Duplicate content

My question is about duplicate content identified on my site by Moz
The pages identified as duplicates come from different areas of the site, different categories etc.
I realise the pages dont have much difference between them but would these pages be considered close enough to be duplicateshttp://www.youlesmotorcycles.com/clothing-male/reflective-clothing-non-tri

Duplicate content does not have to involve pages that are grouped together. You can even have cross-domain duplicate content.
There is not a direct penalty for duplicate content. The issue is that when Google sees pages (wherever they may be) that appear to be the same, it will choose which one to index, omitting the others.
So as Andy says, when pages are being evaluated for duplicate content, it is best to be aware of very similar pages so you can take steps to distinguish them, if you want them each to rank.

...it wont harm us for sure.
Well, being aware of it, you can make it better - that then will do things both for the user experience and Google.
Just be aware that there is a Panda refresh imminent. That will look at thin content (amongst other factors). Anything you can do to make your pages better will be good.

Hi Andy
thanks for the quick reply, tbh we have only just started to monitor the site ( using moz ) so we have no real historical data on SERPs but my feeling is that its not harming us particularly. The concern came when moz highlighted it as a high priority issue.
I was also unsure that seeming unrelated pages were grouped together but I guess thats just the way Moz does it when it scans
The product and categories are updated daily by a feed which explains the lack of content and we are addressing that now - its a good point you raise - it wont harm us for sure .

Would Google see them as duplicate? Probably, but I can't see it as something that is much of a problem. Will crawlers identify it as an 'issue'? Most certainly - and I suspect MOZ isn't the only one that would.
More often than not, these are only 'issues' that you should be aware of. It is much better to be aware of something than it being missed, so they all tend to err on the side of caution and pick up lower levels of dupe content.
That said, there is nothing wrong with adding some content to those pages. It can only do good things for you.
Have you seen any drop in the SERPs to suggest problems with those pages?

Solved Page content writing tool
A long time ago I'm pretty sure I used a tool that helped me write content for a webpage. It checked my writing as I typed and gave suggestions. I can't find the tool anymore. I hope I didn't imagine it as it was really useful..

My duplicate pages are mostly Tag pages...what are best practices?
As I'm looking through my Moz Pro reports on Pages with Duplicate Content, almost all the results are from the automatically created "tag" pages from my blog. I.e., takeflyte.com/flyte/tags/kickapps Should I worry about this? Does it have a negative impact in my search visibility? Should I be using canonical tags on these pages (and if so, pointing them where if there's multiple pages that use the same tags?) How would you recommend handling this issue?

Why is Moz Crawl Diagnostics labelling pages as duplicate when they appear to be different?
Moz Crawl Diagnostics is flagging some pages on the Doorfit website as duplicate, yet the page content is completely different and not identical. Example. Page: http://www.doorfit.co.uk/locks-security/secondary-security Duplicate: http://www.doorfit.co.uk/seals-and-sealants?cat=279 Does anybody have any suggestions as to why this might be the case? Thanks

Duplicated content issue?
Hi, Moz tools tell me that I have approx. 15xx Pages with High Priority Issues [Duplicate Page Content] going thru the details here are the majority: many products no longer exist and visitor redirected (404) to a same not found page. duplicated content with url appended with utm_source/utm_medium/utm_campaign GA tracking paras. On those page there are already canonical tags plus I've configed those parameters in Google Webmaster "URL Parameters" how much of these warning could compromise the seo proformance or provided that there have been dealt with should I just ignore these warning?

Duplicate Content Report: Duplicate URLs being crawled with "++" at the end
Hi, In our Moz report over the past few weeks I've noticed some duplicate URLs appearing like the following: Original (valid) URL: http://www.paperstone.co.uk/cat_553-616_Office-Pins-Clips-and-Bands.aspx?filter_colour=Green Duplicate URL: http://www.paperstone.co.uk/cat_553-616_Office-Pins-Clips-and-Bands.aspx?filter_colour=Green**++** These aren't appearing in Webmaster Tools, or in a Screaming Frog crawl of our site so I'm wondering if this is a bug with the Moz crawler? I realise that it could be resolved using a canonical reference, or performing a 301 from the duplicate to the canonical URL but I'd like to find out what's causing it and whether anyone else was experiencing the same problem. Thanks, George

Duplicate Page Title
I am seeing pages show up in my campaign Errors report for Duplicate Page Title. One for example states that this page: https://www.inprocorp.com/AboutInPro/AboutUs/HistoryTimeline/tabid/316/Default.aspx has a duplicate page title as this page: https://www.inprocorp.com/AboutInPro/HistoryTimeline/tabid/316/Default.aspx I have a redirect setup so that if you access page #2, you are redirected to page #1. So how do I get errors like this to drop off my report? Have I not fixed the problem sufficiently for the crawler? Thanks, John
