Do we expect Google+ to continue being an important ranking signal after its recent changes?
-
I've noticed that Google Plus seems to have a larger influence on ranking than other social networks, especially for one of our competitors. We haven't started using Google Plus, and I'm wondering if, from an SEO standpoint, it's worth putting energy into after last month's changes.
TL;DR: After last month's changes, is Google Plus still an important ranking signal?
-
Google uses Google Plus to confirm contact information and to find recent posts. While you may not get traffic and engagement directly from Google Plus. It will help with SEO and rankings. Its something you may not benefit a whole lot from, but it would hurt to not have it.

Thanks for the link to the correlation article. I've seen the same effect - we have a competitor that seems to be beating everyone in the industry at SEO, but with half the domain authority of some other competitors - but he has a lot of +1s.
I'll take a look at how much action there is on G+ in our industry. We're having decent success on Facebook, and I think that's the main activity hub, but the followed links & some activity of G+ may well be worth any time spent on Google Plus.
We still don't know if any of this is changing, though, beyond your, (correct, I believe), observation that Google Plus is being detangled from the rest of Google's products.

I would say Google+ is more about correlation rather than a ranking signal. However, I’m noticing that Google is separating the close ties Google+ has with its products more and more. For example, they recently announced they will not include Google+ follower counts in search ads as of December 10, 2015.
I recommend understanding where your customers “hang out” and focusing on those social platforms instead.

How can I change the Facebook Page shown in the SERP
Hi everyone, got a quick question in regard to our Facebook page and its appearance on the Google SERP. We have individual Facebook pages for every country and language. Unfornately the UK site is ranking in the German SERP rather then our Germany Facebook Site. The UK site is way older and has much more likes which most likely explains why this page is (still) outranking our, fairly new site (couple of months). Is there a way, to push my German Facebook Site in front of the UK Site in Germany? Any advice or tipp is much appreciated. Thanks

I understand Authorship is Dead, but here's a question on the Google+ Profile
I guest write for some blogs, as well as several blogs I manage myself. What is the correct usage of the "Contributor to" field and the "Links" field? Contributor to: The overall blog itself and; Links: To individual blog posts themselves? Or the reverse? Thank you!

If I check in at my sushi joint, am I going to affect their rankings, and end up in a crowded sushi dive?
In answering a question, I got to pondering something: When we check in with an app like a Yelp, does that affect the rankings? In other words, is more and more check in activity (assume without leaving any review first) going to have an effect like more and more click throughs? Has anyone done any type of study or measure of this? Thoughts? Ideas? Interesting, Thanks, Robert

Social Media Plugins advice - Google+ Pages - what is best for SEO?
I'm seeking some social media plugin advice, in relation to SEO. This may not be possible to answer yet, or ever? But it could be worth a discussion. As far as i can see, there are two main forms of plugins (taking facebook as an example): 1 that directly connects a user to your brand page on said platform (eg like us on facebook) 1 that allows a user to 'like', 'share', 'recommend' the page that you are on as a sign of respect and/or sharing content For a home page, I am confused as to which one to use, without filling out the whole page with plugins. One objective is to increase fan numbers, the other is to increase content sharing, and possibly SEO? I've noticed that Google has been returning some personalised results based on mine, or my google+ connections +1's. So to the question... Do you think having more fans on the new Google Pages for business accounts will improve SEO to the same, if not higher weighting than a +1 does? and therefore is it more important to get more brand page followers, or +1's of the homepage?

Does shared content affect rankings?
I've noticed that when logged into Google, content shared by people within my social graph is being identified by a "(name of person) shared this". And, content shared by people not within my social graph (but people who have a Google+ account) is being identified with their picture. My questions are: Is this "(name of person) shared this" content showing on first page of results because they're in my social graph. Or would this content have been on 1st page regardless of whether it had been shared? Why is google identifying who is sharing content when they're not in my social graph? Thank you!

What's more important? Facebook fans, or likes?
Until now, I've been focusing on getting Facebook likes for my site, and amassed quite a lot. However it felt like I was missing an opportunity by not connecting directly to my audience. So I created a Facebook page which my site visitors can like. But this means having to promote two different things: a "facebook like" for my site, and a "facebook like" for my facebook page, which seems silly. So, I was wondering if: there is a way to combine the likes of my site to the likes of my FB page? Or a way for a visitor to like both through a single click? what's more important to Google: FB-likes to your site, or to your FB-page? Thank you!

What are the issues with changing my domain?
I have a self-hosted wordpress blog that I have been authoring for 5 years. It resides at www.ready2spark.com. I have built a static wordpress website (fyi - it's a different wp theme from the blog) to promote my company, named READY2SPARK. The site location is temporarily http://www.ready2spark.com/staticwebsite. Since this will be my main company website, it makes the most sense to have the static site reside at www.ready2spark.com and the blog reside at www.ready2spark.com/blog (or, at least, I think). I'm hoping some of you experts can let me know what the issues with changing my domain would be or provide suggestions on what the optimal architecture should be.

Google does not index individual facebook posts often?
It looks like google (regular organic) does not index individual posts from facebook pages often, more likely the wall of the page itself or separate pages. Can someone confirm this?
