Organic impression limit. Has anyone seen this before or could give some insight?
-
Hey,
I've been trying to grow my sites organic traffic but its like I've hit an organic cap on impressions.
The site is about 4 months old and this period that I hit its limit I did not do any social shares or upload any new content. But is this normal?
The site did get a Facebook like on the 26th of August.

Yes I was at the Acquisition >> organic search search dashboard first. 85% of the keywords are (not provided) and the bounce rate on those (not provided) keywords is 26%..
At the moment im trying to bring my CTR up with experimenting with my meta-data. To do that I though I would need to go to Aquisiton > Search Engine Optimization > landing pages. (i dont have a keyword ranking lower than 20). My CTR is 2 - 11% but I really want to get those up.
But when I was doing this I saw that my impressions flatlined and thought that was weird and I wondered why that could have happened. Hence why I'm here. :)Thanks for your insights though, they have been valuable.
At the moment I'm assesing the Acqusition > Search Engine Optimization > landing pages

What do you mean impressions are not the best way to determine how my organic search channel is going? Where else can I measure organic search?
Organic search TRAFFIC! Go to Google Analytics -> Acqusition -> All Traffic -> Channels, Click on Organic Search. At the same time look at bounce rate.
It doesn't matter how many people look at your website in SERPs, if they don't actually go to it.
I'm not sure why it flatlined. Maybe it's just a coincidence.
If on a new site Google almost caps the impressions and measures your CTR and other metrics to assess the relativity of the site?
Uhm. Not the most understandable question, that's for sure. Are you asking if Google uses impressions and CTRs for rankings? If so, then I'd say it's the opposite - rankings are affecting the number of impressions and CTR.

Hey Dmitrii,
What do you mean impressions are not the best way to determine how my organic search channel is going? Where else can I measure organic search?
I'm more just curious why it has flatlined? The site in question is a tester site where I have built many grey links to measure the effects.
Sorry I should have been more clear. The spike was from when I was uploading content to FB and got one like on the day of the spike and days before then.
I have seen a massive correlation towards Fbook likes and organic impressions and positions on the day in the past but what I really would like to know is;

Hello, my friend.
First of all, the impressions count is far not the best way to determine how your organic search channel is doing. Just look at the traffic from that channel.
Second, I've never heard of cap on impressions, especially that low of a cap. I'd consider it as a possibility if you had several hundred thousand of impressions, but below 500.. Also at the same time on your own graph there was a spike, which was above that "cap".So, again, I'd look at traffic, rather than impressions. Especially impressions alone.

How to Analysis which category gives me more revenue from google analytic?
Hello Experts, For Ecommerce site we do have navigation path like Main Category - Subcategory - Products. That means Men as Main Category and then subcategory Cloths, shoes, bags then product in each subcategory. After implementing enhance ecommerce https://developers.google.com/tag-manager/enhanced-ecommerce#product-clicks I am getting this report - "Product Category (Enhanced E-commerce)" in Product Performance section. Now my query is my all products are linked with sub category i.e. cloths, shoes, bags etc so in Product Category (Enhanced E-commerce) I can see Revenue, transaction related to Cloths, shoes, bags etc but how to judge performance of Main categories like Men, Women, Children etc? Because google works with this method i think - name': productObj.name, // Name or ID is required.

Can the end of a competition cause a drop in organic visitors?
Hi everyone, Over the last six months I've been running a few competitions on my largest site, but noticed a very large decrease in organic sessions just after the third one ended. For reference, the site is ~10 years old and gets a couple of million sessions per month.Organic sessions throughout last year and before the holiday periods were around 800k/month, which then increased by 50% during the holiday period alongside a competition I ran. These competitions double the pages per session and add another 1.5 minutes onto session duration. At the end of one of the competitions this year, daily organic sessions halved overnight and are now below the baseline of last year - and not improving. Some possible causes include; Google update - unlikely, because the date of the drop doesn't coincide with any increase in SERP volatility that I can find The extremely quick overnight drop in engagement (pages/session and session duration falling back to pre-comp baseline) caused Google to believe our site to be less popular and thus less deserving of rankings Visitors who've been bombarded with month-long competitions are sick of seeing them and are not searching for my site so often Email tagging - in the week before, UTM tracking parameters were added to all emails (of which there are a lot of subscribers) - as the number of Email visitors in Analytics increased, Organic did slightly decrease at the same time. I think this is unlikely, but I wonder if somehow some of our email visitors were previously being classed as Organic as well as some being Direct Incorrectly tagged as Direct - at the same time as the organic drop, Direct traffic doubled - it has since decreased back to just above the Direct baseline, however Organic has not improved I'd just be interested to know if anyone has any experience with something similar happening and, if so, what do you think the cause was and how did you rectify it? Thank you very much for your input in advance!

When I click on organic search, the biggest drop is on keyword "not provided". What does this mean?
I am trying to identify the reason for the drop in organic search.

Adwords start Organic traffic SIGNIFICANTLY drops
I hope someone can give me some insight here, or at least point me in the right direction. As of September 1 we are running Adwords. We are seeing an alarming drop in our organic traffic since then. It's almost like Adwords is cannibalizing organic. August/September Paid 116/847 Organic 648/178 We've looked at why the Organic could have dropped (penalties, site function issues, etc.) and have found nothing unusual. Can someone give me a reason why this might be happening, Why such a dramatic decrease just as adwords is started. Thanks!

Why would our client's site be receiving significant levels of organic traffic for a keyword they do not rank for?
We have a client that has received 100+ organic visits for the keyword 'airport transfers', yet the site does not rank in the top 100 search results for this keyword. We have checked that it is not untagged PPC traffic. Truly baffling. Can anybody help?

How do you add Facebook Insights to Multiple Websites?
If I have 4 top-level domain websites all for the same corporate company but with different focuses (ie/ engineering, technology etc.) and I want to add Facebook insights, should I add the same meta tag to all websites or should I create separate meta tags? If I create seperate ones, the issue is that we have one main facebook page that has multiple admins that I would like to give access to but it looks like you can only associate one website to one facebook page. So from what I can tell, if I were to create separate ones, I would have to setup fake facebook pages or fake profiles in order to get different facebook insights meta tags? I'm hoping there is a better way... or maybe I should just put the same meta tag code on all 4 websites? Thanks for your help!

Why doesnt Seomoz give daily ranking updates
Although a little obsessive I can't be the only one checking rankings on a daily basis. Indeed if such a practice was not widespread then software such as linktracker wouldnt exist. It's a shame that Seomoz has the functionality to check rank, however chooses to only do so once per week. Therefore we pay for tools such as link tracker in addition to Seomoz. Here starts a petition for daily updates!!! 😉
