Optimising page for branded search terms
-
Hi, new to keyword research and have a question on branded search terms.
I'm optimising the product pages of a manufacturer's site and assume that the primary keyword for each product page (and therefore the H1 header) should be a detailed product name e.g.'Aqua Power wet and dry cordless vacuum cleaner'. Is it good practise to add the manufacturer's name to the beginning of a product title? I can't determine this by looking at search volume or competition for the two versions of the keyphrase as they are too low to get stats in both cases. Previous SEOs have set up the product titles on my pages without including the brand name but this seems to me to be loosing out on the opportunity to rank for both '[brand name] [detailed product name]' and '[detailed product name]' with the one keyphrase. On the other hand, this site only sells products from one manufacturer so maybe it looks fussy to include the brand name on every product title. I would of course add the manufacturer name to the page title e.g.'Aqua Power wet and dry cordless vacuum cleaner | cordless vacuum cleaner | [brand name]' so Google would be able to associate a brand with the product even if I didn't include it in my primary keyword.
Thanks for any guidance on this!

Thanks Tymen.

Hi Alli 7,
I would go for product title and maybe brandname after that but as as you mention they only sell 1 brand you should easily rank for that.
Regards,
Tymen

What Should I Do With My Home Page?
Hello, I own a fitness and sports performance facility called BIM Fitness & Performance in Fort Myers, FL. We have a simple site structure with 3 key pages; however, I'm not exactly what type of keywords I should rank for on each page and I think that they're actually conflicting to one another. That said, I'd like some insight as far as what I should do with these pages and what you would recommend that I do with the keywords and the meta descriptions. Any help is greatly appreciated! https://bimfitnessandperformance.com/athletic-sports-performance-training-fort-myers/ https://bimfitnessandperformance.com/adult-personal-training-fort-myers/ https://bimfitnessandperformance.com/

Do "search keywords" matter?
I've been getting conflicting accounts about this. We aways fill out the Title Tag, Meta Description and Product Tags(<- for internal purposes) but we are concerned about how important the "search keywords" are. We use bigcommerce and they describe their value as this: "the search keywords are optional, but if entered will be used for two things. First, they will be used along with the product name to create meta tags for search engine (I know meta keywords are not important, so is this what they mean?). Second, they will be used to assist people when searching your products. (Also internal, right?)." For all intents and purposes I think it is NOT super important but I wanted to make sure before I let them take a back burner. Thank you for your help in advance!

Product Page is Battling with Homepage in SERPs
My product page had been solidly in the middle of the first page for months. Now, it is being replaced by my homepage for the same keywords. I don't understand why this is happening and I'm worried about it, particularly from a business stand-point (we offer a variety of products that appeal to completely different audiences) In terms of SEO, Is this necessarily a problem? What can I do to ensure that Google recognizes that the content that those keywords are tied to is on the product page, not the homepage. One thing I did notice is that the 2nd and 3rd most common anchor text for the links to my homepage are the two keywords in question (they are a distant 2nd and 3rd however). If nothing else, is there a way I can get SeoMoz to recognize the homepage on its page rankings so that my heart doesn't drop once a week. Thanks,

Using local monthly searches for generating website keywords
Hi Guys,Im researching keywords to add to our new website with google key words. At this stage we are not using any paid searches or any PPC and are solely looking to be optimized for organic searches. With this in mind should I focus on populating out site with words that rank high under the column " local monthly searches' and not worry about the words that rank high under CPC and the Competition columns? .

For example I want to see the top 20 sites in order of ranking for top keywords in my industry. Without having to know in advance the url's.

Does anyone have a best practice for identifying local keyword terms?
I utilize a variety of keyword tools when I'm doing research, Google keyword tools, word tracker, keyword spy, etc but as soon as I throw in a city or state, the numbers seem to drop drastically or disappear. I understand that naturally these numbers will decrease because it will be a less popular term, but I feel like I have a great phrase and i don't understand why there isn't ANY local data for it. I was wondering what process you go through to specifically identify local terms.
