Two web sites with the same contact info is this a problem ?
-
I have two web sites and a physical shop. I run the web sites from the the same post address as the shop.
I am concerned that if I add the actual address to both web sites which also has the same telephone number that google might see this as suspicious activity.
The reason is I bought a competitor out and now run two sites.

Thank you for your comments.
I agree with you. Both sites do sell the same product but they do sell the product from a different angle and with different Ts and Cs, shipping etc etc.
One site promotes its local shop as well online sales and works well online because we have a shop and people can see we are experts in our field. Also we tend to use the site to bring people to the shop so we can offer a far greater service. This site also has products that can be seen but not purchased online and are only available from the shop.
The other site is mail order only and is more faceless but does appeal to some. I would argue that a 301 will loose some of these customers as they have already looked at other sites and decided t buy from here. I accept that the extra flow of traffic will result in sales but will it result in the same level of sales ?
But if I get penalized could loose all round business so your comments will be taken serious and I appreciate your input. Thank you

Some good info here ,Thank you. We took a competitors web site over and have traded it for 12 months now. We have tried our best to keep everything separate and original as regard content and both sites rank for different reasons. Both sites offer different shipping methods and terms and conditions and having two sites makes sense because we can trial different ideas also. Over the Christmas break one of the web sites servers was attacked which took the site down on and off which was worrying but the other was ok.
It all works well in a business and management sense but moving forward we can do with out being penalised so im taking every ones comments on board seriously.
A redirect is the simplest thing to do but what about the people who compared both sites and chose to buy from one because of shipping issues or terms and conditions. These customers may be forced to compare against a competitor.
Thank you Patrick Delehanty I appreciate your comments

Thanks for the answer.
The two sites do sell the same products. there is no duplicate content only duplicate images.

Already some good angles from Patrick,
I would go for the redirect as Patrick mentioned above, but there's one particular situation in which I would keep both sites, and that's if you're using another proposition for your products/services.
Let's say you sell sunscreen, and one is completely focused on sunscreen to protect the skin of your children, while the other one focuses on sunscreen to have a nice tan. Maybe a stupid example but I hope you know what I mean.
There are many situations in which people are looking for other stuff (or use other keywords/search terms) but at the end just need the same solution (in this case Sun Screen).
Pro of using both sites: you can get more targeted traffic and really focus the proposition on those people.
Con: you have 2 websites which you need to market, which can cost you more time (and money).

Hi there
If you bought out the other business, I would consider redirecting their site to yours. There's a post from Rand called Should I Rebrand and Redirect My Site? Should I Consolidate Multiple Sites/Brands? that can help you evaluate such moves. There's also a great migration guide that can help you through the process of moving the site.
This is heavily dependent on the other brand's authority and industry reputation, so you would have to consider that. You'd obviously have to evaluate such a move. You'd also have to do backlink clean up for their site and update their citations and backlinks to point to your site.
If you decide to stick with the two sites and one location, this shouldn't be an issue. According to Google:
Two or more brands at the same location
If your business location combines two or more brands, do not combine the brand names into a single page. Instead, pick one brand’s name for the page. If the brands operate independently, you may use a separate page for each brand at this location.
Not Acceptable: "KFC / Taco Bell" or "Dunkin' Donuts / Baskin Robbins"
Acceptable: "Taco Bell", "KFC", "Dunkin’ Donuts", "Baskin Robbins"
If your business sells another business brand’s product(s) or service(s), use only the name of the business, excluding the name of the brand being sold, which cannot have a page for this location. Not Acceptable: "Staples / UPS", "America’s Tire / Firestone"
Acceptable: "Staples", "America’s Tire"
However, if the business location is an authorized and fully dedicated seller of the branded product or service (sometimes known as a "franchisee"), you may use the underlying brand name when creating the page.Acceptable: "TCC Verizon Wireless Premium Retailer", "U-Haul Neighborhood Dealer" As long as you stick to the best practices above, you should be fine. If it doesn't feel right, simply don't do it, but make sure you read the resources from Google to understand what they expect.
Hope this helps! Good luck!

Hi,
There is no problem running more than 1 business from the same address. Look at all the thousands of office complexes around the World that house multiple businesses.
The only time I would be concerned would be if the same products are being offered from both, or duplication of pages.

Can I use two feeds for Products Reviews Stars
My client has two sources of reviews - productsreview.com.au and judgeme.com - both have about 30 reviews each and we would like to combine these to get to the required 50 (so that they both show on the product ratings feed). I cannot find any information on this so would be grateful for some guidance - thank you!

Why Isn't Product Schema Showing Up for my Ecom Site?
Hello, I work with two ecommerce sites and we've implemented product and review schema back in mid-May. Since implemented, I've seen some of the product prices and review stars start to show up in Google, however, now it seems to be long gone. I've tested sample URLs in Google's rich snippet testing tool and no errors come up and it looks like we have all the required components needed for each schema type. I know Google doesn't for sure show schema, but these sites are a decent size and trustworthy enough where I think they would be showing it. Does anyone have an idea on what I'm missing? Have you experienced something like this? Thanks in advance.

How to Properly Add Simple Review Schema to Your Website For a Review Pulled from a Third-Party Site
Hello, I'd like to pull the content of a review from a third-party site and put it on my client's website. My plan is to add review schema to this content but I want to make sure everything I'm doing is white hat before I implement. Can someone please tell me if the following example is okay to do? For example...
Reviews and Ratings | | Etna
I'd like to pull an entire review from Yelp and put it on my website. I would link out to the review on Yelp and then give credit to Yelp in the publisher section of the schema. If I give credit to the name of the reviewer and where the review is being pulled from (in this case Yelp) on both the actual website as well as in the schema, is this white hat and something I could implement? Also, is "simple review" markup the correct markup to use in this scenario?

Traffic drop: site move from .co.uk to .info
Hi On 1st June we moved http://www.patient.co.uk to http://patient.info. We are a trusted health website so the information is relevant to all english speaking countries. (Content on the .co.uk domain has been there for over 15 years). Prior to the move over 60% of site traffic was international, even with a .co.uk domain. The intention of the move was to broaden our international reach/traffic whilst maintaining our UK traffic. We would do this as .info is a top level domain. We followed all of the best practice rules, 301s, new and old sitemaps, change of address in webmaster tools etc. Basically all the advice here: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/6033049?hl=en&ref_topic=6033084&rd=1 We specifically chose on the new domain to leave "unlisted" under webmaster tools international targeting as the content is relevant for all countries. This is the only thing that has changed compared to the previous settings. The URL structure etc is all identical, just on a different domain. After the move we immediately saw a drop in c.60% of traffic. Over the first 5 weeks after the move we had initial gradual recovery (c.2% increase on traffic week on week) Since then it has completely flatlined with no traffic increase. So we are sat at c.50% less traffic than we did have before the move. Worryingly over the past 2 weeks, the indexed results for patient.info have dropped from c.2M to c.500k (https://www.google.co.uk/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=site%3Apatient.info) There were c.6M indexed results for patient.co.uk before the move, this has been gradually shrinking and there are now c.300k indexed results (https://www.google.co.uk/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=site:patient.co.uk) In webmaster tools crawl stats, .co.uk is still being crawled like crazy, much more than .info. It feels like we have followed the rules but something is missing and that the new site just isn't being fully indexed or as highly ranked as the old site. Anyone who has any input/advice would be much appreciated. Many thanks Ben

Schema.org problems with reviews
Hey Mozzers, Has anyone had problems getting review data to appear in the SERP? Specifically, hotel package reviews. The site I work for sells packages and products, but I'm having off cases where the data is appearing if there is only 1 review present. As soon as it gets multiple reviews the snippet data is no longer showing up. The schema.org markup is testing fine in the structured data testing tool, and when I compare it against competitor sites where the data is appearing, I can't see the difference. I am by no means a veteran SEO, but this doesn't make any sense to me. Has anyone encountered a similar problem? I could really use some help here. One of the pages I am having difficulty with: www.tripcentral.ca/vacations-packages_mexico.html }

Rich Snippets Showing in Site:Search Queries Only?
Hey Mozzers, I'm noticing that several sites of mine are triggering rich snippets for REVIEWS when I do site:search, however when I remove the site:search their results are stripped of rich snippets. Any thoughts on this/others seeing similarities?

Is it me? Or is the spam getting worse on professional social networking sites?
Just curious and obviously not a highly technical or highly SEO question, but I keep getting inundated with people who do not know me, don't know anyone I know, etc. but on the largest professional networking site that you can Link to others on, I am ready to end my membership. The vast majority are staffing, recruiting, and outsourcing firms. The settings are such that when pointing out how you know someone you are wanting to connect to, there is one that does not require you to have worked with them, gone to school with them, or done business with them, and that is "Friend." On the others if you don't meet one of the requirements above you must put that party's email address, but on "Friend" if the person wanting to contact you says they are your friend, magically they are. Do you think that for things like this, most people don't mind the spam and say "Ignore" the request, or just "accept" because having 500+ on their profile is so cool? Also, when you look at the endorsements others have given, do you care? do you believe they add validity? Do you believe most people fail to look beyond and consider who is endorsing them and whether or not that person works in a field that has been endorsed? I am really curious as to what Mozzers (the coolest group of people on the planet) think. Best,
