Is there a way to no index no follow sections on a page to avoid duplicative text issues?
-
I'm working on an event-related site where every blog post starts with an introductory header about the event and then a Call To Action at the end which gives info about the Registration Deadline. I'm wondering if there is something we can and should do to avoid duplicative content penalties. Should these go in a widget or is there some way to No Index, No Follow a section of text? Thanks!

Hi Karl,
Google doesn't mind a bit of content that is the same page on page - they have said so in the page. If the page requires that there is a bit of the content that is duplicated, as long as it serves a purpose, you will be absolutely fine.
Look at the pages and see if what is there would be considered beneficial to the page.
The issues for duplication tend to arise when you are copying huge swathes of text from one page to another, plagiarising others work or even spinning.
By what you have said, it sounds like you will be absolutely fine, but feel free to post an example here or PM it to me if you wish and I will happily take a look

This might help. https://www.hochmanconsultants.com/how-to-block-part-of-a-page-from-being-indexed-by-google-or-other-search-engines/ let me know if it doesn't work.

Hi,
Short answer: No you can’t hide a selection on a page from Google. If Google reaches your page it will crawl all of it. I personally wouldn’t worry that much about duplicate content here if it is only a small part of the page. One solution could be to make an image for the returning content if this is possible. This way Google doesn’t crawl the text, but make sure you make the content visual. It is not userfriendly to put a lot of text in images.

What to do if lots of backend pages have been indexed by Google erroneously?
Hi Guys Our developer forgot to add a no index no follow tag on the pages he created in the back-end. So we have now ended up with lots of back end pages being indexed in google. So my question is, since many of those are now indexed in Google, so is it enough to just place a no index no follow on those or should we do a 301 redirect on all those to the most appropriate page? If a no index no follow is enough, that would create lots of 404 errors so could those affect the site negatively? Cheers Martin

Duplicate currency page variations?
Hi guys, I have duplicate category pages across a ecommerce site. http://s30.postimg.org/dk9avaij5/screenshot_160.jpg For the currency based pages i was wondering would it be best (or easier) to exclude them in the robots.txt or use a rel canonical? If using the robots.txt (would be much easier to implement then rel canonical) to exclude the currency versions from being indexed what would the correct exclusion be? Would it look something like: Disallow: */?currency/ Google is indexing the currency based pages also: http://s4.postimg.org/hjgggq1tp/screenshot_161.jpg Cheers,

HTTP Pages Indexed as HTTPS
My site used to be entirely HTTPS. I switched months ago so that all links in the pages that the public has access to are now http only. But I see now that when I do a site:www.qjamba.com, the results include many pages with https in the beginning (including the home page!), which is not what I want. I can redirect to http but that doesn't remove https from the indexing, right? Duplicate Content for Deep Pages
Hey guys, For deep, deep pages on a website, does duplicate content matter? The pages I'm talk about are image pages associated with products and will never rank in Google which doesn't concern me. What I'm interested to know though is whether the duplicate content would have an overall effect on the site as a whole? Thanks in advance Paul

Avoiding Duplicate Content - Same Product Under Different Categories
Hello, I am taking some past advise and cleaning up my content navigation to only show 7 tabs as opposed to the 14 currently showing at www.enchantingquotes.com. I am creating a "Shop by Room" and "Shop by Category" link, which is what my main competitors do. My concern is the duplicate content that will happen since the same item will appear in both categories. Should I no follow the "Shop by Room" page? I am confused as to when I should use a no follow as opposed to a canonical tag? Thank you so much for any advise!

Landing page indexed and ranking in less then 24 hours
Hi, I got a landing page which went up last night about 11pm. Its been indexed and ranked since then. Its a EMD and has about 600 words of unqiue content. It currently sits on page 9 for what I would say is a non competitive term (the top result is not an EMD and has 10 backlinks from the same site, which has no PR). Now my question is this: Would you say that page 9 is the given position Google thinks this website should sit at? Or because its so new could I very much expect some more movement? Basically up the rankings? Cheers
