I have lots of articles on my website. Should I add myself as the Author Rank for seo purposes

Hi All,
We have lots of articles on our news page of our website. Should we add one of us as the author to gain Author Rank points so to speak ?.. Have not done anything previously with this but just wondered if we were missing a trick here
thanks
Pete

If you are the author, and want to start building a reputation as an authority on this topic, adding authorship markup can be a way to do that. You probably won't see much "SEO benefit" in terms of increased rankings, traffic or snippets in the current Google algorithm, but I think Matt has a good point in that it has the potential to be used as a signal again in the future.

Many thanks for your help .Some good points here. I will certainly look to do that

Not much of a trick as much but yes, you would be best having a dedicated author and author bio page on the site that links to all the articles by that person. I would suggest continuing to link to G+ and "claiming authorship" the way it's been done in the past, even if it's not currently displayed in the SERPs. Google likes to change their mind on features and even if it doesn't work at the moment for them, we know they want it to somehow.
Who wrote the article is important. It tells us whether your guest post is by Rand or by some 1-Post-Wonder. Obviously Google wants to value Rand's advice more. So building a trusted authority profile is important long term.

Infinite scroll SEO
I was curious about the implications of Infinite scroll homepages on SEO, and more specifically, no-indexing subpages of the homepage (ie www.homepage.com/page/2/ ). I know its often a good practice to noindex subpages of archives, but in this case, would it be a bad idea? Thanks!

Duplicate Content on our own website
Our website sells tickets for events. We also have an news articles section with information about events / artists / venues. From time to time we release a product page and a related news article on a separate page. Some of the content in the news article would be perfect for our product page. Essentially its our product page we want too rank. Would it harm our SEO if we had some of the same content on both of these pages?

Competitor rank
Hi We have been doing SEO on one of our properties for 4 years now. We had a new competitor jump in and is now ranking above us within 6 months. I verified various parameters including link backs/etc. but cannot see as to why Google would rank them above our page despite us following all ethical SEO practices/updating content etc. Do you guys have an experience/thoughts on this? How to handle lots of outbound links
I decided to create a page on my website where I would list all of my favorite resources and 3rd party tools. There are now 35 links in the main content section of the page, all with anchor text, pointing to websites in my industry. My question is this: what is the best practice here? Should I add nofollow tags to the links? Should I do something else to indicate that these links shouldn't be crawled? Frankly, I don't mind passing some link juice to these tools (in this case, and from this particular website), but I might make a different decision with a client's website. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Here is the page I'm referring to, in case anyone wants to look: http://willmarlow.com/resources-2/the-digital-marketing-toolbox/. Thanks!

Why is my key word rank so horrible?
I've been with seomoz for a couple of months now. I've been working hard trying to rank for the key word "kayak fishing" on my site yakangler.com. My onpage report for my home page is an A, my moztrust rank is higher than my competitors. I don't have the most links but I don't have the fewest either. Why am I ranking so horribly. Last I checked I wasn't on the first 50 pages for Google search. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
