Confusion on keyword cannibalization ?
-
Hi
I know that targeting more than one keyword per page in a website leads to keyword cannibalization.
But for example, if I am into a "CRM" business, I write blogs on CRM every day with various topics like:
1. How can a CRM help your small business?
2. Steps to follow in buying a CRM.
3. How to does CRM help in your customer relationship.
It means that I am concentrating the keyword "CRM" in multiple blogs.
What should I do in this case?
Thanks in advance.

You're welcome, have an awesome day!

Thanks a lot Logan....I am absolutely clear with my doubt.
Thanks again.

Those blogs posts are going to be your long-tail keywords, so the more specific you get with the keywords that you target, the better. Put yourself in the mindset of someone who would benefit from that content, then try to think about what you would search for to get to that content. For example, for your post "Steps to follow in buying a CRM", some qualified queries might be "things to consider when choosing a CRM", "how to choose a CRM", "what do I need to know before buying a CRM".

Hi Logan,
Thanks a lot for your response. I just have a small doubt regarding this.
If I am using a yoast plugin for my wordpress blog, which 3 different keywords should I use as the "focused keyword" for all the above mentioned topics?
Thanks

Hi,
Your statement "I know that targeting more than one keyword per page in a website leads to keyword cannibalization" is close, but not quite true. Keyword cannibalization happen you talk about the same topic or keyword set across multiple pages, search engines aren't sure which to rank higher, so they usually opt for none of them.
Content should be centered around topics these days, not keywords. Based on the sample blog topics you shared, it seems like you're doing that quite well. You're still talking about CRMs but in different ways, so I think your strategy is good.

How many images should be optimised for 1 keyword?
Hello Moz, I have a product category page and I have optimised 4 images around 1 keyword - is this bad practice? I worry Google will penalise me. Should I instead optimise them for other keywords? Cheers

What are your thoughts on keyword density?
Useless metric? Good as an indicator, but not of any real value? Best way to judge how well content is optimised? I've heard all kinds of opinions, what's yours? Thanks!

Problem with Occurrences of Keyword
At "On-Page Report " i have noticed that the only important problem my site has is the "Occurrences of Keyword " it says that i have ONLY 14.156 keyword repeat. My page ofcourse does not have so many repeats of same keyword. In fact this keyword is shown 10 times as i saw at source code of this page i tested. This report is for one page or for all pages of domain ? My keyword was two words keyword if that matters but there is no way that keywords to be repeated so many times.

Keyword optimization of main keyword across site.
My site is optimized for keyword "payment gateway" but it seems for each keyword only one page should be optimized as per good SEO. So if I've a page about Paypal then how should I spread the keywords? Here the main will be Paypal and site keyword will be payment gateway. It means site should have more Paypal than payment gateway. But can payment gateway be in 3rd or 4th position in density? Similarly how should I create other pages? How search engines determine the site authority based on keyword? ( let us ignore the external backlinks, context of them and anchor texts).

I am optimizing my webpages according to suggestions from the On Page Report Card. Should I have more than one keyword for a page?
I am optimizing my webpages according to suggestions from the On Page Report Card. Should I have more than one keyword for a page or should I make separate pages for each keyword even when they are similar? Will Google penalize me for making similar pages? Imagine selling, bargain milk chocolate peanut clusters. Keywords examples could be: Bargain chocolate Bargain milk chocolate Bargain milk chocolate peanut clusters Bargain chocolate peanut clusters Chocolate peanut cluster bargains Milk chocolate peanut cluster bargains Etc. Will one page called http://mycompany/bargainmilkchocolatepeanutclusters.com be OK or should I have one called http://mycompany/bargainmilkchocolate.com and one called http://mycompany/bargainmilkchocolatepeanutclusters.com and one called http://mycompany/chocolatepeanutclusterbargains.com , etc.? Thanks for your advice.

Repeat Keyword Phrase or Use Variations
Is it better to repeat a keyword phrase on a page's text that you have already used once, or to use a different variation of the keyword phrase?
