Instructables site - follow and nofollow
-
Hi,
I haven't been able to find a clear answer to this issue yet, so I'm posting here for help.
I have just created a profile on the site Instructables - http://www.instructables.com/ as well as an article.
The issue is that I could find most of the published articles there have follow links in them - e.g links under materials: http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Make-a-Reclaimed-Industrial-Coffee-Table/ - however mine is attributed nofollow links. I simply don't know why this is or if there is a way around it to get the links followed.
This question only relates to the links in the articles, not the profile links - which are followed.
Anybody knows?
Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,
It totally depends on the website to give a follow or no-follow link. But yes you can convince them for do follow the link by justifying how your article can help their website too. If you will be able to do so, they might provide you do-follow link.
All the best,
Varun

Hi Alex!
I'd believe that they have some sort of rule just like Moz. The NoFollow tag will be gone after some ranking you should overcome.
Just on a quick look i've found 3 articles that have NoFollow external links
http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Make-a-StormTrooper-Helmet/step2/Finding-a-Template/
http://www.instructables.com/id/Compliant-Prosthetic-Hand-With-Sensorimotor-Contro/
http://www.instructables.com/id/Bicycle-Picknick-Box/step8/Attatchment-to-the-bicycle/Also, many others with follow links.
Keep in mind that sites that get lot of articles, know about SEO, and dont want to be used and get their authority stolen.Hope it helps.

Hi Alex!
Honestly, this sounds like something you'd need to contact Instructables about. Unless someone here has pretty deep knowledge of their services, they're probably the only ones who'd know for sure.

Linking to the same sites from more than one of my sites, is this bad?
If I work for a company that has more than one website within the same industry and we have separate websites within that industry. An example would be: CarLoans.com HomeLoans.com & PersonalLoans.com The only difference from this example is that we are a B2B Company. My question is: is it bad to acquire links from the same external websites for multiple websites that we own and want to rank for? If I establish a relationship with Forbes or some other website and I can get links to several of our sites, will it ever be bad to link to all of our websites from this one website. I am asking not just for high domain authority website like Forbes, but also for websites that may have a DA in the 30's 40's and 50's as well. Thank you

No Follow Link Advice for a Newbie
Hi Moz-ers! 2 part question I would love suggestions to: I'm fairly new to the SEO world and working towards targets of 4 'follow' and 6 'no_follow' links a month, in house. 1. Apart from Wikipedia and bloggers that issue 'no_follow' links, what are good 'no_follow' slink generation ideas? 2. I've read lots about the benefit of no_follow and follow links and the ongoing debate, how does this target/KPI stack up against others out there? And is it a well structured target? I know its a big question, but I'd love some feedback. Big Thanks!

How to Handle Press Releases for Multi National Sites
Hello Moz Community, We are currently in the process of launching new ccTLDs. We need to know how to handle this from a press release perspective. Scenario: If we have a global press release, should we release a version for each one of our TLD's within the wires? Or how should this be handled. Thank you, Valerie MacDonald

Any good content sites with good quality links?
I have some content which is still relevant and interesting but not really suitable for my current websites. I have been thinking of using this on an article site to generate some links back to my sites, but I am wary about this due to Google's targeting of content sites. I currently have good PR's on Squidoo and Hubpages which link back and work quite well. Can anyone suggest any others or any ideas how to use this content for SEO purposes? Is using it for article submissions to get links short sited?
