Creating Sub Pages To Target Specific Keywords
-
Hi Guys,
Hope you can answer this question.
Our website is currently on the first page in position 6 for a competitive keyword, domain is 11years old and currently has a PR of 4.
At the moment there are 4 competitors above us one of which as two listings, they have managed to do this by creating a page dedicated to the keyword. E.g www.ourdomain.co.uk/key-word.html.
Do you think we would achieve a good ranking if we built the same page but with fresh content and links pointing to that page?
Cheers.

We put up a new keyword landing page with original keyword rich content last Friday. Sent out some tweets and it was indexed by google by Monday. It drove up the SERPS of our keyword by Monday, but only for our home page. Even though this landing page isn't ranking yet, the results to our homepage are nothing short of amazing. We also have it linked a few times throughout our site. We're building some quality links to it now and are putting up another landing page tomorrow with the same execution plan. BTW, we are also PR4 and in a very competitive national niche, so getting to first page has been challenging. Before the new article we were pages 2-3 now we are pages 1-2.

You're welcome.
I'd create the links once the page has been created. The links will help the new page get cached and start ranking. The only reason you wouldn't want to create links to that page is if that page presents more obstacles to converting a customer. But you should focus on removing those obstacles rather than avoiding linking to the page.

Hi Joe,
Thanks for the reply.
What would you opinion be on creating links to that page? would you wait for that page to be cached and ranking before you start creating links? OR create the links before its cached and ranking?

I think you could achieve good rankings by following that technique. Typically, you would want one page dedicated to each keyword you're targeting. This can get out of hand, but if you have good, unique content for that page/keyword, definitely create it.

What a Brand should do first for Their Blog Keyword Research or Topic Research?
Hello Moz Community, Need your help guys. What a Brand should do first for their Blog? Keyword Research or Topic Research? Like for the Brand Product page/ eCom Pages, it's quite easy > 1. Buy "Product" Online

2. Buy "Product" "Geo."
3. Product Reviews [for Guest Posting or Reviews]
4. Best "Product" Online and so But, for the blog, it's tough for searching out the keywords that will work if the SEO team or the keyword research team is not aware or don't have the detailed knowledge about the niche they are working on. Please verify: Is it a correct method that an editor should provide a "topic" to the SEO team to find relevant keywords by using a Keyword Research tool that there are enough searches for it which can provide benefits to the blog via the search engine.0 -

Here is the link: http://www.rosenhyundai.com I would love to hear your guys opinion, if this is keyword stuffing and could it get penalized by panda? Thanks for your help.

Good moz rank and trust, terrible page and domain authority
I have this happening both for page and domain. For domain the rank and trust are 5.2 and 5.51 but domain authority is only 48. My competitors with trust and rank between 5.5 and 6 have their domain authority in the 70-80 range. The same happens for home page metrics and the metrics are about the same. What can cause this authority discrepancy?

Reached No. 1 for my Keyword, what next?
Hi, After months of targeting, promoting etc... I have now reached Google.co.uk rank position 1 for my phrase "creative recreation trainers" and I stand at rank 3 on Google.com. I am happy with these results as this is the phrase I targeted and this is the brand I wanted to rank first for. But were do I go from here? I am thinking I change brand and try work some magic on that, but still continuing to add backlinks etc... to the Creative keyword phrase? What would people advise? Also can anyone do an analysis of any sort on that keyword phrase and/or the url http://www.designerboutique-online.com/all-clothing/creative-recreation/ and tell me some good points, bad points, what to do next and so on? Any help would be great. Thanks

Page quantity vs no crawl errors.
Which one is better: Have a ton of pages but accept crawl errors or; Have a lot less pages with no crawl errors. Let's say I have a product catalogue with 10 regular pages and 500 product pages (same page with content and title defined by url parameter like 'id'). It seems that even with a different product name, product description, price, color etc, I get dupplicate content crawl errors. I also know I could use a link tag with cannonical rel attribute to fix the crawl errors but I would lose indexing on 499 pages. In this case is it better SEO wise to have: 510 pages with 499 dupplicate content crawl errors or; 11 pages with 0 crawl errors?

How is this page ranking so high?
I have been using OSE, and I have come across a few sites that rank within the top 5 for VERY competitive keywords and seem to have NO inbound links to the page. Am I overlooking something? For example, Keyword: floor lamps Page: www.lampsplus.com/products/floor-lamps/

Where are the best places online to build powerful profile pages
So on SEOmoz you can create a profile page with followed links (after 200 points), just as you can do on Google Profiles. I'd like to build a strong backlink profile which features some of these highest links that my competitors will not have the time or effort to do. I'm working hard to answer questions on SEOmoz and to be a helpful part of the community, and have published some Google Knols for the Google profile building. My question is; are there any other sites that allow the same type of responsible profile building, preferably SEO related as this is my area of expertise. Thanks Aaron Solar Monster Ltd
