Not ranking - Scarped content
-
Hi,
I have a problem with a website, that never compe up with before.
The website is: https://www.enallaktikidrasi.com
It has a bunch of excellent articles, good enough on-page SEO and a medium backlink profile. However, it is ranking just for very very few keywords.
The major problem is that there are original articles that searched by their title won't appear in top100 results but they will appear in other websites that scapre them (even if they give a backlink to our original article!)
Also, the website has good rankings in Bing and Yahoo but not in Google. There are keywords ranking in #1 in Bing but nowhere in top10 pages in Google....
I am guessing for 3 issues:
1. Majestic shows a very low trust score (just 13). However, the website has not got any kind of penalty in the last 3 years.
2. There are many scarpers. The odd is that scarpers with no real value outrank our content. (Scarpers with almost zero backlink profile)
3. We ran Sucuri on website as there were a large bots attack. Is there a correlation between it bots attack and Google results? (but why not in Bing and Yahoo too?)
It seems like Google underestimates the website when indexing websites for some reason. Moreover, some of the articles are really the best around but the keywords they are targeted are not either within the 30 first pages...
Any help?? Thanks..

Thats for sure right, but the problem is that we have made many DMCA's
When we do a DMCA, almost immediately Google ranks our site 1st when searching for the exact title of the article and scrapers are below. However, after 2-3 days our article disappears again.
I really can't understand what is going on and guess that our domain is depreciated for some reason. I suspect it is going on due to 2 reasons:
-
It seems impossible not rank even in 100 results for an article when scrapers rank 1,2, or 3 top position for the same article, and scrapers have lower website quality or bad backlinks profile. It cant be possible neither findind our website in top10 pages. So, I think it is a matter of domain undervalued.
-
It can't be possible all the articles in Bing and Yahoo getting 1st when searching with their title and only scrapers with better backlink profile outrank us in this case (despite the fact that they link to our articles.) However, in Bing and Yahoo, even if competitors are #1 or #2 result, we are for sure 1st page and just below them (#2 or #3.) I can understand it absolutetly. But cannot understand why Google neither shows our article in 100 results. Its just abnormal. (And the articles are properly indexed).
So confused...

If you have a genuine case of copyright infringement and have done what you need to do to protect your property then you might be able to start a DMCA complaint campaign against these pirates. We had a lot of infringement happening so we got legal guidance to be sure we understand fair use, understand the possible consequences of filing DMCA and making sure that we were in a defensible position. Then we started filing DMCAs to Google and to hosting companies and filing complaints to Adsense, where the sites were monetized that way. Last year we filed over 100 DMCAs and lots of complaints to Adsense. That work required a lot of time but it was helpful for improving our situation. In the end it was time well spent.
Be sure to get qualified legal advice because copyright laws and the principles of fair use and fair dealings vary from one country to another. Google will assist the defense of accused infringers in court if they believe that DMCA has been misused.

Have you thought about using Cloudflare? From what I can understand, it can help block malicious traffic.
There is no telling exactly what Google is objecting to - if the site keeps dropping, this could be a major issue.

Thank you Andy.
It's true there are problems at some times. The problems derive from bot traffic. We have installed Sucuri in order to protect the spam activity.
That's my question exactly. I suspect that Google "sees" all this bot traffic and maybe undervalues the whole website.
There is exceptionally good and unique content and almost 16.000 articles...

I don't know if it's related, but I can't actually get to the site at the moment.

Mobile website content optimisation
Hi there, someone I know is going to put their site to a mobile version with a mobile sub domain (m.). I have recommended responsive but for now this is their only way forward to cope with the 21st April update by Google. My question is what is the best practice for content, as its a different url will there need to be a canonical tag in to stop duplication and thus being penalised from the Google panda update? Any advice much appreciated.

Dulpicate Content being reported
Hi I have a new client whose first MA crawl report is showing lots of duplicate content. The main batch of these are all the HP url with an 'attachment' part at the end such as: www.domain.com/?attachment_id=4176 As far as i can tell its some sort of slide show just showing a different image in the main frame of each page, with no other content. Each one does have a unique meta title & H1 though. Whats the best thing to do here ? Not a problem and leave as is Use the paremeter handling tool in GWT Canonicalise, referencing the HP or other solution ? Many Thanks Dan

Eligible To Rank For Few Queries
I can't figure out why this site (www.liveathomeseniors.com) is eligible for so few search queries on Google Webmaster Tools. I know there is a lot of work to be done, but this is my biggest puzzle right now. What am I not seeing? 379 pages are indexed and yet the site is has only been deemed eligible to rank for 3 queries over the past 3 months. Is it all the repetition in the way the content has been structured? I'd appreciate people's thoughts on this. I can't see the forest for the trees. Donna

WHOIS-info a ranking factor?
Hi How important is it to configure your domain info in the same way as the contact info of your website? I heard having a long expiry date on the domain and having proper contact info helps create domain trust? Any tips on this? Info on how to set this up in an optimal way? Thanks in advance Fredrik

Sudden drop in rankings
Hi there, I've been working on this site for three or four months (it was a brand new site), and we were seeing some really great improvements in rankings. I've concentrated on writing lots of good quality content and building a network of links through blogging and social networks. Then, last weekend (6th October), we got completely wiped off of the results. We went from rankings 2,3 and 4 for our target terms to not being in the top 100. I assumed we'd been given a penalty from Google as we'd been SEOing too hard and removed a reciprocal links page we had and asked Google to reconsider. I just got a message back saying there hasn't been any manual penalty, so it's just down to the algorithm. I'm running am SEOMoz analysis, but so far it's just coming up with things like page titles too long and too many links on pages, which I can fix, but don't seem like something that would completely destroy us so abruptly. I think we really have the most and best content on the subject of becoming a model, which has taken a great deal of effort to put tgether, so this is crushing. If anybody can shed any light, I'll be extremely grateful, and I'd be interested to knwo if anyone else has experienced anything similar. Thanks in advance! URL: www.modellingadvice. info Kat

Local Keywords Not Ranking Well in a Geographic Location (but Rank Very Well Outside of Geographic Location)
Has anyone experienced, in the last few months, an issue where a website that once ranked well for 'local' terms in Google stopped ranking well for those terms (but saw a ranking decrease only within the geographic location contained within those keywords)? For example only, some 'root' keywords could be: Chicago dentist Chicago dentists dentist Chicago dentists Chicago What happens is that when a searcher searches from within the geographic area of Chicago, IL, the target website no longer ranks on the 1st page for these types of keyword phrases, but they used to rank in the top 3 perhaps. However, if someone was to search for the same keyword phrases from another city outside of Chicago or set a custom location (such as Illinois or even Milwaukee, WI perhaps) in their Google search, the target website appears to have normal (high) 1st page rankings for these types of terms. My own theory: At first I thought it was a Penguin related issue but the client's rankings overall haven't appeared to have been affected on the date(s) of Penguin updates. Authority Labs and Raven Tools (which uses Authority Labs data) did not detect any ranking decrease and still reports all the local keyword rankings as high on the 1st page of Google. However, when the client themselves goes to check their own rankings (as they are within that affected geographic area), they are no where to be found on the 1st page. :S After some digging I found that (one of) the company's Google Places listings (the main office listing) became an 'unsupported' status in Google Maps. So now I am thinking that this phenomenon is due to the fact that other listings are now appearing in search results for the same location. For example, in this case, an individual dentist's Google Places listing (who works within the dental office) is being displayed instead of the actual dental office's listing. Also, the dentist's name on the Google Places listing is being swapped out by Google with the name of the dental office, but if you click through to the Google Places listing, it shows the name of the individual Dentist. Anyone encounter a similar issue or have any other theories besides the Google Places issue?

Duplicate content, how to solve?
I have about 400 errors about duplicate content on my seomoz dashboard. However I have no idea how to solve this, I have 2 main scenarios of duplication in my site: Scenario 1: http://www.theprinterdepo.com/catalogsearch/advanced/result/?name=64MB+SDRAM+DIMM+MEMORY+MODULE&sku=&price%5Bfrom%5D=&price%5Bto%5D=&category= 3 products with the same title, but different product models, as you can note is has the same price as well. Some printers use a different memory product module. So I just cant delete 2 products. Scenario 2: toners http://www.theprinterdepo.com/brother-high-capacity-black-toner-cartridge-compatible-73 http://www.theprinterdepo.com/brother-high-capacity-black-toner-cartridge-compatible-75 In this scenario, products have a different title but the same price. Again, in this scenario the 2 products are different. Thank you
