Back links from sites like Wix & Wordpress.

Sorry for the newb question.
If you get a back-link from a blogger on wordpress will you get any of the 'link juice' from the platform. i.e) from the Wordpress site. I'm talking about bloggers whose URL's would be like...www.wordpress.com/bloggersitename
I imagine not, but it would be good to know for sure.
Isaac.

Excellent. Thanks for the correction.
Essentially what I thought would be the case, but good to know for sure.

Hi Isaac,
You get the link juice (if it's a followed link oc) but wordpress is working with subdoamains. The blog is not www.wordpress.com/bloggersitename - it is bloggersitename.wordpress.de (check that site:www.wordpress.com and site:wordpress.com in google).
You can check the Subdomain Autority and Trust using the moztoolbar. For Searchengines a subdomain is like a new domain. They don't have a special bonus because it is wordpress.com.

Making the most of a good back link
Hi Guys. We recently acquired a really good backlink from a charity site that has high DA. 71/100 on Open site explorer. I understand traffic is also a key component in a backlinks value, not just the DA. Is it worth spending time and energy (we don't have much as it's the lead up to Christmas) encouraging people onto the blog post to hopefully get some extra traffic through that link? And more generally, how much does traffic effect the value of link? Any insights would be greatly appreciated 🙂 Isaac.

What is the best way to remove a link that redirects to a spammy site?
I've got a new client and I'm trying to clean up their backlinks. There are several links that all redirect to this spam site http://www.expert-lender.com. All of the websites appear to be real, i.e. http://www.sammorganhomes.com/ but the actual links i.e http://www.sammorganhomes.com/wp-fav/backup/supplement/semitruckleasing.html are in a sub-directory and redirect to the spam site. I don't know if these links were from the previous SEO company or if they paid someone to create these or if these sites have been hacked. Can anyone tell me what is going on here and what should I tell these site owners?

Should you always link back?
I am asking this for two reasons: Courtesy: Is it common courtesy to reciprocate with a link back if somebody has linked to your site? SEO: Does linking back affect your rankings at all? A blog has linked to one of my clients' sites as part of a round-up of "top 100 best" within their industry. They have also sent us an email suggesting that we add a link from our site saying that we've been listed. Of course, I understand that it is in my clients' interest for us to advertise on their site that they've been listed in a Top 100 list... However, it got me thinking (as more of a general question) - does reciprocating a link ever affect it's value at all? ie. Is two-way linking ever considered part of a link exchange in the eyes of Google, and does it penalize you at all for that?

Back Links
Hi there, I have been guest posting on blogs trying to build some back-links into my website, which so far is going not too bad, however I was wondering when writing these guest posts should I limit my post to let's say 2 back-links per guest post? If 2 back-links are going to different pages on my website, does the first back-links in the guest post have more value than the 2nd back-link? Kind Regards,

Best Link Building technique using SEOMoz tools & Open Site Explorer
Hi, We've been with SEOMoz for a year or two now, but have have kept an eye out for productive link building tools to help the team. To be honest we're struggling with Open Site Explorer because, although it enables us to discover competitors links it doesn't provide much link management functionality. A simple example would be the ability for Open Site Explorer to show links to domains which my clients already have in a different colour, so that we don't waste time exploring dead ends. I'd be very interested to hear tips how other people use the SEOMoz tools to manage their link building as I suspect we may be missing a trick or two... Thanks in advance!
