Getting your business name on a Google Map?
-
How do you get your business name to appear on Google Maps? See attachment. What's the process to get this to happen? I have a Google Local listing, but that doesn't seem to be enough.
-
Oh, my, I'm totally laughing at myself right now. I read your business name off your initial screenshot as 'OLD' rather than 'QLD' so I was searching for the wrong name. Hahah!
I was seriously wondering what 'old drone photography' was!
Okay, so yes, this is a GMB listing:
Looks like you've got some work cut out for you earning reviews, Tony, and the Google trust that goes along with them. Hi Tony,
This is a Google+ page: https://plus.google.com/b/101693763581475613867/+QlddronesAu/posts?gmbpt=true&hl=en-GB
It is not a Google My Business listing.
I am not able to turn up a GMB listing for your business searching for its name + Bellbowrie Australia.
To get a Google My Business listing, you'd be starting here: https://www.google.com/business/
I confess, I'm a bit confused about your mention of postal validation, though. That sounds like you DO have a GMB listing. Here's an example of one in the USA:
Do you have a maps-based link like this for your business?

Thanks for the very helpful responses here. I am still a bit unsure what I've done, because at the end of the day I seem to be on Google Plus either way. But I presume if I can see my page listed on https://business.google.com/manage/#/pages then it is a business page and not a Plus page? Is that right?
I received a postcard from Google a month or so ago and used that to verify my page. The page has address details and phone number and photos and videos and posts, which I would have thought covers off on the "rich content" requirement.
This is a link to my page taken from the above "pages" link: https://plus.google.com/b/101693763581475613867/+QlddronesAu/posts?gmbpt=true&hl=en-GB

Hi Tony,
What you are asking about is a 'Place Label'. Here's Google's official page on those: https://support.google.com/business/answer/6056435 Hope this helps!

Hi there,
Agree with Mark on his suggestions. Also, if you have not done so:
-
Make sure you verify your page, either by phone (not always available) or via postcard (this usually takes 1-2 weeks to arrive)
-
Update / fill out all of the page information (summary, hours, website, images, phone number, etc.)
-
Make sure you created a Google My Business Listing and not a Google+ page
Here is another help article to help troubleshoot: https://support.google.com/business/answer/145585?hl=en

Hi,
You can add a place manually with Google MapMaker, but it is not available in every country (see this list). For more information, see this support page: https://support.google.com/mapmaker/answer/1096044?hl=en
Alternatively you could use the option "send feedback" on Google Maps when you search for your location. Here you can add a missing place with all your business information. Hope this helps you.

How to verify Google My Business (GMB) account in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE)
Hi folks, I know the majority of you are based in the US, so won't be experiencing the same problem as me. I have set up a Google My Business account for a company here in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The only problem is that I can't verify it using the normal methods like a postcard being sent out as the UAE doesn't have a postal service, so there are no postcodes to target an address. Basically I go through the process of creating a GMB account, setting the address details and map marker, then try to verify the account by postcard (this is the only way). I wait 14+ days but still no postcard arrives for obvious reasons - no postal address! So - my question is, how do we get round this problem? I know it can be done as there are plenty of businesses out there in Dubai that are verified on Google maps and GMB. Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Would two telephone numbers on a website affect NAP consistency? One is the "actual" business number with Schema, the other is a call tracking number.
Hello! I have two telephone numbers listed on a website - one is the "actual" business number and is utilizing proper schema, while the other is a call tracking number featured more prominently on the site (both in the header and above the "actual" business number in the footer). The code looks like this: New Patients: 999-555-5555 Current Patients: 555-555-5555 Does Google prioritize the "actual" business number because it has the proper schema on it? Or would the call tracking number still be counted and affect NAP consistency for Local SEO? Thanks!

Is the new local 3-pack the death of Google+ as factor?
So now we have the new 3-pack local results, which obviously cut the listings Google+ link from the results. What I find strange is that is now even when searching the business name alone, there is no sign of the associated Google+ page in the results. I still get other local third party listings like Facebook, Yellowpages, and Yelp – but no link anywhere for the Google+ page. I noticed this today when I wanted to verify something on a client’s page. There was nothing I could do search wise to bring up this business Google+ page. I finally got it by clicking the link through Moz local. After exploring this with some other clients, when I do get a Google+ page in the search results some have produced a 500 error when clicked on. If Google wasn’t killing off Google+, why would they completely omit the pages from their own search results? Another extremely strange thing, the majority of my clients are independent local businesses inside a large national company. Their Google+ listings have always been managed corporately using a bulk listing feed. We could never gain access to these pages and would always manage our listings to match that of the corp. controlled page. Well the last week of July they announced they were giving us the option to take control of the page. This happened with two different companies, MAJOR national competitors in the same industry, within a couple days of each other. They now treat it just like another version of social media, instead of a major factor within search. I find it hard to believe that something isn’t going on…

Will changing my business location affect my ranking for localised searches in my original area?
I run a mobile outdoor personal training service in London, UK (i.e. no bricks and mortar gym). Or, rather, my business is in London (all my clients and the freelance trainers that work for me) but I'm personally due to move out to the county of Suffolk. As I work from a home office and my company's registered address is my home, that means I have to inform Companies House and various government agencies that the company has moved. Does this mean: a) I also must tell Google the company has moved, and; b) if I do will Google start to see my website as being for a Suffolk-based company? I really don't want this to happen: my clientele are mostly in London., I still want to market to Londoners. And if I want to expand the areas covered by my company, Suffolk is not high on my list. You'll excuse me if this is a simple question! Thanks for any help you could give

Is there any way to stop yahoo local from adding names to local listings?
I've been coming across many yahoo listings that have a "First Name, Last Name-Business Name" as the listing title including one that I came across that includes my name and my company's business. There's no reason why I should be listed on the listing. Yahoo, says that they pull data from other sources: Localeze ExpressUpdateUSA YP Yext But none of those sites have my name connected to them other than in the account information. Yahoo, doesn't seem to have a good way to fix their listings. I sent their customer support an email about it but I'm not expecting to get much out of it. Does anyone know of a good way to get around/fix this?

Help with Google Places, local listings & Google+ please!
Hi all, I work for enterprise app development & mobile consultancy, Mubaloo. I recently asked a question around getting better rankings for London-based search results. One answer was to set up a local listing for Mubaloo's London office. I thought I had done by setting up our London office up on Places for Business - is this the same as a local listing? In addition to this, I can't connect our existing Google+ page to our local Mubaloo Bristol & London listings as Google has created separate pages for each! Is anyone else having this issue? Can it be resolved?
