301 or Keep 2 Chocolate Best Sellers SEO?
-
Hi All,
So we have two best selling organic chocolates that are very similar.
http://www.santabarbarachocolate.com/bulk-organic-dark-chocolate-72-without-soy-lecithin/
and
http://www.santabarbarachocolate.com/bulk-organic-dark-chocolate-72-without-soy-lecithin/
Because we are a small company it would be ideal to offer only one of these chocolates due to the cost of making it from the raw cacao.
This is the question: From a SEO page rank perspective, do we get better rank by 301 redirecting one chocolate to the other thereby generating more traffic through traffic consolidation to one chocolate. Or do we get better SEO rank by having two chocolates on the site that both get clicks with different content? Basically it is a question of divided forces.
Thanks for your help,
Jason

This is little bit answer and big offtopic. Mods - please keep mine opinion.
You shouldn't stop making awesome chocolate products nor 301 one to other. Because you have other problem...
Other problem is called "hidden text". When i looking source code of your page i can see lot of "display: none" and "display:none" and few huge tab. Now from Google point of view you hiding lot of content. Situation is even worse because bot devalue this hidden text:
https://www.seroundtable.com/google-hidden-tab-content-seo-19489.html
https://www.seroundtable.com/google-index-click-to-expand-19449.htmlhttps://www.seroundtable.com/google-content-hidden-dynamic-20653.html
https://www.seroundtable.com/google-display-none-20626.html <- this one is more important
Please note this from last link: "Hiding the content with a display:none might backfire on you. We are giving hidden content way less weight in ranking."So what's going on your page with almost 20 matches of both "display:none" and "display: none"? Yup - text is devalued. Reviews, warranty, etc. You may not believe me but try to find this text from warranty "Belgian Dark Chocolate Couverture is the best tasting gourmet Belgian chocolate available. Perfect for all chocolate and candy making or eat it straight from the bag and enjoy the real flavor or the highest quality Belgian chocolate available." Just open Google and try to find it.
I think that you should use other theme for your shop and this time you should see inside for hidden content. Let this time content be visible even if page become little bit longer.
PS: I also have few years "hidden" content in sites due theme selection.

Hi and thanks for looking. Due to internal constraints we are looking at a .net cms and ecommerce solution, I would have preferred a magento and wordpress solution but we have to work within our constraints. Can anyone share their experiences or thoughts on what cms they would use with seo in mind and what eCommerce platform, again with seo in mind. thanks again for looking and all replies gratefully received.

Static pages with dynamic content: Good for SEO?
I wanted to know ones thoughts on reducing duplication by creating a static page with a few dynamic fields. Has anyone done this? If 75% of a page is static and 25% is dynamic, is that a good ratio? It's an idea I am thinking about to combat duplication issues affecting ecommerce pages. Some ecommerce sites generate a new page for a small change like size, but the content is the same. What if you could create a single static page and depending on the size chosen, only those fields connected to the size are dynamic? Everything else remains the same. For caching purposes, you always submit a cached page with default values. Wouldn't this work? Isn't this a solution for duplicate ecommerce pages? It would also help in ranking, rather than multiple external links across duplicate ecommerce pages, it would just be to a single page.

Best Way To Pass Rank To Follow Up Article?
What is the best way to pass rank to a follow-up article? For example, we write an article "Product A Rumors" that ends up ranking #1. When Product A is released, we write an article called "Product A Review". What is the best way to pass rank from the first pre-release article to the second post-release article? We don't want to do a simple 301 redirect as we want readers to be able to go back to the first article to see the progression of the Product A life-cycle. Also, should we go back and edit the old article to add a link to the new? Should we add a link in the new article to the old? Thanks in advance 😉

Are tags important for SEO?
I just installed a plugin called SEO content control and it is telling me I need to write descriptions for my tags. I haven't been using tags although I did create a list of them. I don't have an endless amount of time on my hands so is this a worthwhile task?

Assigning Locations to Wordpress from SEO Perspective?
I am looking for a way to split up and assign my 400 Wordpress posts to my business' four separate office locations. The four offices are in four separate areas with distinct city names. What way makes the most sense from an SEO perspective - assigning the city names as categories? adding the location as a tag, or some other way that I haven't considered? Currently, all posts are categorized by content and have no mention of location. Happy to answer any questions you might need in order to answer. Thank you!

SEO- SLIDER
Are sliders bad for SEO. I have a slider that uses HTML elements. The text in the slider is in the source code; however, the words are surround by unreadable code. Give me an example of good SEO friendly sliders for wordpress. Who uses what and why?

Do you ever forget the SEO basics?
We all get a little sloppy at times. Just yesterday , someone pointed out that I accidentally blocked the robots from one of our primary pages, because it was being included in a wildcard match on one of the disallow commands in robots.txt. Sometimes the mistakes are very basic. The one below is just too funny. I thought I would share the love. Search Google for "MD care" MD Care Inc. - Welcome<a id="LXPLSS_979677678U1"></a> <cite>www.mdcarehealthplan.com/</cite> This is an SEO description that will be seen by the search engines and used in the search results. The meta keywords tag is even funnier: <meta name="keywords" content="spam, the, keywords, here, like, this, and this, good" />
