Best use of an old domain?
-
I've discovered that my clients website used to have another domain name, which they still own but don't use.
It's doing OK considering its not been used for a few years - almost 6,000 backlinks showing on Majestic.
So what's the best way of using this for SEO?
I'm presuming some kind of redirecting? A simple redirect of everything on the domain to the new domain index page? Or going trough all the old pages and redirecting them one by one?

Thanks Bernadette! What would you say is the best way to identify toxic links?
-
Before you go redirecting 6,000 links from another domain to the site, you need to be very aware that redirecting those could have disastrous results. Not saying that it will, but before you redirect one domain to another you should be looking at those links and determining if they're good, bad, or toxic links.
Depending on the type of links and the topic, etc. of those links you'll want to potentially clean up those links before redirecting all of the domain. For example, you may want to remove the toxic links (ask the site owner to remove the link) and/or disavow those links, as well.
Don't just redirect the domain name without vetting those links first.

Thanks Barry, much appreciated!

The biggest benefit would be redirecting old pages to new. If not just redirecting all of the old pages to the new homepage would be ok.
Just make sure that these are the kind of links that you want to have on your domain.

How can I use MOZ to investigate a my recent drop in domain authority?
Between MOZ's last scan of my site and the one before my domain authority dropped from 35 to 29. I'm not sure where to begin investigating this and how I can leverage MOZ in this case. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hyphenating a Domain Name - What would you do?
So I have some chums setting up their own digital outfit. When discussing SEO, naturally domain names came into play. They were looking at 'Gray Digital'. So, initially they jumped to the conclusion that they ought to buy 'graydigital.com' and the .co.uk variant. But a best practice post: http://moz.com/learn/seo/domain - Leads me to think that 'gray-digital.com' may be the better option as far as readability is concerned? Then of course you start thinking - 'should we just make it 'Gray-Digital-Marketing.com' instead?' From your experience, what would you ladies and gents do? Kind regards, John. (EDIT: Having read more around the subject I realise more than one dash is a bad idea. So instead would you bother with the singular hyphen?)

We just recently moved site domains, and I tried to set up a new campaign for the new root domain, but it threw an error?
It threw an error saying we cannot access the SERPs of this site? Any reason why? It is an https:// site instead of the http://, but even our older domain had an https://

Canonicalisation - Best Approach?
Hi I have been reading into canonicalisation and I am looking for professional advice and guidance on the best approach as there are many conflicting views on how to implement a solution. I have added to the homepage http://www.cheapfindergames.com/" /> so that http://cheapfindergames.com and index.php redirects to the www version. Or would it be better using .htaccess if this is the case what code would be needed to achieve the above? Many Thanks

Adding more content to an old site
We have a site which was de-moted from PR4 to PR3 with the latest Google update. We have not done any SEO for a long time for the site and the content is the same with over 100 page. My question is, in order to update the site, which is the best to do it, do we: 1. re-introduced new content to replace old once 2. re-write old content 3. Add new pages Many thanks in advance.

Should I 301 redirect my country specific sites, or use them as linking root domains?
I have loveelectronics.co.uk, but I also own 10 other country code specific domains. I am short on links (i'm actually still setting up the website) and wondered that until i have country specific content, should I 301 redirect these websites to the homepage of my main site, or could I use them as links which would mean I have more linking root domains? Sorry if this is a beginner question, but it would be good to know so I can sort this.
