Google Increases Titles and Meta Descriptions Length
-
So, we now know that Google are changing the Title and Meta Desc length limits to 70 and 200 respectively. Does this mean we all need to jump to immediate attention and modify all our current pages OR, do we wait?
-
Hi,
Do nothing until Google has rolled this out and confirmed that they are going to go with it. You don't want to make lots of changes if you only have to change them all back again - this could cause you a number of issues.

I'd always hold out or test a few pages see if they benefit or get hammered.

The effect of having CR LF HT commands in a <title>tag</title>
Hello. I am looking at a customer site with a CMS system that is controlling the population of the meta TITLE Currently it has the TITLE set as this <title>(CR)(LF)<br />(HT)Site Details REMOVED - Customer name REMOVED(CR)(LF)<br /></title> Naturally, we would prefer it to be <title>Site Details REMOVED - Customer name REMOVED</title> What affect would these commands have in the title! Google shows their title when you Google the company website... so I guess it can see it .... but GA "Top Site Content" widget shows it as blank ? Any ideas? Cheers

Mobile Meta Description shorter then Desktop?
I'm pretty sure when I counted the mobile meta description in Google, it's a lot shorter then the recommended 165 char for desktop. Is it shorter or am I just seeing things?

How should I fix my short meta descriptions?
I recently added meta descriptions to several community-supplied pages for our open source website http://spree.tw/N53HuO Google Webmaster Tools is complaining/warning that the meta descriptions are too short. The descriptions are being supplied by our users and they typically do not lend themselves to anything much longer than what is being entered already. I was thinking of adding some text to the end of the meta description. Something like "This is one of many third party extensions for Spree supplied free of charge by our community" or something else like that. Is it acceptable practice to reuse a snippet in your meta description like this? Do you suggest other alternatives? Since meta description doesn't affect page rank can I use terms that I'm trying to rank for on my home page without cannibalizing my link juice? TIA, Sean

Schema.org and Google +
Now that google merged local into Google+, should we be changing the way we do the reviews on our sites to be out of 3? I had one out of 5 and it showed up in the SERPS, but since the change now nothing shows.

Title Tag length and UTF-8
Hello seomozers! Today I've come to one interesting question about Title Tag lenght in UTF-8 coded content. It's relevant to description tag lenght too. So, as we all know SEO best practices recommend that my Title tag should be under 70 (or 75) characters. Now, we have a website which is UTF-8 coded. That means that our special characters (some lithuanian letters) at the end gains +4 or +5 characters in length. So Google Webmaster Tools in our case report that some Title Tags are longer than they should be (exceeded by those +4 or +5), but in SERPs we see clear and not trunctated Title Tags (which means that our title tags are displayed correctly in UTF-8). The question is - should I believe in SERPs and don't take any action or maybe should I notice Google Webmaster Tools recommendations and shorten those tags ? Well, I do believe that at the end it's not so important, but I'd like to hear some more opinions on this simple situation.

Duplicate page title and content
Hello, I have an ecommerce store where we offer many similar products, and the main difference could be the color or memory storage. Due to this reason my main problem appears to be be duplicate page title and content. What is the best way to correct this issue? I cant make them different neither. I always include this particular difference in title or description. I guess it is not enough? any way to fix it? thanks!
