On Page Optimization, F on all keywords?
-
On our website we have all F's even though we have the targeted keyword in the title, url, meta desc, h1, body and some of the img alt's. They still show zero uses of the keyword. Are we missing something here or is this some kind of bug or glitch? Any help or advice is appreciated, Thanks.

Looks like our host solved the problem. They mentioned they were blocking the rogerbot crawler. Anyone have an idea of how long we have to wait until the page grades and other info updates in our dashboard?
-
All F's.
Looks like our site devs have fixed the issue. I just ran the page grader and we received an A. I guess we wait until Moz crawls our site again to see our updated info.
-
Have you ever been able to see a non-all F report from Moz? If so, I would see what has changed since then. But yes, your developers should be able to give you the answers you are looking for.
-
I would start with contacting the developers and ask them if they have any clue about it Daniel. Failing that, without having a good root around, it's hard to say at a glance what is going on. There certainly are a lot of more general site issues.

Any ideas of where we should start to narrow down this issue?
-
We are also receiving these issues as well. Seems like its a hit or miss with the crawling.
-
I suspect this is either a permissions problem in the site structure or an issue in .htaccess, neither which we can see.
Aside from some messy code, issues on the cosole log and iframes on the page, I can't see that these would cause the problem because the pages are being cralwed and indexed.

Even the robots.txt page is 403...
-
I get a 403 for every page in the site. Is there something with your host that is blocking crawlers?
Edit-- OK , so it isn't something with your host as I tried to crawl another site on the same server, and that works without issue.

This is our robots.txt file, everything looks normal. Now that you say that, I do notice in our dashboard we have a high amount of crawl issues. At least 1 on each of our campaigns.

We receive a lot of traffic queries from our business name, our physical location name along with the make of vehicles our dealership carries, and quite a bit from year/make/mode/location. (2015 Toyota Tundra Hilton Head)

When I try that page in the on-page grader, I get "Sorry, but that URL is inaccessible. " If I put that URL into Screaming Frog, I see it is 403 (forbidden). I can see the page when I enter it into a browser, however.
It seems that something is blocking robot access to this page (although I do not see a robots exclusion)...
-
This might be an aside to the main issue, but this is a search phrase. Do your customers or webusers, actually search for this phrase?
I haven't drilled into this any more, but would be very interested to know which bit of the keyword they would be searching for.
Phrases are really hard to get a good score on in my experience

Here you go! I have also attached a screen shot of the page grader which gives me an error no matter what URL I input.
-
I don't see any reason it wouldn't be pulling the page in. Maybe check on the spelling of the keyword? If you have the right URL and the right keyword, it could be a bug, but hard to say at this point. We might be able to help more with a screenshot.

How can a page rank for keywords that it does not have on it?
I have a client that is ranking in the top 10 for several keywords on their homepage. Their site has no purposeful SEO in it, there is barely any text on the homepage at all and none of the text are the keywords it is ranking for.

Google Search Console issue: "This is how Googlebot saw the page" showing part of page being covered up
Hi everyone! Kind of a weird question here but I'll ask and see if anyone else has seen this: In Google Search Console when I do a fetch and render request for a specific site, the fetch and blocked resources all look A-OK. However, in the render, there's a large grey box (background of navigation) that covers up a significant amount of what is on the page. Attaching a screenshot. You can see the text start peeking out below (had to trim for confidentiality reasons). But behind that block of grey IS text. And text that apparently in the fetch part Googlebot does see and can crawl. My question: is this an issue? Should I be concerned about this visual look? Or no? Never have experienced an issue like that. I will say - trying to make a play at a featured snippet and can't seem to have Google display this page's information, despite it being the first result and the query showing a featured snippet of a result #4. I know that it isn't guaranteed for the #1 result but wonder if this has anything to do with why it isn't showing one. VmIqgFB.png

If I want to rank well on one keyword would it be better to optimize multiple pages on the website for the keyword or should I only optimize one page for that keyword?

To enter keyword meta tags or to not enter keyword meta tags?
I've been doing SEO for awhile, but new to SEOMoz. I'm surprised that SEOMoz does not recommend keyword meta tags. I didn't enter them for the longest time because I know Google doesn't care about them. However, I did read that other search engines DO use them. And therefore that is why you should have them. I teach my customers about SEO, and I know it would be much easier for them not to enter or worry about the keyword meta tags. However, I would love to hear opinions here. And to Bing/Yahoo put any weight into them or is it only really small search engines? Thanks! Hilary

Keyword optimization of main keyword across site.
My site is optimized for keyword "payment gateway" but it seems for each keyword only one page should be optimized as per good SEO. So if I've a page about Paypal then how should I spread the keywords? Here the main will be Paypal and site keyword will be payment gateway. It means site should have more Paypal than payment gateway. But can payment gateway be in 3rd or 4th position in density? Similarly how should I create other pages? How search engines determine the site authority based on keyword? ( let us ignore the external backlinks, context of them and anchor texts).

Missing meta descriptions on indexed pages, portfolio, tags, author and archive pages. I am using SEO all in one, any advice?
I am having a few problems that I can't seem to work out.....I am fairly new to this and can't seem to work out the following: Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙂 1. I am missing alot of meta description tags. I have installed "All in One SEO" but there seems to be no options to add meta descriptions in portfolio posts. I have also written meta descriptions for 'tags' and whilst I can see them in WP they don't seem to be activated. 2. The blog has pages indexed by WP- called Part 2 (/page/2), Part 3 (/page/3) etc. How do I solve this issue of meta descriptions and indexed pages? 3. There is also a page for myself, the author, that has multiple indexes for all the blog posts I have written, and I can't edit these archives to add meta descriptions. This also applies to the month archives for the blog. 4. Also, SEOmoz tells me that I have too many links on my blog page (also indexed) and their consequent tags. This also applies to the author pages (myself ). How do I fix this? Thanks for your help 🙂 Regards Nadia

Would it be bad to change the canonical URL to the most recent page that has duplicate content, or should we just 301 redirect to the new page?
Is it bad to change the canonical URL in the tag, meaning does it lose it's stats? If we add a new page that may have duplicate content, but we want that page to be indexed over the older pages, should we just change the canonical page or redirect from the original canonical page? Thanks so much! -Amy
