What are the SEO implications of having a website hosted in Singapore (as a subdomain of the global website) when the website is targeting the UK audience?
Will it be hard to get it to rank? Will there be problems with search console?

Hi Toni,
Hosting location isn't going to play a big role in your rankings. Server stats are going to have more to do with that (i.e. is it shared/private/dedicated etc.). You won't have any difficulties or problems with Search Console.
In terms of rankings, you will have the traditional issues of ranking a subdomain (split link juice, the need for unique content, etc.) but nothing out of the ordinary.
If you are targeting a UK audience, the domain should probably be set up as a .co.uk domain, and you should ensure that you are following SEO best practices in setting it up. You will also want to ensure that you are generating backlinks from UK sites to show relevancy.
If you stick within those guidelines you will be just fine.
Let me know if you have any follow-up questions.
Cheers,
Rob

Hi Toni,
In my websites I've never had any problems to get good rankings, having hosted the site in a completely different country than the targeted country.
Of course, you must take into considerations the response time and how fast/well your pages load in uk with that hosting.
To check that, use GTmetrix.com, it's free and you can set to test it from london, UK.Best Luck.
GR.

Question about International SEO
We've just recently launched our website in Canada and our web crawler is showing some pages with "&Country=CA", even if the current page already includes Country=CA. Why is this and how would we go about resolving?

International SEO Setuo
Hi Guys i have a client who is looking to be found in multiple English speaking countries I.e .co.uk, .com and .com.au At first I advised they would need unique content for each to avoid duplication but then the client showed me this site http://welleco.com/ this is setup via shopify on a multisite. All the sites have the same content and are all indexed. My question is can this be done in WordPress? Via something like WPML. And would it need to have seperte hosting and a seperate site or can this be done by something like IP redirect. Can someone advise if this is good practice or maybe suffer other ways? Thanks in advance.

Is it possible to geotag language folders on a .co.uk domain
Hi all, I'm going around in circles a little on this one, so I thought that I'd as as I haven't found anyone asking quite the same thing (sorry if someone has). I have a .co.uk site and would like to set up some different language variations. I've been looking at the subfolder route for now (budget is limited). Can I set a geotag in webmaster tools on a .co.uk site or does it need to be a domain that Google considers country neutral? Many thanks for any suggestions!

International SEO: best practices for local variants of the same language?
We are translating our site into 17 different languages, including local variants of the same language (i.e. Mexican Spanish and Spain Spanish, Canadian English and British English, etc). Should we add all of these local variants to our site? We don't have the marketing / link building budget (or business need) to put these all on separate ccTLDs, so we are using country-specific subfolders instead (example.com/es/). The translations will be of exceptional quality. Our main goal is to pull in some additional traffic from these translations. If we add these local variants, do you think we can expect to see traffic from these different countries (additional traffic from Canada, England, etc)? Any advice / input would be appreciated.

French Canadian Website and French Language URLs
Hello, One of my clients has a question on a new Quebec, Canada version of their website. The website content and copy is in the French Canadian language, but the IT Director has asked if, for the purpose of SEO, should the URLs be in French as well? So, this questions has two parts... For SEO, should the URL's be in French or left in English, to avoid crawl errors? For visitor UX, is there any reason to have them in French versus English?
