Why does Intelligent Personal Assistant (IPA) gives different results than a Google search for a very similar or identical query?
-
My client Dr. Harris ranks #1 in SERPs and Local results for many terms, including "hair transplant surgeon Denver" However, when I did a voice search w Siri ""find me a hair transplant surgeon in Denver" Siri said she could find no results. A similar search for a clinic returned 2 competitors, but not my client. How do I ensure we are served up in voice queries? This surgeon deserves it, he invented most of the technology in use in the world today.

Hey James,
I'm afraid I don't know enough about this, either. It's my understanding that local reviews play a part in Siri results. How is your client doing on Yelp? I find it odd that Siri can find zero results for your query in a large city like Denver.

Thank you. I just went into Bing and Hair Sciences Center comes up #1 organic for "hair transplant surgeon Denver" and is listed #4 in Bing's Local results. So although I appreciate your response and that of Mark I am still in the dark as to why this is happening and how to fix it.

Yes, Siri is not using Google at the moment for gathering it's data. They have a deal with Bing which explains more. Still it can be that you're ranking differently for Bing and Google and in our datasets we actually see that quite a lot. Wish it was more combined that if you rank nr 1 on Google with a lot of authority you would rank as well on Bing.

Hi,
I believe that Siri uses Bing for their search engine rankings. So first of all I would check if the rankings in Bing are more closely to the results in Siri. I find this topic very interesting but I never really looked into it. There are many good articles about SEO for voice search. An article from SEMrush about this: https://www.semrush.com/blog/how-virtual-assistants-like-siri-and-google-now-impact-seo/

Google Beacons
We received Google Beacons for each of our physical locations, the info from Google is: It transmits a signal via BLE to smartphones within 11 meters It will provide information to visitors and offer opportunities to see products and add reviews It's connected to your Google Ads account somehow It is "on" as soon as it's removed form it's box It has to be activated via a provided code My question: Where does the data transmitted by the Beacon come from? How can I control that data? Is it pulled from our GMB account? THX for reading and responding, I'll add more to this as I learn more about Beacons. KJr PS: See ya @ MozCon 🙂

Local Search - Google Mobile Results (Web&App)
Hi, I have a client with multiple locations. One of the locations manager is searching for branded and non-branded keywords on his mobile phone and not able to locate the business (within the parking lot of the location). Our ranking reports via a local search platform and manual checks indicate the location is actually ranking well. and we're seeing progress in GA. Has anyone deal with something like this before? This is a location that recently opened to the public. The concern is around mobile web and app results. I'm looking for some guidance around how to approach the situation. I'm sorry I cannot provide more details on the client.

Google's rel=publisher tag question
Hi, i have a question about the use of rel=publisher tag on a large retail website with multiple local stores. There is 1 e-commerce website where i want to put the rel publisher tag from the main Google + businesspage. There are also 60 local google+businesspages, And on the main website every store has his own store-page. Is it good to put on all the 60 storepages their own rel=publishertag connected with the localbusinesspages on google? Or should i Stick at the main rel=publisher tag connected with the main google+page? Thanx, Leonie

How many websites in Google Serps
Let say you are an electrician. You have a website in Google Serps After much deliberation you realise that the current domain name is giving the wrong signals to your potential customers. So you decide to rebrand to a new domain name. The new domain will have fresh content (no duplication). Question

Can you have both instances live in Google Serps and eventually retire the current website via a 301 redirect to the new domain. Thanks Mark0 -
Is there a tool out there that can help me determine how people in a particular area search for things?
I'm attempting to create geo-specific landing pages for a client. For example if I'm targeting southern Milwaukee very specifically I'd have to target Oak Creek, South Milwaukee, Bay View, etc. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to create landing pages for every one of those. Is there a tool to help with this issue? The tool I use right now is this http://www.5minutesite.com/local_keywords.php I like it for getting the names of every city/village/town in the area. However, it doesn't answer the nagging question ... how do people search for services in those areas?
