Google Index Issue - Indexing pages that don't exhist
-
Hi All,
I have noticed a weird issue when performing a search on Google to show me all the pages it is indexing of our site.
site:www.one2create.co.uk
It brings up most of our website pages but then is also brings up a few HTTPS urls (our site has not been converted to HTTPS yet) but also the URL path, Title, and Meta Description are from one of our clients websites (an Automotive Job site). When clicked they take you to a generic 404 server error page, not our branded 404 page.
The site that it has taken the url, title and meta description from is on a different server completely so I don't see how it has even managed to get that information and linked it to our site?
Has anyone seen anything like this before? And what is the best way to fix it? We have asked Google to re-index the site but still no luck.

Although being hacked seems like the only reason I can think of at the moment, I am still scratching my head! Its only showing the HTTPS urls in the Google search results. Not in Bing or Yahoo etc.
I can't see any of the HTTPS urls when I perform a crawl of the site in programs such as Screaming Frog. I could understand if we were hacked that it would show spammy results with dodgy links but the results aren't spammy, the Titles and Descriptions are from one of our customers websites? Their site has not been hacked though.

This would make the most sense. We we're hacked a few weeks ago. We had cleaned up the website completely the day we found the issue (uploaded a completely clean version of the whole site to the server). We then installed Wordfence (similar to Sucuri) to protect us from similar things in the future.
I am unsure if we have fixed the issue and it will just take time to correct itself or if the issue is still there?
I will do the redirects though as hadn't done that yet
Thanks for the info!

Hello, I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it looks like your website has been hacked or compromised. I've done some Google searches and one of the first items found was one of your portfolio items which has a redirect to a deceptive site. The portfolio item in question is titled "Callidus Consulting."
The hacker has likely redirected or altered some of your content without your knowledge and it has caused your listing titles and descriptions to be thrown off.
I recommend you do a full security audit and clean up. To start, install the Sucuri plugin to scan, lock down and harden your site against future hacking attempts.
Also, you should consider redirecting https to http because these URLs are indexed. Setup temporary redirects to your homepage for the broken URLs that are indexed so that you don't lose any traffic. Best of luck.

Thanks for the response. Those are not the URLs that I am referring to though. Those URLs in your crawl are from a Instagram Plugin which is pulling in Images from an outsourced URL. Those URLS are working fine, not returning a 404 error and not listed on our One2Create.co.uk domain name.
I have attached a screenshot of what I am seeing in Google which shouldn't be...
The listed Page in Google doesn't exist. We are using a Wordpress CMS system. The page is not in the backend, in the sitemap.xml file etc.

Those seem to be Google+ and Instagram CDN sources that are https originally from what I can see doing a quick crawl of your site.

Creation of Landing Pages. Subdomain or something else?
Hi, I have an issue deciding how my landing pages should be like and I would like to ask for your help. Currently my landing pages are configured and presented like this: http://www.example.com/fra/Landing75.php?t_src=example&t=AFF&t_cre=keyboard-price&t_trm=160o600&B=1496&A=371&TargetURL= I would like to know if making a subdomain landing page is advised, maybe something like this: http://LandingPage.example.com/Landing75.php?t_src=example&t=AFF&t_cre=keyboard-price&t_trm=160o600&B=1496&A=371&TargetURL= Or if you suggest doing something else with my landing pages - I would like to know that as well. p.s. - How I tell the webmasters (my affiliates) to make a clickable button that won't be a direct link to my landing page but will be some form of non-visible redirect? Thanks in advance 🙂

Google indexing PDF's
Hello, We work heavily on E-commerce SEO and recently Google has started to index PDF pages (Datasheets) added to the product pages instead of the actual product pages. Has anyone else noticed this at all? Seems to have got worse over the last month or so. Thanks

Why are Google ranking changes so drastic?
Hi SEOmoz community I'm sure this question has been asked numerous times before. At the same time there must be plenty of people out there wondering about the same thing: Why are Google ranking changes so drastic? It's like the diva of search engines. When checking the SEOmoz ranking reports, sometimes lots of keywords improve, the next week it's vice versa. Mind though that the ranking changes are not in proportion. While improving keywords climb up by approx. 1 - 10 positions, declining keywords always get a smack with a 15 - 25 position drop, even though these very same keywords are being targeted onsite through new content. It seems to make no difference after all 😉 Is it possible, that keyword fluctuations are stronger for younger sites? The site I am talking about is about a year old. Is it possible that more competitive keywords see more drastic fluctuations? Would be interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks!!

Does Page Load Time Affect SEO Rankings?
I was curious about how much page load times affect rankings. Here's what I did: I put together a lot of interactive media on specific landing pages Time-on-Page from organic visitors went from 50 seconds to average of 34 minutes Bounce Rate decreased by 20% Page Load time increased from 1 second to 6 seconds and at peak times to 8 seconds (on 56KB test) In the meantime the page was re-indexed and re-cached My question is three-fold: Would the time on page give higher rankings for keyword Would decreased bounce rate enhance rankings? Would the page load time decrease rankings? Did anyone do a similar test? What were the results?

Massive Google Drop on two sites!
Hi All, We have experienced a massive Google drop on Two of our eCommerce websites in the past week. From Feb - July we were ranked 2 for various key words In Aug we dropped to 8 In September to 96 if not lower. We pay for monthly link building and add unique product info each week (but not much new content such as articles or blogs). My SEO guys has not been that helpful and just sent me a link to the Panda update blog, which doesn't mean a great deal to me. Obviously this has had a massive effect on business, and ideally i need to diagnose the problem and find a new startegy on moving forward, so most likely looking for a for a new SEO guy/company as well. I need someone is proactive, communicates well and make constant suggestions about moving forward not just link building. One thing I would like to add is these two site have a different homepage, category and range structure, but do share some if the 2000 product database. Can anyone help? Any advice on sorting this would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks M

What's the best SEO management system for link building and reporting?
We've tried multiple management systems, with the last one being Raven Tools (I think this is the most popular). We've also done our own manual tracking in excel and that gets very very tedious and sometimes hard to keep track of. What are some other ones that people have found that have been easy to use and made their work much more efficient (link building/tracking, reporting, competitive research, social, etc.)?
