How Long for Google Directory and Search.com to update with Current Dmoz.org Data?
-
So I recently had a site added to dmoz.org and I'm wondering if anyone knows when Google Directory & Search.com update their site with new Dmoz.org data? They both use dmoz.org for their directory listings.
Regards,

And Google has just discontinued their directory, so the world will never know. Do let us know when you see it pop up in search.com, it'll be interesting to know how long that takes. Here's the article about Google Directory going down. http://searchengineland.com/final-nail-in-the-google-directory-coffin-86505

On the dmoz site, they state a couple of weeks to several months, but that page was last listed as updated in 2004 (http://www.dmoz.org/add.html). A high-level user in the Google Webmaster Help forums had this answer earlier in 2011:
"DMOZ produce an updated rdf file every month for downstream users to update their directories. There is no pattern to when Google does this. At times they have done it monthly; recently they went over 9-10 months before they updated. Your guess is as good as mine as to when it next happens." (http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Webmasters/thread?tid=52726d7f6beba62c&hl=en)
So, best answer that I know of, based on what I've seen on other threads here in Q&A and on the web, is it'll take a while. It'd be great if you updated this thread when you do make it in the directory so we have an idea of the current timeline.

Backlinks on Moz not on Google Search Console
Moz is showing thousands of backlinks to my site that are not showing up on Google Search Console - which is good because those links were created by some spammer in Pakistan somewhere. I haven't yet submitted a disavow report to Google of well over 10K links because the list keeps growing every day with new backlinks that have been rerouted to a 404 page. I have asked Google to clarify and they put my question on their forum for an answer, which I'm still waiting for - so I thought I'd try my luck here. My question... If Moz does not match Google Search Console, and backlinks are important to results, how valid is the ranking that Moz creates to let me know how I'm doing in this competition and if I'm improving or not. If the goal is to get Google to pay attention and I use Moz to help me figure out how to do this, how can I do that if the backlink information isn't the same - by literally over 10 000 backlinks created by some spammer doing odd things... They've included the url from their deleted profile on my site with 100s of other urls, including Moz.com and are posting them everywhere with their preferred anchor text. Moz ranking considers the thousands of spam backlinks I can't get rid of and Google ignores them or disavows them. So isn't the rankings, data, and graphs apples and bananas? How can I know what my site's strength really is and if I'm improving or not if the data doesn't match? Complete SEO Novice Shannon Peel

How to work with directories for SEO?
Hi, How many directory links do you tend to build in 1 month? And what do you look for in a directories before you submit? I could build 2 links a day from directories but the thought of 60 links being built a month from directories shouts bad news to me. I've had a look and come across a few directories with high DA/PA but at the end of the day they are just link directories, no content, lots of thin pages with lots of links pointing out. A couple of examples of good directories would help. Cheers

Google Webmaster Link drop
Checking Google Webmaster it looks like my links dropped in half? Yet I have been ranking very well the past 2-3 days? Is there any explanation for this? I have been doing Pr's, Blogs, manual link building, and concentrating on the social side of it as well, facebook, twitter, google+ can that have anything to do with better rankings? or is it still considered a minor part? Thanks!

Has Anyone Heard from Google?
After submit RR last week, we got the following from Google: "We've received a request from a site owner to reconsider how we index the following site: http://www.butterflycraze.com/ We'll review the site. If we find that it's no longer in violation of our Webmaster Guidelines, we'll reconsider our indexing of the site. Please allow several weeks for the reconsideration request. We do review all requests, but unfortunately we can't reply individually to each request." We got discouraged that Goodle said that it'd reconsider if we are no longer in violation. However, we have about 4500 unatural links created by SEO co, who has proceed with some, but, we aren't seen reduction of such links. In fact, it went up. I need advise as how to remove the following (they are the few site with bulk links): fantake.com: have their webmaster info, however, since last request, we still have 1200 links from it. blogspot.com - is there any way to remove links from such site? onlineunionmall.com: don't see any contact info on their site Some suggest us move on by building good links, but, to dilute the power of 4500 unnatural links, it would take forever.
