Flauctuating number of Internal Equity-Passing Links affecting DA
-
My site has a high number of fluctuating internal equity passing links in open site explorer from month to month, theses range from 30 000 and sometimes as high as 1,million. The fluctuations occur even when I have made no changes onsite. I have noticed that when the internal equity passing links are very high the DA drops and when they are low the DA is high, has anyone ever experienced this with open site explorer ?

Thanks for the response. It does make sense but I will also send the site in question just to make sure you can the best idea of what I mean. Thanks

Hi there,
Sam from Moz's Help Team here!
It's hard to pinpoint what could be happening here without a specific example/side by side comparison, but there could be a variety of things coming into play in terms of why you're seeing such dramatic fluctuations. One of these could be that in Open Site Explorer, you might be alternating between looking at the results for 'this page'/'this subdomain'/'this root domain' - all of which could present wildly different results. It's also completely normal to see fluctuations in DA and the number of links because sample sizes and sources fluctuate in each index update. Rand actually wrote a really great summation of the reasons for DA drops here, but I'll summarise below for you:
1.You've earned relatively more or less links over the course of the last 30-90 days.
2. You've earned more links, but the highest authority sites have grown their link profile even more.
3. The links you've earned are from places that we haven't seen correlate well with higher Google rankings.
4. We've done a better or worse job crawling sites/pages that have links to you (or don't).We collect our link index data by starting our crawler on a few highest ranking sites and letting it perform a breadth first search to see what it finds. For each page that we crawl, we first collect each of it’s links before following these and collecting the details of each page that these link to and so on. There’s a set limit of links that we’ll crawl per page and pages that we’ll crawl per site so it’s expected that we may not follow every link on your site this way and the results may change from index to index. Other things could affect our ability to find certain links within your site from index to index, such as 404/server errors etc - any potential problem within your site at the time we crawled it that prevented us from finding the links we otherwise would have.
I hope this helps - if you have any other questions, feel free to pop a message over to help@moz.com with a specific website example and we can dive in and see what we can figure out:).

Unsolved Why Links Overview is showing '0' "Internal, followed links" when we have many?
Hi, Our site is showing '0' internal links on Links Overview when all other metrics appear to be updating correctly. Any idea why might this be happening? Or are there any issues with the MOZ getting the data from our site when it does a crawl?

Inbound links not found in Moz Pro(though they exist)
These sites have many inbound links but Moz Pro finds no such links. I also used SimilarWebPro Trial to confirm the existing of such links. (these sites have IP block so it requires an VPN to access with Japan IP) osakado.cc

Why isn't OSE showing any of my links?
My domain uses a redirect of all traffic to https. The site is https://www.tallslimtees.com. I've been working on it this year and know there are several good, topical links coming in. But OSE shows nothing. Any idea why this would be the case? How can I see all of my links and the data on them?

Internal links - OpenSiteExplorer vs Webmaster tools
Hi guys, I run Opensiteexplorer on the website www.fazland.com (in italian...). (https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/comparisons?site=www.fazland.com) It only shows ca 240 internal links where I know there are plenty more also shown in Google Webmaster Tools. I cannot figure out why it can crawl so few links - Google shows 79.000 links found and internal links are pretty well established. Any suggestions from your experience on this difference? Cheers, Rob

Just Discovered links - How long before they are counted toward the PA scores
I have a new website I put up in the last 90 days. I have been watching the DA, PA and Keyword rankings. Once I set up the campaign I got a report back a week later and some data showing some keyword rankings and some DA & PA scores and links showing from 2 domains. Since this time OSE has Just Discovered 16 more backlinking domains - however the DA and PA scores have not changed ? How long after the new Just Discovered backlinks before they affect the scores I am seeing for my DA & PA ? Thank you in advance for any insight on this matter, Happy Holidays - Joe

However its just not showing. I can see the link on their site and I can see that the other partners links are being tracked when I look at them in Open Site Explorer. I've got a couple of occurrences of this I'm and confused as to why? Thanks for your help!

Discrepancy between OSE internal links and Webmaster Tools
Hi, We have been attempting to increase our rankings for our key term for a number of months now, and we are seeing an unusual discrepancy between OSE and Webmaster Tools that we believe may be causing us harm. OSE shows our homepage, www.unionroom.com, as having only 27 internal links (only three of these aren't 301's too), whereas Webmaster Tools is showing just over 1,500 internal links to the homepage. The three pages that OSE are displaying as linking back to the homepage are the homepage, our blog and our accessibility page. These pages are all ran off the same template and have the same header and footer (with three home links spread across header and footer). You can see our confusion! Is this a case of OSE's stats being incorrect (the website has been live for ~6 months) or is there an issue with our in-linking structure that we are missing? Thanks!
