Redirect_to in URLs?
-
I've never seen this before. I'm assuming that it's not SEO friendly and that these should be 301s or 302s instead?

Thanks all for your great suggestions!

As Antonio says, you do not want to affect your ability to have people login. His answer is well thought out.

Antonio,
Really nice answer here.

Don't redirect them, if you redirect those URLS, people will not be allowed to log in. When you are in a page and want to login, the URL has that variable, so when you logged succesfully you can go back to the page you were. E.g. Log from here http://ksa-beta.motory.com/en/dealers-search/ and you will get this http://ksa-beta.motory.com/en/login/?redirect_to=http://ksa-beta.motory.com/en/dealers-search
Instead redirect them and in order to save crawl budget, I suggest to:
- Add a nofollow for that <a href="">in the template</a>
<a href="">* Set up in Google Search Console that variable don't affect page content* Any other method the community can suggest</a>
- Add a nofollow for that <a href="">in the template</a>

URL has caps, but canonical does not. Now what?
Hi, Just started working with a site that has the occasional url with a capital, but then the url in the canonical as lower case. Neither, when entered in a browser, resolves to the other. It's a Shopify site. What do you think I should do?

Mobile update: referrer in alternate URL
Hi there, A little while ago I posted a question about the upcoming mobile update. I am convinced about the fact that I must work on a solution before the update rolls out since a substancial part of our traffic has come from mobile devices. My current issue: our webshop host is not willing to cooperate with the best possible solution our mobile webshop partner proposes. This was the plan: This is the only possible solution now: The element 'request.url' will contain the full desktop URL which 301 redirects to the mobile URL. My question is: will google have problems with the 301 redirect which refers to the right mobile URL? Thanks in advance.

Google Search Results Display URL
Our urls show as www.domain.com/getproduct.aspx?productid=48376 (url #1) in Google search results. When you click on the link and go to the site the URL is www.domain.com/product-name.aspx (url #2) I checked in Google Webmaster Tools (Fetch as Google) and there is a 302 redirect from url #1 to url #2. It also shows a Set-Cookie value, ASP.NET_SessionID= If we make it a 301 redirect instead, will the url displayed in Google search results be the url #2? We need to get rid of the Set-Cookie for crawlers correct?

Does "?" in my URL have a negative effect?
I am having a difficult time finding specific information about the effect, if any, having a ? within the URL structure. We have the descriptive keyword phrase followed by the ? location id as in this example: http://www.adventuresonly.com/adventure-locations/things-to-do-in-arizona?stateid=124 Any feedback on effect and a corrective process to improve if necessary would be appreciated!

Www or not www base url
Here is the situation. Developer custom coded a magento commerce shop for a seo client and is having problems adding www to the URL without breaking the site. They wont be able to get this completed until a couple months down the road. We are starting monthly SEO this June. Most directories and websites link to the www version of a site not the non www. What should I expect since we are ranking for the non-www and linking to the www version. In web master tools i'm telling google to display the URL as www.

Should I repeat keywords at each folder level of my urls?
Hey Guys, I'm wondering which URL is preferable when targeting the keyword phrase "ski goggles" a) http://www.evo.com/shop/ski/ski-goggles.aspx or b) http://www.evo.com/shop/ski/goggles.aspx URL a includes the keyword phrase exactly with a dash but also repeats the word "ski" and feels redundant. Any research/ testing to support either case? Thanks a bunch. Will

Duplicate Content from Google URL Builder
Hello to the SEOmoz community! I am new to SEOmoz, SEO implementation, and the community and recently set up a campaign on one of the sites I managed. I was surprised at the amount of duplicate content that showed up as errors and when I took a look in deeper, the majority of errors were caused by pages on the root domain I put through Google Analytics URL Builder. After this, I went into webmaster tools and changed the parameter handling to ignore all of the tags the URL Builder adds to the end of the domain. SEOmoz recently recrawled my site and the errors being caused by the URL Builder are still being shown as duplicates. Any suggestions on what to do?

Google Local Results and URL Titles
After searching for (city name) (business type) a number of my competitor's sites come up with the title of their web page as the results (including geographic descriptors). However, my site is listed by name and does not reflect our URL title. How is this possible (did someone manually change the title of our listing?) and how can I change this back so that the title includes a geo descriptor? Do I simply edit the listing under google places or will this have a negative effect on our rankings?
