggestion of the SEOMoz staff on the old Q & A - that broad match would include all instances of the keywords in reverse order, so if you wanted to know how many people were searching for <water bottles="">only, you needed to use exact match. </water></bottles></water> That's what we did for about a year (I also think I saw Rand mention that somewhere in a presentation slide recently, although I could be mistaken and I don't recall exactly where it was to check it up) and then based on a recent forum discussion I had where someone was questioning that premise, I did another check with two KW reversals and while <water bottles="">and <bottles water="">still give the same number, <baking supplies="">and <supplies baking="">do not. </supplies></baking></bottles></water> So I'm left with a big question here as to what the best policy is. Google Adwords Help is very vague on what the match type means in the tool (it seems to be talking about only your settings for your campaigns). So - any input after this long saga? Thanks!

Help selecting KWs based on their difficult to rank for and KW tool question
I've done all of my keyword research, and now I'm selecting the KW's. In a previous question, seomoz had answered to pick a mix of easy, medium, and difficult words to rank for. How do I know which are easy, medium, difficult? The KW Difficulty Tool is not very specific. Is the level of difficulty related to where the phrase pops up for my company in search results? Are hard words ones that you do not already rank in the top 50 search results? When selecting KWs should I choose words that rank already in the top 50 that I'd like to try to move up? Or look for NEW phrases/words not in the top 50 results? Also, when entering KW phrases int the KW Difficulty Tool, Rank Tracker, and in Campaigns - do I need to use quotation marks if it is a phrase? I noticed that the KW difficulty tool has different results if you use quotation marks. Lastly, The person who did SEO before me has a list of KWs he optimized for, would it be valuable for me to include his words in my On-Page optimization efforts?
