I just uncovered a massive 500+ domain PBN linking to competitors
-
As the title, some competitors I've been watching are using a PBN they (or their agency) have built.
I'm looking to get some discussion on how you approach situations like this - do you just report all of the domains to Google and pray they do something?
There are 4 sites I'm looking at, all competing in the same niche with very similar websites (different branding and content, but essentially the same pages). I thought all were related, but after Excel-ing all the domains to see which overlap I've found that there's several sets;
PBN 1 covers 117 domains that link to competitors A, B & C. Signaling to me that these are owned by the same person.
PBN 2 links together B & C with 30 domains,
PBN 3 is just C with 40 domains.
PBN 4 is just B with 105 domains.
PBN 5 is just A with 10 domains.
PBN 6 is D by itself with more than 340 domains. Signaling to me that this one probably isn't owned by the same person.
It looks like new domains are added to these PBNs every week and this has been going on for quite some time.
Now, I'm fully against use of PBNs that don't use authentic websites that provide value, and I can't find any of these sites that aren't just a basic WP template with a single-word text logo followed by spun content.
This is a goldmine, because according to Ahrefs these sites are pulling in well over 500,000 monthly visitors between them, and these links make up the majority of each site's link profile. If these networks were to crumble, that would open up a big opportunity for more authentic sites to rank well.
How would you recommend to tackle this? Do I find example URLs and write reports for each of the 500+ domains or are there better ways of working through this?

Each domain in a PBN should leave no footprint and if you have found it then Google will find it/them.
For the 4 sites have you got any proof of relationship - contact details, whois, duplicate content, same plugins/layout, a very good reason to believe they are from the same source?
It would be very foolish of them to leave such a huge footprint as to link to all the sites.
Have you checked the PBN domains to see if they share the same C class? e.g. http://smallseotools.com/class-c-ip-checker/? or http://www.authoritydomains.com/bulk-ip-checker.php
If they were totally lazy then there is probably only a handful of hosting accounts. If that was proven then I wouldn't have any difficulty talking to Google if the SERPs were being distorted by more than one site dominating but basically from the same source. If it was a single site i'd tend to sit back and watch, while building a strong link profile.

It's surely black hat tactics. How do they get away with this? The website has zero content beyond light brochureware.

Link building strategy - my weak link!
Please help me understand link building. I've read the articles on Moz, but they seem vague to me. Specific questions: 1. How do I get my webpage on good quality sites? 2. Guest blogging? Good or not? 3. What about when people pick up one of our blog stories and publish it on their site with a link back? Is that bad now because it is duplicate content??? 4. Forum posts with a link in the signature? Good or not? 5. Directories - I get it that these are no longer good... are they severely negative? Should I take them down. 6. PR - Looks like this is bad... right??? 7. Youtube - any value? 8. Pinterst, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram? Any value to backlinks here? 9. What about sites like redit? 10. Anything else I should consider?

Open Site Explorer and comparing links of competitors , then export the differences?
Hi, I'm totally new to this community so please forgive me if this question is a bit dumb.

A client of mine is trying to get better rankings for a specific keyword and if we check out the competition we notice that our site has way better and more unique content. The tools here at SEOmoz indicates that the competitor sites have more authority, and so probably more backlinks. With the Open Site Explorer I can quickly see what sites are linking to competitor sites.
And since we're in the same country and trying to rank for the same keywords we also are after the same backlinks. Now there are a few that my client is missing compared to the competitors.
So I would love to get a document that tell us what backlinks we are missing instead of
downloading many reports and do all the checks manually. Is this possible? Thank you,

Interesting link to a competitors site
I recently found a very interesting link to two of my competitors sites. The companies are number 2 and 3 in Google for my targeted keywords (for some reason Wikipedia is number 1) and are both linked from the home page of this site. I don't want to leave a link for linkers site because I don't want them to be able to see that I'm snooping on them but, here is the scenerio: The site that they are linked from is a .org site. It is basically our targeted keywords in a .org. Something like bluewidgets.org. At the very bottom of the home page are some tabs, you click the first tab and it opens about 20 new tabs, when you click any of those 20 tabs it displays some text at the bottom of the page. This text is of no value to visitors, it is obvious to me what is happening here. Both companies are linked with targeted keywords in the anchor and title text. I'm wondering if I should also pursue a link from this page. I know there is value in a .org link but this site seems to be built to link to those two sites. Anybody else ever run into anything like I'm describing. Should I post a link to this site?

Does linking to a subdomain give link juice to the main domain?
I have a few domains that I'm going to use for link building, will the link juice from the sub domains transfer to the main domain?
