Search engine submission - Urgent

Is it necessary to submit a new site to search engines?
I have a brand-new site I purchased a few days ago which I didn't think to check until after I purchased it, But it has not been indexed by Google!
The domain was registered three months ago, and probably the website wouldn't have been designed until after that.
But I'm still left puzzling why the site is not indexed by Google.Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

I would agree with Dirk. There is not much to rank for on your website, all of your content comes from amazon.
Still, another questions is why is it not indexed yet. The website is built on Wordpress and if you haven't touched your robots.txt then it should not block crawlers. As I can see you are not ranking for your exact match domain name (i.e. site: yourdomain.com) which can be sign of a manual penalty.
What I would suggest is to add some content, do some internal optimisation (download seo Yoast plugin), add Titles, H1, optimise images and so forth. Then, create a separate search console account and submit your sitemap and see if it works.
-
A penalty is not irreversible - but with the effort you will have to put into it you might as well start on a new domain from scratch. This is what I personally would do. It's not that the domain is so powerful by itself - an exact match domain might give you a small advantage but on the other hand you will have to put much more effort to re-build the site reputation.
To be 100% sure - check the search console of the site - using a "new" Google account not related to your current one; if you want to be extremely careful - do it on some external network - not on your own network.

I know it's stupid but I didn't think to check for a Google penalty before I brought it, normally I wouldn't even look at a domain that wasn't indexed.
I brought it with the idea of beefing it up a lot, I realised I would have to do all the SEO stuff, but if it's had a penalty it is debatable whether I even bother with it.
Is it worthwhile putting a bit into it and seeing whether indexes or not?
It's not the end of the world I got it for a snip, it may be better to curb the losses and put it into a site that is clean. -
The site did exist before - check https://web.archive.org/web/20141117163048/http://www.(your domain)/ - so quite possible it had a manual action (if the type of content was as low quality then as it is now) erasing it from the index.
-
It's a very thin affiliate site with 0% original content (all content = Amazon). On top of that - its quite heavy to load, has no optimisation whatsoever (H1/Meta/..etc); several elements on page that return 404 status, low pagespeed scores and as it is new, no incoming links.
You could check the logs - it's quite possible that Googlebot hasn't discovered the site yet. If it has visited, it probably considered the site too low quality to index. If not visited, you could register in Search Console and do a "fetch like Google".
It will probably put some pages in the index - but there is no chance that with the current content this site is going to rank.Dirk

The site is great-headphones [dot] c o m
It is an Amazon affiliate store, nothing in the way of blog yet just products.
I haven't added it to my google search console account yet, just in case it is dodgy, I don't want Google penalising the rest of my sites as well.

what's patients name? or is it a secret?
As for robots.txt - typically not having any wouldn't prevent bots from accessing a site, but who knows.
P.S. please, answer all questions asked - content? seo? any messages in google search console (previously known as Google Webmaster Tools)?
-
It is not indexed at all. I have tried the info: and site: parameter
As far as I can tell it is accessible. But have just found there is no robots.txt! Dose is mater?
-
Hi there.
Who's the patient?
Is it actually not indexed or not ranking on first page? Is there any content? Any SEO done? what about accessibility by bots? have you checked robots.txt? Any meta robots tags?

Urgent help needed for site move with major ranking loss
URGENT HELP/ADVICE NEEDED I am so stressed and worried about my website domain change. I desperately need advice as soon as possible. I will try my best to keep this as brief as possible. I have owned and operated my punk clothing business online at the URL toofastonline.com for 15 years now. And for a long long time we ranked #1 for punk clothing on Google & life was good. However, thanks to the arrival of several cheap marketplaces and other unanticipated changes our ranking dropped considerably. The last few years have been extremely hard on us, to say the least, we came really close to losing the business altogether. But finally after lots of hard work & long hours, things started to improve. Ranking went back up, and we were busy again. I had been toying with the idea of buying the domain TooFast.com for about 10 years, but I never had the money to do it until this now, so I made the leap and as of Jan 9, toofastonline.com became toofast.com. Unfortunately, I now know that I set up the domain change hastily, without doing any of the pre-work Google suggests to do. I didn’t know it then but I did it wrong. And our site which wasranking #7 for punk clothing on Jan. 8th is now number 51 and today is only Jan 24th! I AM PANICKING. I have looked for help, posting jobs on Shopify Experts site several times now, opening accounts with MOZ and SEM Rush, spending countless hours on the phone with GoDaddy, Shopify and even long chats with Google. I have spent all day everyday for the past two weeks trying fix everything to no avail. No one can start on my site issues fast enough. And I have been given so much wrong information that I feel like I have done irreparable damage. I was (am) not qualified to make this kind of a site change alone. Too much was done too fast and without any real working knowledge Google SEO. My brother was the SEO guy and since he left the business I have just been struggling along with it, just trying to keep my head above water. So now for the big question: Should I temporarily change my Shopify stores domain back to toofastonline.com? This way I couldstart at the beginning, fix all the 404 redirects, fix the 301 redirects, clean up code, get the site in top working condition, and then, as Google suggests in theirGoogle Search Console Change of Address Toolstart to do the change of address in small sections, I can not afford to make any more reckless decisions. I have started and stopped, updated, fixed, changed and tried to fix again too many times now. I dont want Google to think I am trying something shady.. I’m not, I just don’t know what I’m doing, and I need help. Here is as much info as I can think of, I am more than willing to pay for help or do the work myself, as long as what I am doing is the right thing. Any and all help/advice/offers are welcome! How long after https migration that google shows in search console new sitemap being indexed?
We migrated 4 days ago to https and followed best practices..
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | lcourse
In search console now still 80% of our sitemaps appear as "pending" and among those sitemaps that were processed only less than 1% of submitted pages appear as indexed? Is this normal ?
How long does it take for google to index pages from sitemap?
Before https migration nearly all our pages were indexed and I see in the crawler stats that google has crawled a number of pages each day after migration that corresponds to number of submitted pages in sitemap. Sitemap and crawler stats show no errors.0 -

Organic search traffic dropped 40% - what am I missing?
Have a client (ecommerce site with 1,000+ pages) who recently switched to OpenCart from another cart. Their organic search traffic (from Google, Yahoo, and Bing) dropped roughly 40%. Unfortunately, we weren't involved with the site before, so we can only rely on the wayback machine to compare previous to present. I've checked all the common causes of traffic drops and so far I mostly know what's probably not causing the issue. Any suggestions? Some URLs are the same and the rest 301 redirect (note that many of the pages were 404 until a couple weeks after the switch when the client implemented more 301 redirects) They've got an XML sitemap and are well-indexed. The traffic drops hit pretty much across the site, they are not specific to a few pages. The traffic drops are not specific to any one country or language. Traffic drops hit mobile, tablet, and desktop I've done a full site crawl, only 1 404 page and no other significant issues. Site crawl didn't find any pages blocked by nofollow, no index, robots.txt Canonical URLs are good Site has about 20K pages indexed They have some bad backlinks, but I don't think it's backlink-related because Google, Yahoo, and Bing have all dropped. I'm comparing on-page optimization for select pages before and after, and not finding a lot of differences. It does appear that they implemented Schema.org when they launched the new site. Page load speed is good I feel there must be a pretty basic issue here for Google, Yahoo, and Bing to all drop off, but so far I haven't found it. What am I missing?

Search instead of 404 - Vtex Brazil
Vtex in one of the best e-commerce in Brazil and I´ve just find out they transform any 404 page in a search page. Polishop ( http://www.polishop.com.br/ ) is one of their clientes and if you try to search any page it will never return a 404 error because convert any url in a search. Example: http://www.polishop.com.br/12345678 - 200: HTTP/1.1 200 OK ( it does not return a 404 code) I´m a little bit confused if this good or not... what do you think moz experts?

Can Location Information Decrease National Search Volume ?
Has anyone observed the effect on G organic traffic when a site which has little or no location information suddenly registers with the reputable "local" directories? I am especially curious about results observations based upon G's behavior during the past several months. It might be a hosting problem (the host is performing some non-routine mantenance) or possibly even a HUGE change in G's algo but I've observed a huge drop in my traffic after claiming a couple of the local listings earlier this week. Until then, I doubt G had associated my site with my city. A couple of other explanations are possible but the timing leaves me to doubt it's a coincidence. T.I.A.

Alexa site title shows as "302 Found" on search result pages
If you search for the site "ixl.com" in Alexa, for some reason, it's showing the site as "302 Found" instead of showing the website name, IXL. If you drill into that, it shows the site as ixl.com, but underneath that, it says "302 Found" again. Every other site I search for seems to show the site's name properly. I have no idea where it's getting this "302 Found" from. Does anyone know how to fix this? Here's a link directly to the search results page: http://www.alexa.com/search?q=ixl.com
