Is it posible to improve site rankings working only with an other site?
-
Hi everyone, i´ll try to explain a situation is happening to me, i´m goint to try to explain the case (im writing the sites without links for explication purposes.
Site 1: Adventurerooms
Site 2: Adventureroomsmallorca
Site 3: Adventureroomsmadrid (the new site)
What happen is that at first there was only Adventurerooms and Adventureroomsmallorca, Adventurerooms was for Madrid and linked to the one in Mallorca too, was kind of giving the information for Madrid but in first page split with a link to Mallorca.
In a new strategy we create Adventureroomsmadrid for Madrid, and leave Adventurerooms for Spain (with links to Adventureroomsmadrid and Adventureroomsmallorca.
We redirect the info for Madrid in Adventurerooms to Adventureroomsmadrid with 301 redirections.
We work during this 3 months in Adventureroomsmadrid making content in the blog, and improving (now Adventureroomsmadrid is Moz 15 (perhaps even more), and Adventurerooms is Moz 10.
Surprising Adventurerooms is getting better in its search rankings, even when we took away content from it and even without working well.
Adventureroomsmadrid is also improving but not as much as Adventurerooms (i know that is a new site, only 3 months), but Adventurerooms gets better results with no content and only DA of 10.
I hope i´ve explain the case with my english so the question is: "Is it posible to improve site rankings working only with an other site?"
Thanks in advance

Thanks for answering.
i´m not explain myselft well, i´m working in adventureroomsmadrid to improve adventureroomsmadrid, but both are improving even without any job done in adventurerooms.
Adventurerooms is improving without work, now is only a screen with two links (i´m not interesting in improving adventurerooms only interested in adventureroomsmadrid)

Hello there,
Technically, it is possible to improve rankings working on other site. Thar could be only and only because of links pointing from the site being worked to the site to be improved. This is not mathematics, it could work, but there's no garantee.
Im sensing that you're not fully aware of the reasons that would rank a page and even more, that you've skipped reading some resources like:
Begginers guide to SEO - Moz Google’s 200 Ranking Factors: The Complete List - Backlinko.com Search Engine Ranking Factors 2015 - Moz.com How do I build the perfectly optimized page? - Moz blog On-Page SEO: Anatomy of a Perfectly Optimized Page (2016 Update) - Backlinko.com How to Build Backlinks in 2016 (NEW Guide) - GotchSEOc.com
On one hand the fact that adventurerooms get better results is, as you've said, that you've been working on it and there might be more links or a slightly better optimization.
On the other hand, when you say one is better than other in SERPS, is it for the same keywords? if it is for different kws, are they similar? What about the difficulty for those?
And you also should know that the moz's metrics doesnt strictly indicates that a site is better than other just for a few points in the PA or DA. That metrics, weights and correlates the link profile and some magic behind the courtings.Hope i've helped.
GR.

Rankings drastically changing
I monitor our positions for a few keywords but they are very unstable. One day they will be at position 1, 2 or 3 and then all of a sudden not even on Google. We use an IP redirect to guide users to the correct site and I suspect this may be a cause. Could anybody shed some light? Thanks

Chinese Site Ranking for our brand name - possible hack?
Hello, We have been notified in the weekly MOZ rankings that we no longer rank for our brand name, which is almost unthinkable as nobody would target it. When I googled it, there is a Chinese site ranking at number one and using our brand name and meta data. What is very strange is that although our internal pages rank in the secondary positions, our homepage does not appear at all for the brand name. Therefore, I am wondering if somehow we have had some sort of hack and they are somehow redirecting to their own site? The brand name is "uksoccershop". Has anyone ever encountered anything like this before or have any idea on what we should do? Thanks for your help.

Discrepancy in keyword ranking from webmasters and actual ranking.
I have been tracking ranks of some keywords important to my business since the last 2 months. Recently I have observed that, for one of my keywords, google webmasters is giving the avg position as 8 but when i search in google it comes in the 6th page. I know that webmasters tools gives the average position but i do not think there will be such big difference in the ranks. Please help.Thanks.

Why isnt this site ranking?
I just took over for a site and noticed they have no presence for any keywords...not even low ranks. Their backlink profile is not the best, but webmaster tools says they have no manual actions. vonderhaar.com Thoughts on the matter?

Our Site's Content on a Third Party Site--Best Practices?
One of our clients wants to use about 200 of our articles on their site, and they're hoping to get some SEO benefit from using this content. I know standard best practices is to canonicalize their pages to our pages, but then they wouldn't get any benefit--since a canonical tag will effectively de-index the content from their site. Our thoughts so far: add a paragraph of original content to our content link to our site as the original source (to help mitigate the risk of our site getting hit by any penalties) What are your thoughts on this? Do you think adding a paragraph of original content will matter much? Do you think our site will be free of penalty since we were the first place to publish the content and there will be a link back to our site? They are really pushing for not using a canonical--so this isn't an option. What would you do?

Will ranking be improved or hurt by changing 1/5 of part numbers to key words
Note: I bold major content for your quick skim for your convenience. Does this help you decide if its a fit for your response? My site has been devastated by the Panda or unknown reasons so I need to think outside the box. I distribute industrial products with average brand recognition. I only have about 5 competitors selling this same brand. My other brand competitors are billion dollar companies that pay a lot for PPC and have sites with 10 times the product offering. Since my brand recognition is not as important as the function.I'm thinking about changing the part numbers to reflect function. This will affect about 1/5of the parts ( about 500 out of 3,000 parts) . My concern is will ranking be hurt or helped by changing these parts with these strong keywords in front of the part for such a high % of the site. The strong keywords cost $10 for a chance at a $200 sale with repeat business. Example: Current part is: 10-10 Black Plastic; which is a Big Red Truck with my brand part # as 10-10 and comes in different colors of plastic. . Keyword is Big Red Truck. I would like to put my manufactures brand in the description. My same brand competitors sell 10,000 parts and my logic is that if I have the brand in 1/5 of my parts ranking would be improved because of the % of brand per the site versus my same brand competitors.. So I would change the part # to : **Brand 10-10-Black Plastic Big Red Truck ** In conversation I would state the part as: Brand: 18 characters, Part #: 8, Material:12, Keyword: 27 If the keyword should be first I could change to: K,B P,M. Which is recommended?

Working out exactly how Google is crawling my site if I have loooots of pages
I am trying to work out exactly how Google is crawling my site including entry points and its path from there. The site has millions of pages and hundreds of thousands indexed. I have simple log files with a time stamp and URL that google bot was on. Unfortunately there are hundreds of thousands of entries even for one day and as it is a massive site I am finding it hard to work out the spiders paths. Is there any way using the log files and excel or other tools to work this out simply? Also I was expecting the bot to almost instantaneously go through each level eg. main page--> category page ---> subcategory page (expecting same time stamp) but this does not appear to be the case. Does the bot follow a path right through to the deepest level it can/allowed to for that crawl and then returns to the higher level category pages at a later time? Any help would be appreciated Cheers
