Is there a way for me to find out how a keyword would rank if it were on a specific site?

So there is really no way to see how a keyword would rank on a competitors site? Is that correct?
Basically you can guess how a keyword would rank on a competitors site based on the page quality and other factors. Is that a fair assessment?
-
It depends on the quality of their page, how people engage it, how they share it, etc.
Poor quality pages on powerful websites can rank poorly. Great pages on nascent websites can rank well, although they would likely rank better on a powerful website.

Thank you for the response, but perhaps I should've been more exact. It is not my site that I want to see the ranking for, but a competitors site.
For example, Let's assume that cnn.com currently does not have the keyword "abcdefg" on their site. Is there a way for me to find out, what the keyword "abcdefg" would rank if they were to put it on their site?

Put it on a page and toss it up. See what happens.
Keywords on websites are not what performs. Instead it is content on websites that determines performance.
Get someone to post yada yada yada about a subject and I'll write a good article and we will see which performs better. Which do you think?
So the secret sauce is not all about the website. Its more about the content and the panache of the person who creates it.
And, although you can use a lot of metrics, those are mostly for entertainment. The real rocket fuel is how your visitors will engage, share, tweet, like, and link the PAGE. Google ranks pages and not websites.

Keyword rankings and main company tagline not matching
I have a question about keywords rankings and on page keywords. I don't rank very well for the keyword "Nutcracker". But, my tag line is "Your one stop Nutcracker and Ballet Gifts source". One of my most important keywords is "Nutcrackers" (see the s 😉 ) and I hot hit really hard in my rankings with the google algorithm update. Almost a 30 position difference from one day to the next. Am I shooting myself in the foot by having Nutcracker being in the forefront, even though my chances of ranking for that are very low as there is high competition with more actual "The Nutcracker" related content. I do have the word "nutcrackers" on my home page...but all of a sudden I feel like i'm wasting space, or I should have made the tagline "Your one stop Nutcrackers and Ballet Gifts source". It just doesn't sound as good. I just recently dove headfirst into SEO and moz, so I consider myself a noob, but I learn quite quickly. Thank you for your help! Whats the best way to research website relevant keywords
I wanted to know the general practices SEO marketers use when initially researching and revisiting relevant keywords for a website. I use this process Brain storm a list of keywords, between me and the client Check out competitors websites & SERP's look at Google adwords traffic analyser ( mostly as a point of reference and for increased ideas) How do others do it? what process do you find works - i'm based in the Uk would be great to get a UK perspective. Obviously you can't optimise for all keywords in your list how best is it to decide on the best value or less competitive keywords? I struggle to get stats for local keywords( not enough search data) - most my clients are local businesses and have limited surrounding service areas. thanks

Is it possible to use the RankTracker to track specific location rankings?
We are a regional store and tracking the "global" rankings isn't super useful. We need to know what our organic rankings are for our specific market area. Is this possible with the SEOMOZ Rank tracker tool? I didn't see this option but I just wanted to check over here since it seems like it would be a pretty common issue. Thanks!
