Why is my page rank disapointing
-
Hi
fairly new here, so just getting used to everything
one questions please. Just ran a crawl test of the website and this page
http://www.livingphilosophy.org.uk/teaching-philosophy/index.htm
came back with a page authority of 1. Other pages have a rank of 18 through 26
scratched my head for a few hours and came up with no ideas.
thanks
andy

hi and thanks for the feedback
i realised yesterday when i was reviewing your messages that the page i mentioned is actually quite new compared the rest of the site. I guess it will take time for the links to filter through.

Hi Andy,
Just took a look at your site - Kelly was on the right track when she suggested inbound links. An issue this particular page has is that it does not feature any backlinks while other pages on your website do. If you conduct page-by-page searches in open site explorer you will see that each page (with the exception of the one you have noted above) has some form of backlink profile.
Backlinks function as "votes of confidence" in the search engine world, so no backlinks says to Google "no one trusts this page" even if other pages on your site have proven trustworthy. Aside from the backlink issue, your on-site is in good shape and I can't detect any significant issues that would impair your ranking ability. I would use Moz to check your rankings for your targeted keywords and build a few quality backlinks to each page and see what that does to your rankings.
Page authority is predominantly a metric to help you determine the quality of your backlinks to a specific page, so it makes sense that it would be a low number when you don't have any for that page.
Hope this helps to provide some insight - please feel free to reach out if you have further questions or need clarification.
Cheers!
Rob

Hi Andy,
I am not a search engine expert, I know basic SEO. MOZ works out the authority of a page using lots of factors, especially backlinks. It goes to show how competitive a page might be on Google.
When a page has no relevant external links to it from other websites with good Domain Authority, then the score considerably low.
I would say the way to get a better score is to improve the pages SEO, target it more for one key term, make it more readable and easy on the eye. You could improve images and use headings through out. Then you may get more links to the page, meaning a much better page authority score.
Hope that helps,
Kelly

Should I set blog category/tag pages as "noindex"? If so, how do I prevent "meta noindex" Moz crawl errors for those pages?
From what I can tell, SEO experts recommend setting blog category and tag pages (ie. "http://site.com/blog/tag/some-product") as "noindex, follow" in order to keep the page quality of indexable pages high. However, I just received a slew of critical crawl warnings from Moz for having these pages set to "noindex." Should the pages be indexed? If not, why am I receiving critical crawl warnings from Moz and how do I prevent this?

Why does one page rank while a similar page doesn't?
We have a blog post (actually several of them that have the same SEO characteristics) that brings a fair amount of traffic to our site (relatively speaking), and according to Google Webmaster Tools it averages in the top 10 in SERPs for various terms. This page has no external links to it, and very few internal links pointing to it. When I run Moz's On-Page Grader for the various keywords it ranks for, the page get's an F on all of them. It was not optimized for any keyword, and it isn't our best content; it was a blog post written a few years ago and forgotten about and was never promoted in any way. The topic does happen to be about something that people search for frequently. According to the keyword difficulty tool, all of the keywords it ranks for have 40-45% difficulty. We have lots of other pages on our site that we have tried to optimize and that get A's and B's in On-Page Grader, that have both internal (from the home page and main menu) and external links pointing at them, etc, but they don't rank well at all. Keyword difficulty for these keywords is in the same range, from 37 - 53%. Why does this one page rank so well when the other pages don't? Additionally, we have been looking at a competitor who has a page that ranks #1 in universal results for numerous keywords according to SEMRush, yet the page gets an F On-page Grader for those keywords. The page has 3 links to it, all from the same domain and it has a very low domain and page authority. The Domain Authority of this page is 47 and the page authority is 33 according to Open Site Explorer (compared with our DA of 30, and PA of 1), and the social metrics are a bit higher than ours, but neither has a lot (they may have 15 likes to our 10). Why does this page rank so well for them? How can we get our Page Authority higher? Thanks for any and all help.

Massive Drop in Rankings
Hello, My site (www.reynoldsdesignstudio.com) has recently dropped off the map (50+ places) for almost every phrase I was ranking between 3 and 6 on the first page. My main phrases on google were "web design rochester mn", "web development rochester mn" I have been setting up a new web server but have not pointed this domain at that server yet so it shouldn't be anything related there. I also have not updated the site in a couple years (I know that's bad), so it doesn't appear to be a hacking issue either. I was 'hacked' a few years back where I gained a TON of crappy links from China and what-not but it never appeared to affect anything. I'm not sure if that is what is causing the recent drop in rankings. If anyone has any ideas on what could have caused the issue that would be great. According to my GA traffic I had a spike earlier in the month and then it has steadily dropped off. This is consistent with my actual page rankings. Thanks OAsjcHw

Rankings Report not working
Hi (What happened to the User Voice feedback in PRO campaign reports? Another cutback because of scalability?) I'm getting sent here for Help on the reports It's Friday morning here in France ; I'm preparing a meeting with a client and as part of this I want their Rankings Report from the campaing I set up for them month's ago Half the keywords are showing up as "SAT" ; the message at the top says "Your keywords are updated weekly on Saturday. The last update was January 26th, 2013" They're not new keywords, if I click on them I get historic data up untill January 19th I'm guessing you had a problem on January 26th but why not put January 19th rankings rather than SAT ? The report is now useless. Here's the url if useful http://pro.seomoz.org/campaigns/54444/rankings Neil

"Too many on-page links" warning on all of my Wordpress pages
Hey guys, I've got like 120 "Too many on-page links" warnings in my crawl diagnostics section. They're all the pages of my WordPress blog. Is this an acceptable and expected warning for Wordpress or does something need to be better optimized? Thanks.

Why are the rankings of my keywords different to rankings from other programmes such as 'Access my Lan' and 'Firefly'? Does SEOMoz count 'Google Places and Maps' in their rank count? Im thinking this could explain the difference

On-Page URL
Hopefully I am missing something basic... I can't see how to specifically add and delete On-Page reports. It seems like running a report adds it but how to delete? Also, how does one change the URL for a report? I have re-organized some pages and can't seem the get the on-page report to keep my URL change. Here is what I tried. From the On-Page report card for a keyword I changed the URL and ran the test. Test runs ok but if I navigate back to the summary my old bad URL is still there.
