Keyword Traffic Estimator Tools
-
Hello,
I'm relatively new to SEO and looking to find a good tool for estimating the search traffic volume of different keywords in order to focus efforts on higher yielding terms. Right now I'm using Google's traffic estimator but it doesn't seem to have much data for long-tail keywords. Is anything else out there better or more accurate?
Thank you!

Thank you for the suggestion, but did you ever tried it by yourself. I had tried their service and the research tool didn't show me any results. Moreover I am targeting Latin America(separately each country...) and they targets only a few country..... Thanks for the response, Anyone else, any option...

Have you tried WordTracker? They offer "Search Count":
“Search Count (new tool):
For the Wordtracker data, the Search count is the number of times each keyword appears in our database of searches over the past 365 days. This constitutes just under 1% of all US search, and the data is gathered from metacrawler.com and dogpile.com.The database is updated every day, and new data is between 15 and 30 hours old when it hits the live servers. If you’re searching using the Google data, the information presented is from the Google AdWords API. It’s Exact Match data by default, and the search volumes are from the last available month (in real terms this normally means the last calendar month).
There’s currently no indication from Google about their sample size for this data, or what kind of extrapolation may be applied to the data before it’s presented. There is a limit of 1,000 searches per month on the Google data – this is to ensure we can give an even service to all of our users.”

They offer a pretty good tutorial on how to use their tool to find profitable niches: http://www.wordtracker.com/academy/finding-profitable-keywords-just-got-easier
You can get the basic "WordTracker Count" (WT) metric for free from several different tools online, SEOBook.com's Keyword Tool among them: http://tools.seobook.com/keyword-tools/seobook/

I don't know of a better source for long-tail keywords (though I sympathize, there's not a whole lot of traffic data out there for rc model warship combat related keywords!). Would love to see anyone chime in.
There have actually long been complaints about the accuracy of the Adwords keyword tool. For some interesting discussion, see http://www.davidnaylor.co.uk/google-adwords-keyword-tool-the-difference-explained.html and the previous posts he links to. A speaker on AdWords at a conference last year said that the AdWords Keyword Tool should be on a Fiction bestseller list somewhere.

With Google traffic estimator / keyword Tool you get the data from the SE itself.
Which is all the more reason not to trust it!
if you don't have data for long tail keywords that is probably because the search for those terms is very low as far as volume.
Because Google only now reports on keywords that make them money
There can't / won't be another better source for this kind of data.
Your own analytics are the only thing that will give you a truly accurate data set, however I appreciate that it's not predictive for the most part
For future reference as well, once you have top rankings for something always compare it against what you thought you would get and judge for yourself how accurate the tool is.
Anyway, yes, use the tool it's still one of the best resources you have access to.

I personally use this tool alone for this type of work.

..just my opinion but again, even if you find a source that can show you other # i think it's practically impossible to be accurate.
Hope it helps at least to enforce what you are using and put your mind to ease.

Competing Pages for Ranking Keywords?
Hey there, My client has this existing page which ranks for rentals-related keywords that are product type specific - i.e. electric wheelchair rentals, mobility scooter rentals, etc. https://mobilityequipmentforless.com/pages/rentals I recently made a rentals page for each product type to try and really target those keywords that the rentals page is ranking for. Is this a problem? Is the potential nature of the pages competing for the keywords a real issue? Any help is appreciated. Thanks! Mike

Optimizing a Webpage without keywords
Hi all, I’m really running into a challenge internally lately in that we have a lot of teams redesigning or building new pages (specificially one team) that do NOT loop our teams in. When we finally get them to work with us, to drive traffic to the pages, they disagree that there must be other ways of optimizing the pages than focusing on keywords with search volume that are relevant to the page. We usually land that they will choose a keyword or two they think a user will search for, we do keyword research and pick something close (because they don’t want to utilize a term that doesn’t make much sense, as they have written the content without involving us from the beginning, but then our search volume is declining). They keep saying there are other ways than changing the paired down content on their page and adding in keywords to the H1 headers, content on page. they mentioned semantic search at one point. For example, https://www.entrust.com/products/entrust-getaccess/ currently ranks around #10 for "single sign on solution." This keyword was on the previous page quite a few times in headers and body copy. Now it appears on the page 3 times after the redesign and is not in the h1. The team does for example want to optimize for this term, but there’s lots of pushback as they want a page with minimal content and little design. Just wondering your thoughts on this. IS this a common challenge you deal with too and any idea on answers as I've tried many with the teams? Thanks, Laura

Is this keyword cannibalization?
I have a product page and our home page ranked for the same keyword. On August 6th the product page was ranked #14 then plummeted to #60. On August 13th our home page was in the #2 spot (line just appears out of nowhere) and it is now in the #1 spot. I also see the same pages appearing for some keywords ranked in multiple positions then plummeting and one coming back up. I'm having a hard time understanding how the Keyword tool in Moz is reporting exactly. Thanks! To add to this: From Oct 8th to the 15th we jumped up from #60 to #16 for one keyword and then by Oct. 22nd are back down to #60. I have a huge spike on the 15th. Wondering if that had anything to do with any algorithm updates?

How do I find traffic for local keywords?
We're having trouble finding reliable traffic numbers for long-tail local keywords (ex. - "computer repair green bay"). We tried using Google Insights but it doesn't display long-tail keyword information, only broad keyword keywords searched for in a certain locale. We also tried using Wordtracker, but that hasn't been too reliable either. Is there a single tool that provides real traffic for local long-tail keywords?

In my keywords should they include the city name or not? Example..... plastic surgery or plastic surgery Orlando I know the search engine knows what city i am in, if i search for plastic surgery and i live in Orlando, does it pull up world wide plastic surgery links first or local plastic surgery clinics? Thanks in advance. Daniel

On-page Keyword Optimization
So I have created a page for the term "denver buick" but the next largest search term is for "buick denver." Should I create another page focusing on this keyword, or optimize one page for both? It's hard to come up with unique content since they are the basically the same term. But most importantly, if I make this new page, how do I incorporate it into the site architecture? Thanks!

How do I figure out which keyword to optimize for?
What's up guys! We run a site for tennis players and courts in the whole country - http://www.tennisround.com/. People use the site to find a tennis partner at their skill level and send each other invites to set up matches, it's also used to find local tennis courts. The question is - Which keyword(s) should we optimize the site for and how? Cheers, Alex 7h1HKYL_jJ0 sYaQH 7h1HKYL_jJ0 sYaQH 7h1HKYL_jJ0
