Old Redirected Domain is replacing my current domain on SERPs
-
Hello everyone,
All of a sudden a 2 year old redirected domain is replacing my current domain for 2 weeks now, my site is apitus.com and my old domain is aptitus.pe (the redirect is still working), however this only happens on my country google results (google.com.pe), if you check my site on google.com, everything looks ok even with a sitelink, which I no longer have on my country search results.
Back to the issue, the first thing I thought was go to Search Console and take it out from the index, so I asked for access by uploading a file but since everything on that old site redirects to my current site I can't make such action.
While still waiting for such access, is there anything else I could do?.
Thanks in advance.
PD: I'm adding the images of my SERPs

Well After two weeks nothing has changed, Aptitus.pe is still on top of my brand results, making my ranking score go lower since is a different domain and no sight of sitelinks.
Is there a way to get rid of that old domain?, no luck yet.

Yeah it's super strange. I've not seen it happen before, but these sorts of anomalies pop up from time to time. As long as you haven't seen a drop in traffic or conversions, I honestly wouldn't worry about it beyond doing what you've been doing and trying to build your brand by building links to your .com site, which is resolving properly.
Please let us know how it all turns out!

Thanks John,
Regarding search console, I finally got access through google tag manager.
I just fetched aptitus.pe and the status is redirected (An owner of the Search Console property <a target="_blank">http://aptitus.pe/</a> has requested a site address change to http://aptitus.com/), I hope this won't take long and probably I'll have my sitelinks back as well.
Still find it weird how could a 2 year old redirect could come back all of a sudden, I'll post it here when everything goes back to normal.
Thanks a lot

Did you do website moved through Google Search console?
-
Hi Dmitrii,
Thanks for your answer, well I've tried the same search at home, at work, at my peers mobiles, incognito mode and always get the same result. My old domain appearing on the first place (aptitus.pe) instead of my current one (aptitus.com).
It might be a Google TLD issue, but it has been like this for about 2 weeks now.
So any ideas on how can I take out that old redirected domain?.

Hi there -
Very strange situation! I took a look and see that your site redirects correctly (just one hop to your new site), the canonical is set correctly, etc. But I see aptitus.pe ranking in your home country search engine.
Looking at other places online, your .com is linked from your Google Maps entry and other main places where this sort of thing can cause issues.
To me, the next step would be to:
- Reach out to some of these sites (OSE link) to ask them to update their link to the .com
- Double check your .pe robots.txt and htaccess to make sure they are functioning correctly (sometimes stuff changes and we're not aware of it)
I'd be careful of taking your old site out of the index manually, because it should happen automatically with the 301s especially since your redirects have been in place for so long. Maybe try to Fetch as Googlebot the old homepage so that Google sees it and maybe then they'll respect the 301.
Hope that helps. Please report back.
John

Howdy.
It's interesting. I checked your queries in both google versions, it works/shows properly to me. Have you checked the query on other computers in your area? Did you try checking in other browsers? with all the cached and history cleaned out?

Redirect to a new domain and seo effects
I created a one page blogger with listing of several affiliated websites. It gained some visibility on google but it was very plain so i decided to create a wordpress more complex and fancy and to reach the top of search positions. At the moment i decided to keep the listing on blogger and add some links on the page saying "i've moved to a new website. click for more info" and it redirects to my page. But i dont get many clicks to my new site so i was thinking to maybe create a full redirect from my blogger to my wordpress or a iframe to fetch the wordpress but im afraid it may hurt my seo on my blogger. what should i do? thanks in advance

301 redirects - one overall redirect or an individual one for each page url
Hi I am working on a site that is to relaunch later on this year - is best practise for the old urls (of which there are thousands) to write a piece of code that will cover all of the urls and redirect them to the new home page or to individually redirect each url to its new counterpart on the new site. I am naturally concerned about user experience on this plus losing our Google love we currently have but am aware of the time it would take to do this individually. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Domain Forwarding / Multiple Domain Names / or Rebuild Blogs on them
I am considering forwarding 3 very aged and valuable domain names to my main site. There were once over 100 blog posts on each blog and each one has a page authority of 45 and domain authority of 37. My question is should i put up three blogs on the domains and link them to my site or should i just forward the domains to my main site? Which will provide me with more value. I have the capability to have some one blog on them every day. However, i do not have access to any of the old blog posts. I guess i could scrape it of archive.org. Any advice would be appreciated. Does it really matter to maintain 301 redirect after de-indexing of old URLs?
Today, I was reading latest blog post on SEOmoz blog about. Uncrawled 301s - A Quick Fix for When Relaunches Go Too Well This is very interesting study about 301 & How it useful to maintain traffic. I'm working on eCommerce website and I have done similar stuff on my website. I have big confusion to manage 301 redirect. My website generates new URLs due to following actions. Re-write dynamic URLs. Re-launch entire website on different eCommerce platform. [osCommerce to Magento Commerce] Re-name category. Trasfer one product from one category to another category. I'm managing my 301 redirect with old practice. Excel sheet data from Google webmaster tools and set specific new URLs for redirect. Hoooo... Now, I have 8.5K redirect in htaccess... And, I'm thinking it's too much. Can we remove old 301 redirect from htaccess or not? This is big question for me. Because, all pages are not hyperlink on external website. Google have just de-indexed old URLs and indexed new URLs. So, Is it require to maintain 301 redirect after Google process?

Does redirect of domain alias help rankings?
Yes... It iz I again ;o) Here's one for you savy techies out there: So, I've got a primary domain which is live, optimized and running smooooth. And then I've got a couple of misspelled domains as well (17 to be exact). Will it have an effect if I 301 those misspelled domains? What's Best Practice for several domain aliases? Example.

Primary domain: bryghusprojektet.dk
Alias domain 1: bryghusprojekt.dk (301 redirects to primary domain)
Alias domain 2: bryghus-projekt.dk (Hosting company infopage)
Alias domain 3: bryghus-projekter.dk (Not activated) Regards.1 -
I changed the domain and structure of my site,is there anything I can do to help speed the recovery in SERPs?
I change the domain of my site in March (pretty much exactly when Panda hit, by coincidence). Our search traffic has dropped by 90% in that time with little recovery. In webmaster tools it shows about 400,000 pages on the new domain and about 85,000 still indexed on the old domain. I set up custom 301 redirects to all of the new pages on the new domain so everything that was moved has a good one hop redirect. I've been told that the only thing I can do is sit back and wait for everything to finish transitioning. The problem is that it has been 5 months of poor traffic, which means 5 months of slow sales. Is there anything I can do the speed up the transition?
