Meta Description
-
Hey folks,
I'm having a little problem with meta description.
If you look at that first result it looks like this:
Custom Staggered Strat | Seymour Duncan
<cite class="_Rm">www.seymourduncan.com/pickup/custom-staggered-strat</cite>Custom Staggered Strat SSL-5. Home; / Pickups ... Maserati tribute - Fender Stratocaster with seymour duncan ssl 5 ... Talk Tone @seymourduncanpickups ...Even while the meta description code is this:name="description" itemprop="description" content="The ultimate overwound Strat single coil pickup, found in the bridge position of the David Gilmour Signature Fender Stratocaster." />We are seeing the same issue here in many places:https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=seymour duncan blogUsing the All In One SEO Pack - Any suggestions as to what might be causing this or how to fix it?

Exactly, also your Meta Description should have the terms you want to rank indepently this only will affect your CTR and doesn't affect the ranking of this page:
- Try to use "SSl-5 duncan" in this item and check in a couple of days
- I also suggest to check with Google Keyword Planner or a similar tool if "SSl-5 duncan" it's a relevant keyword in searches.
- If you google the terms in your Meta Description may appear the Description you want to appear https://www.google.com/search?q=SSl-5+duncan&oq=SSl-5+duncan+&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l5.3486j0j4&sourceid=chrome&es_sm=91&ie=UTF-8#safe=off&q=The+ultimate+overwound+Strat+single+coil+pickup

It actually looks like most of the results are getting the meta description ignored in favor of content that's on the page. There's not a whole lot you can do about this except to try and write a better description that Google will favor more. I wouldn't worry too much about the meta description as long as traffic is good and you're ranking well for your target keywords. The description is more to influence CTR and does not have an effect on ranking (directly).
Do your best to write a compelling description about the page to help users understand what they should expect to see. Rewriting to explain why someone would want to visit the page (buy the product, learn more about the product, see the product used by famous musicians, etc...) could help it show up in the SERPs.

I have an eCommerce Site with in some cases, 100s of versions of the same product. How do I avoid "duplicate content" without writing literally 100s of unique product descriptions for the exact same product?
For instance, one item where the only difference is the Sports Team Logo is different, etc... or It comes in a variety of color Variants. I'm using Shopify.

Should I include a meta description for my tags on posts
Hi Our crawl report detects that we have not put in a meta description for any of the tags we have used on our blog. (total tag words we have used is around 70). We have however, put a full description of each of our categories, do we really need to put a description for each of the tags we use? Will this really help us with SEO? Also can tags on posts be the same as the keyword your trying to rank the post/article about? For further information We are using Yoast.
