Inbound link not showing up.
-
Helloi ,
So i am pretty new to the MOZ community but already love it! learning so much! however ...
I have set a crawl for our website http://www.robinsonsmotorgroup.co.uk after talking with our marketing departmnet they wanted some informtion on a add placed on http://www.eastlife.co.uk/ - the add was placed on the homepage. However i cannot see the http://www.eastlife.co.uk/ coming up as a backlink.
Why is this?
Best Wishes
Simon

Hi Martin!
Two possibilities immediately come to mind.
The first is that that link simply hasn't yet appeared in our Mozscape link index. You can learn a bit more about how we index the web here, under the Frequently Asked Questions tab. The next update is projected for June 23.
The other possibility is that the link is marked "nofollow" or is otherwise uncrawlable, which is often the case with ads. If that's the case, it may never show up in OSE. That said, since an ad is a paid link, it really wouldn't be a part of your organic link profile.
Does that make sense?

Well looking at that page Simon, I see lots of scrolling adverts, but if you want some page data, head over to SEMrush and enter that URL.
Any more questions, just ask

It's hard to say Simon. That is something only Moz could answer for you.
What data is your marketing department after? If it's click-throughs, then you will be better setting it up as a click event to be tracked in Google Analytics.

Hi Andy,
Yeah i used the on-site exploer (ose)? The marketing ad is faily recent ish... just over 2 weeks agao now. When do you think it would show up?

Hi Simon,
When was the ad placed? If it was recently, it might just not be picked up by anything as yet.
What are you using to look for back-link data? If it is OSE or similar, remember that they don't have every site and page in their own database, so might just not be crawled as yet.

Internal links
It can be bad for the site if I use various items to create links to a page that represents a specific keyword? The articles are relevant and anchor text is not only done on the keyword, but also by using words near the keyword in question.

Are the following considered bad links for Link Building.
I've been doing a lot of research lately on link building & I've read a lot about having a diverse amount of links. Social links, Blog links, comment links, footer links, No follow links, Directory links as well as links with Anchor text URL match, brand match, partial brand match, non-descriptive, and with keywords. But there is a lot of talk of removing those links that look like a site that's built just for link building purposes.... but Directories are basically built for link building are they not? I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if they feel links from the following directories would be bad links. (Non-Paid) http://www.yoganza.com http://www.wkool.com http://www.wee-directory.com http://www.voicelet.com www.hotfrog.ca http://www.webdirectorieslist.com http://multiplelistingboard.com http://mozdirectory.net http://freedirectorypr.info Industry specific below: http://bestautolinks .com http://automotivedome.com http://automobilebuzz.com http://craigsautolinks.com Thanks so much for the help!

Changing Category Names in Wordpress Blog & Inbound Links
I'm working on a wordpress blog, /www.athleticfoodie.com, and I'd like to change the names of the categories so that I include keywords. If I change the current category name of "Healthy Recipes" to "Recipes for Athletes" will I lose the inbound links associated with the category and/or posts? Is there a way to prevent this?

Tracking new inbound links
I suspect there might be an easy way to do this.. but alas Icould not seem to find it with by performing some search queries in the Q and A thus figured I would just ask :).. sorry if being repetitive with this question. I have all sorts of tools to track the number of overall inbound links to my site, but is there an easy tool to check for specific new inbound links from one specific page/site..aka if I set up a link in a directory or I get a mention in an article.. what is the easiest way to search to see if this link has been picked up by google and how much link juice it might be giving to my site? Thanks for your time, John

Link Frequency
I understand that good link building is all about the quality of the link / the anchor text attached to it. But, what about frequency? Should I build until I can't build anymore? or create a plan to submit links to a certain # of sites per week/month?
