How to measure the competition for online store ?
-
Hello , first I'm sorry about the beginner's questions ,
I looking for niche to open online store and try to find niche that there is no bery high competition.
something that I can compete in this niche .
My main question is how to measure the competition for online store?
I mean when I do research on main keywords for the niche store.
I see the overview and the SERP Analysis ,which parameters I see as a hard competition?
-lets say I take the average of "Linking RDs To Root Domain" , which numbers are ok and no very high ?
-I check all the page rank and see the average of first page , how I can if average of 5-6-7 is ok or hard competition?
-the sane question is Page Authority , is there is some range that I can see hard competition?
If you have some articles that can help me to learn and understand that world , or some place to start there I will be happy
Thank you , Mark

Mark,
The Moz tools offer some excellent competition comparisons. You can create a campaign, input keywords to track and follow competition. The tracking shows DA, linking C blocks, etc. and will track on a line graph how your site is doing against the competition.
As far as selecting an industry or niche, this will take lots of research. My suggestions would be to find something that you're knowledgeable or passionate about. This way you have lots of content you'll be excited about creating.
There are many things you need to consider when selecting a keyword to go after. But in your situation i would tell you to look at these two, keyword competition and indexed pages for the keyword. This will help you see how much competition there is for a specific niche.
There's lots of tools you can use to get more information, and if you're going to go forward with launching a site do your due diligence and research. Good luck to you.
Chris

MoZ vs SEMRush - Keyword Difficulty and Keyword With Low Competition.
Hi, My question is very focussed regarding these 2 tools. Is it correct to understand that MoZ tells keyword difficulty and not which keyword is easy to compete. And SEMRush tells which keyword is easy to compete but does not tell which keywords are difficult to compete? I mean one (Moz) misses the one part and the other (SEMRush) misses the other part. Hope some will enlighten me to the point. Best

SeoMoz: Competitive domain analysis report doesn't add up?
Hi, When I check OSE against the Competitive Domain Analysis report in my account the numbers are way off. If the CDA report was 100%, OSE is showing 30% of that. I'm looking at linking root domains with no filters applied. Is the data not pulled from the same db? Thanks.

Competitive Link Comparison vs. Open Site Explorer
I get different external followed links showing in the Competitive Link Comparison vs. Open Site Explorer. The total number of links is different as well. I thought this was the same info - just one tracks ongoing and one is just a "one-off" tool. Is this not the case? Do the count links differently? Thanks! Kevin

Competitive Link Analysis not showing links.
Hate asking such a vague question, but my SEOMoz link analysis report is not showing any backlinks for a client of mine. I loaded the information the same way I did my other clients, which show all links. www.domain.com is being forwarded properly to domain.com. I know there are backlinks because I put many of them there myself over the last couple of months. Clearly this is affecting my Moz score. Not sure how to troubleshoot this. Can anyone offer suggestions? Grazie mille! Regards, Dino

How can competition outrank you if your site has better Domain/Page Authority, More links, and More Social sharing?
Say you have a site that has better Domain/page authority, more links, more social media sharing, and a lot more indexed pages (thanks to blogging) than the competition. Of course all of these metrics are based off of data from SEOMoz open site explorer tool which I am not sure if it produces accurate data. 1. Other than exact match domains or the age of a domain what would be other reasons why competition would outrank you? 2. Can anyone suggest other ways to help increase a sites domain/page authority besides creating more indexed pages, link building, etc..?

Why did Domain Authority go up so much? Did you change your measurement?
Our Domain Authority has been at 42 or 43 for a couple months and it just increased to 54. Why did this happen? I would like to think that it is because of out SEO and linkbuilding work. However, I suspect something else may be involved because the 3 competitors we track also all increased between 10 to 25 points at the same time. What happened? Did you make changes in the way you score DA or is this the result of changes in what pages you crawl? Or what?

Competitive Domain Analysis Question
When looking at the Competitive Domain Analysis I noticed that I am the only one amongst my competitors that does not have a link from DMOZ. The problem is, I do have a link from them. When you search for my site on dmoz.org you can find my site and it has been that way for quite a while. Anyone know any possible reasons it may be doing this?

Strange Ranking On 1st Page Of Google For Competitive Keyword
Hey all, So, I've noticed a site ranking on the first page in Google for a keyword that I have been targeting for years. The keyword is "mixtapes" and pretty competitive. The site, http://www.newyorkmixtapes.com is ranking around #4 in Google. It seemed odd to me so I looked into the site using some of the tools here. Open Explorer showed that they have minimal links. The actual site is pretty spammy also. Does anyone have any idea how this site ranked so high so fast? Is it ranking because I am located in New York? Does Google still put lots of weight on exact match domains? It's just been bothering me because it's a keyword that I put a lot of work into and then the site rolls around an ranks well for it with barely any backlinks. I just wanted to put it out there and see if I'm missing something obvious. Thanks everyone!
