Workflow Question
-
Its been a long time since I've used Moz and things have changed considerably from them so I want to make sure I'm on the right track here.
I typically only work on the on-page SEO and then comparing backlinks vs competitors. I typically have someone else handle new backlinks as they seem to be almost impossible to get these days.
Typically I go with this Workflow (simplified version):
- Research - KeywordPlanner tool, keywordtool, ubersuggest, etc then trim the list and use Rank Tracker to look at actual keyword difficulty of top 10 listings or a manual check if its a small list.
- On Site Analysis - Use Website Auditor to get full view of on-site issues and then solve them by starting with broken links then HTML, then meta, etc.
- On Page Analysis - Looking at the Page Audit from Website Auditor to see areas where a client is failing to optimize the page for a specific keyword and then fix it.
- Gather Backlinks - Use SEO Spyglass to gather the links of competitors, analyze them, then check each one manually to determine if I can get the same link if its a high quality one.
With Moz, would this look something like this:
- Research - KeywordPlanner tool, keywordtool, ubersuggest, etc then trim the list and use Keyword Difficulty to look at actual keyword difficulty of top 10 listings or a manual check if its a small list.
- On Site Analysis - Use Moz Analytics Campaigns to get full view of on-site issues and then solve them by starting with broken links then HTML, then meta, etc.
- On Page Analysis - Looking at On-Page Grader to see areas where a client is failing to optimize the page for a specific keyword and then fix it.
- Gather Backlinks - Use Open Site Explorer to gather the links of competitors, analyze them, then check each one manually to determine if I can get the same link if its a high quality one.
If so then on #1 should I be doing the basic or a full each time?
Is there something I am missing on this list?

It is a good list. I would add or prioritize a page speed test, and mobile in the list. Also there is a great blog post taking a deeper dive which may be useful to review.

Another tact to consider is analyzing the keyword/page rank data from WMT's. I like to find weaknesses in reverse. ie if a page has a ranking of 2 but a CTR of 3.5% - an analysis should occur of that page to identify specific issues. Why is teh CTR so low.
Hope that assists.

Where to find answers to really dumb questions about setting up Moz campaigns...
I had a Moz account earlier this year, let it drop for a few months, then decided it really was important to have one. So I'm back. But there is still something about it that I really find frustrating. I can't seem to find any answers to what seem to be basic questions. Maybe they are too simple, maybe they are just dumb questions, but I sure would appreciate it if somebody could lead me to another source of information. Maybe somebody has written a "Moz for Dummies" book? Here's an example: I'm setting up campaigns for my websites, and I get to the Brand and Mentions section. It tries to autofill the space using my campaign name, but that's not accurate. So I go look at the Help Hub for Brands and Mentions, and it gives an example using MOZ as the brand name. But not many sites have a three-letter domain name, do they?. One of my domains is EasyDigging.com (2 words) and the other is BestDryingRack.com (3 words). So I look and look, but can't find any examples of longer domain names. So I have no idea how to enter my Brand. Should it be the whole "EasyDigging.com" or should it just be "EasyDIgging" or should it be broke up into "Easy Digging"? This is just 1 example. I find these sort of unanswered questions almost every time I try something new. Is there a collection of examples anywhere? I really hope so. Surely there are others who learn best from examples, who hate having to guess based on slim or vague instructions. Keeping my fingers crossed that somebody can lead me to the goldmine of good examples. Thanks!

Moz Analytics Beta Question
I've been invited to the Moz Analytics Beta; however, I am not seeing any data for any of my campaigns. Do I have to do something specific to enable the beta, or does it take a while for information to appear?
